[Semi-Open] Like a ton of bricks
Who: Dokugakuji and his CR or Shinji's
When: Nov 24-28th 2016
Where: His temple and nearby
What: Dokugakuji has recovered his memories from pre-death-by-Add-Shenanigans. (Prompts are prose, but threads can be either.)
---
Prompt A: Closed to Shinji, Morning of Nov 24th
Dokugakuji knew what it felt like to get an emotional reaction from his lone shinki. He never thought he'd get hit with a feeling harder than that, but that's the only similarity he can pin it on. Shinji doesn't share in the stunned, waves of understanding that Doku has to go through, but he has to wonder if Shinji didn't hear his god shouting himself awake. It's really early, the dawn is almost breaking, and Dokugakuji walks outside to sit on the walkway leading up to his temple, trying to process why this happened- how it happened. It was supposed to only happen to shinki, wasn't it? This whole... forgetting and remembering thing. Forgetting through death. And he'd thought he'd died when he arrived the first time... what did any of it mean?
Prompt B: Post-Network, Nov 25th+
He figured that he should say something, once he'd had time to sort a few things out for himself. It's not much, but it's public, so those who want to hear what he was trying to say, he figures they'll hear it. The rest will probably ignore him and he's fine with that.
However, he still comes from a mindset of preferring face-to-face interactions. Moreover, especially in the wake of these memories, he doesn't trust scientists and their technology more than ever.
So clandestine conversations are possible with him, just in-person at his temple or your character's, if invited.
Prompt C: Temple Thoughts in General
Dokugakuji isn't the type to make personal calls to his few acquaintances in the Far Shore. However, he does get restless enough to wander the grounds of his temple where people can see him, get some practicing in with his soulless shinki, that sort of thing. His first obligation is to Shinji, in his mind, as the person he's responsible for in this God role, and in the wake of his memories of his other shinki... now he's a touch more protective of the young man. That was at least easier to think about than Gojyo. He'd been trying to reconcile how he can possibly make things right with Gojyo based on the things he'd learned from Hakkai and Sharak on his second-go-round of memories, so those are clear as day, not that that helps at all.
So here he is, once again the guardian of a younger person, and trying not to screw it up. Advice welcome from friends old and new.
Prompt D: Wildcard!

Nope, he definitely didn't notice what he did.

"Sorry," it's a bit of an unfortunate thing to have to call his attention to, but he picks up the butter, angling it so that Doku can see the damage to the packaging, "We should probably at least let the people in charge know about this."
no subject
Then he looks at Shinji sympathetically. "You really think they'll even notice you when you try to tell them? And that it won't stop us from leaving with the kid?" Dokugakuji searches the shop quickly and sees the kid heading for the checkout.

With a time limit coming to a close as their target heads to complete his purchases, and a very distinct memory of having trouble getting Near Shore dwellers to notice him not long after he arrived, just telling someone seems like a less sure plan.
"If..." There's gotta be a good solution here, right? "If we go through the check-out, too? I mean, we did say we were shopping."
It'd protect their cover, if nothing else?
Tag 23/30
For both the store owner and the boy.
"If I give you the money, you can get us through this check-out thing, right?" He trusts Shinji if he says that he gets this place a little more than Dokugakuji does.
yea yea yea!!
"I can do that," easy peasy. Just as long as he doesn't run into too much trouble getting the cashier to notice him, but... we'll see. It's easy peasy in theory.
25/30 woo!
"Thanks for handling it, Shinji." Sometimes, it was just easier to let a shinki work something out, even without memories.
Meanwhile, Dokugakuji manages to go around the other side - where the boy is already checking out and getting ready to leave. So as long as Doku's hunting for some of the items at the front of the store while Shinji's checking out after the boy, he'll be able to see which direction the boy's going as he exits.

This is something that isn't too unfamiliar for him, so why wouldn't he handle it? Luckily for the two of them, knowing that he has both a time limit and someone waiting on him, Shinji can bring himself to be a little more assertive in catching the cashier's attention.
He will throw a few glances back at Doku and at the kid while he's taking care of the purchase, just to make sure neither of them end up too far out of view, should their target complete his payment first.
27 :D
Only then he can see another few blocks down the way and just outside the nearest train station, there's a teen girl waving in their direction. After a few huffs and puffs from the kid, the boy waves back too. So Doku comes to a stop, waiting for Shinji to catch up.
Standing there, he crosses his arms and smiles fondly. As Shinji joins him again, Doku jerks his chin in the boy's direction. "How 'bout that. Must be an older sister. I bet she got asked to watch over him too."
\o\ 28 /o/
It's a little alarming when he doesn't spot Doku right away, but it doesn't take too long to find him again. He runs up to him, quickly following his line of sight to figure out why he may have suddenly stopped here.
"Ah..." So that's how it is, huh? "That's kind of a relief." The idea that this kid would have more than just them looking out for him takes a little bit of the tension off of him. "Should we keep following him...?"
29!!!
Their walk up to the train station is uneventful and soon enough the train arrives. Doku waits just long enough to be sure that the pair are actually boarding before he gets up to board as well. "These things won't wait up for us either, huh?" It's one thing he's learned about the Near Shore, at least.
thordy.
Still, it seems like, going into the final stretch, this prayer turned out to be pretty uneventful. He doesn't want to say as much out loud, at the risk of jinxing it, but there's something both a little disappointing and wildly relieving about not running into an ayakashi.
Wrap for me!
"Well, that's that. Guess that kid'll be alright from here." He claps a hand on Shinji's shoulder. "Good job today." Then he pats it twice more with a chuckle. "Ready to go when you are."
