The candlelight melts all my shadows away [Open to CR]
Who: Cnoc Áine and related Akatsuki no Yona CR
When: December 3rd
Where: Take a wild guess
What: Mingle log with folks invited for a buffet dinner at the temple and folks can hang around afterwards too. I've included some prompts, but you can absolutely start your own. Any excuse to hang out with Yoon and Yona's extended CR is a good one.
---
Before Dinner / Gathering
Yoon is running bowls of food -- see below -- in and out of the kitchen to the hall where everyone gets to eat, so he's harder to get to stand still, but by all means use the opportunity to chat up people. You might find yourself sitting next to someone for dinner that you don't know, or you may want to explore the temple grounds until dinnertime. There's a lot to explore.
Dinner! Help Yourselves!
Yoon naturally took point on what the dinner would include, but he basically made a traditional spread of food - he thinks it's traditional anyway - resembling a giant lazy susan table with rice, a variety of meats that were marinated before being cooked, and grilled vegetables. The table is big enough for others to sit all around the circle, but move the wooden table around to get at the various dishes and pluck pieces of food from them. The rice also has a scooper. There is even stock soup resembling miso because that's what he was able to find on short notice when it occurred to him he should have soup, but didn't have enough time to make his own stock. Of course there is a pot of black tea too.
Near the wall, sitting on cold plates on a more traditional side table, there is also fresh fruit and a variation on lassi - a kind of pudding or yogurt. There's also glasses for milk shakes, but the ice cream and milk is currently being stored so it doesn't completely melt until they're ready, because of course he has milkshakes due to certain influences. Yoon doesn't get to be extravagant often, and Yona insisted if they were going to invite people that it be something pleasant, so he did indeed go all-out.
After Dinner: Bonding Time Etc.
At some point during the meal, Yoon will mention the pools at Yona's temple - Cnoc Áine - where people are able to bathe completely submerged and help wash away their blight. He considers this to be Extremely Important and if your characters - gods or shinki - haven't bathed in holy water within the last week, you can be sure that Yoon will insist on them hanging around long enough to bathe, alone or in a group as they're comfortable. By all means ask him why he finds this so important, or ask Yona about it. Unfortunately, the pools only heal under moonlight, so you can potentially hang around the temple for awhile, or leave and come back, although Yoon might seek a very sincere promise for the return. Good news is that it's winter, so 'moonlight' happens earlier. If Yoon happens to notice any tears or rips in the clothing that your character sheds in order to bathe, they might find them patched up by the time they put them on again.
But if you want to escape the oppressive Mom-ing of a worried Yoon, then you might try to engage some of the horses on the temple grounds, or take a walk through the immense halls and gardens.

[ He rambles haughtily for a moment, even though there's definitely pride in his talents there. ]
... Started talking to Jae-ha.
[ His voice is quieter there, before it ramps up again. ]
Made sure he knew who the Exemplar was around here!
no subject
Ahh, yes. He mentioned that. You're not worried, are you?
[ She didn't think it was something he would be worried about, but she still wanted to make sure, especially since Jae-Ha's arrival had happened so suddenly.
But there's something else in his quiet tone that has her venturing, ] How did your talk with Jae-Ha go?
no subject
[ He stays proud and nods at first, but then lowers his voice again. ]
... Actually, pretty hard!
[ Now his look shifts to be a little sympathetic. ]
I don't know how you do it. I know so little about him, but I was scared of messing it up!
no subject
[ A flicker of sadness crosses Yona's face for a moment before she gives him an understanding smile. ]
It's something I'm always scared of doing. Of saying too much. With any of you.
[ Sometimes it feels like she must watch every word she even considers speaking. At least Hak is no longer a shinki...? ]
no subject
If you ever start to worry about it more than usual, you can definitely tell us both to just go away for awhile and I'll understand why. I can tell Jae-ha something to keep us occupied, long enough to give you some breathing time.
[ Then he squeezes the shoulder a little tighter. ]
It's better than the alternative.
[ Either actually becoming an ayakashi, or somehow surviving it like he did last time and just being shaken all over again. ]
no subject
I don't want you to go away for a while - either one of you. I love having you here with me.
no subject
[ That makes Yoon smile. Then the smile gets bigger. He'd wanted nothing to do with gods for so long and if he'd kept that up, he wouldn't have been able to meet Yona like this, so far removed from royalty and divinity both. Just a friend - a very good friend. ]
Well, if you say so.
[ He puts his free hand on top of hers. ]
Then I'll just have to make sure we both are on our best behavior. Like a good exemplar.
no subject
Best behavior? That might be asking a bit much from Jae-Ha. Besides. You don't have to be on your best behavior all the time. That sounds like a lot of work.
no subject
[ He crosses his arms. ]
It's always going to be a lot of work being a shinki, but we should enjoy what it takes to better ourselves.
[ He miiiight be trying to be super-mature in front of Yona. ]
no subject
Don't go working too hard, Yoon. Maybe you should enjoy what it takes to better yourself, but you can also have fun just for the sake of having fun sometimes, too. Otherwise, you'll make me worry about you.
no subject
[ He lowers his head. ]
If I don't do the work, who will? I enjoy reading, but that doesn't seem like the kind of thing you're talking about either.
[ He understands that children, small ones like Goten, they're allowed to play. He struggles with thinking he's allowed that same privilege any more often than Heaven throws a party, or Yona does, and even then it's just 'relaxation' more than 'fun'. ]
no subject
There is always time to get work done, there's been nothing here that's been that urgent that you can't take a little time to relax and enjoy doing something fun. Reading can count, if you're doing it for pleasure and not for more work. But so could something like.... I don't know, going for a walk or maybe exploring the Near Shore for fun to see what you could find, treating youself to something special once in a while.
no subject
[ For her sake. He certainly doesn't mind working alone and independently to get things accomplished, but something about relaxing alone seems... pointless. Maybe it's because if there's some people left behind to work, but not him, he'd feel guilty about it. Meanwhile, if everyone is having fun at the same time - like some of these events that the Heavens put on - then it's less likely to make him self-conscious. ]
I've gone shopping at the Near Shore a few times, at least.
no subject
Did you? Did you find anything interesting?
no subject
[ He says that brightly, getting very excited. ]
Aymeric suggested a few more of them, though, and Keith too. I think my favorite so far is the blender - I used that to make the lassi as smooth as it was.
[ He makes a drinking motion to make sure she remembers it's the milkshake-like food item from the dinner, as opposed to any of the things you bit or chewed. ]
no subject
[ If very noisy...
She gives a little laugh, because of course this is what Yoon found to delight himself so. ]
I'm glad you found something fun to go shopping for. If you ever want to go get things for the kitchen to try out, please let me know, I'll be happy to take you.
no subject
[ He's all smiles at the idea of shopping with Yona, in the interest of making her kitchen that much better suited to making fantastic feasts and private dinners. ]
It shouldn't take a genius to be able to figure out what half of utensils being sold by these modern merchants are actually for, but between the two of us I think we can do it.
[ He's more than willing to experiment on food for himself, but he cares more about perfecting the use of some of these tools to make food that will impress Yona's guests. ]
no subject
Oh, this sounds like fun! Let's go soon, I want to see what we can discover!
