Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki



Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided to the rear of the Meeting Hall, where a traditionally styled dojo and training ground have been made available for the day. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.

Once they've had a chance to have things explained, they'll have the chance to relax and enjoy an afternoon party.




Meeting Hall

God Training

Newly arrived gods are escorted into a much nicer room than the warehouse where the last set of new gods got their informational speech. It's a smaller meeting room, with tatami floors and a small dais at the front of the room where the speaker stands. A minor deity is giving the speech, and none of the white-robed shinki enter.

The speaker delivers her welcome speech with the intonation of someone who's practiced it many times. Newly arrived gods are encouraged to discuss the information with each other and ask questions of more experienced gods, as well as instructed to guide their new shinki appropriately. They are allowed to remain in the room as long as they wish, should they want to discuss questions with each other or with more experienced gods who are here to help out.

Shinki Training

Various shinki in the white-and-gold of Amaterasu's hosuehold are stationed around the dojo, passing out informational pamphlets that have been freshly printed. They will be happy to answer any questions or instruct the newcomers in the use of the borderline. They also accompany their answers, or lessons, with an explanation of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. Shinki are encouraged to work together to practice what they've learned and discuss their perspectives.

The dojo is back to its old, fully functional self; a set of motionless straw targets line one wall, to be used by people practicing with any of the weapons spread out on tables or hanging in racks on the walls. Outside, six animated straw targets wait in an area marked off with red ribbons and warning signs. Anyone entering the marked area may find themselves in combat with one (or more) of the magical training dummies. Those who leave the marked area, though, won't be chased.

Physical Training

Beyond the dojo, a scavenger hunt has been set up throughout the grounds of the Meeting Hall. Brightly colored plastic balls are hidden in shrubbery, tucked into support beams, floating among reeds in the ponds, and lurking in even cleverer hiding places. When a god or shinki gets their hand on one of them, they will burst open to reveal a hidden prize, such as candy, small toys, or accessories. How many can you find?

As well as the scavenger hunt, the white-robed shinki are engaging in more serious physical training and will be happy to let new gods or shinki join them. Sparring matches with practice weapons from the dojo, jogging laps around the hall, sit-ups, push-ups... or, for the younger shinki, competing to see who's the fastest to climb a tree.

Rest and Refreshments

Midafternoon, once the last of the scavenger-hunt prizes have been found, the white-robed shinki will turn their hands to clearing away the training equipment and laying out a lovely buffet table. Bright lanterns are hung from the trees, and a few shinki even take up a station on one side of the training area and begin playing shamisen, koto, wooden flute and drum. Although their instruments are traditional, their music selection ranges from some very classic Japanese tunes to others that sound surprisingly modern. The koto player can really rock!

Old and new gods and shinki alike are welcome to circulate, socialize with their friends, partake of the buffet food and enjoy the music. There's even room for those who feel inspired to dance, and plenty of privacy offered by the extensive garden for those who would rather retreat with their new partners to have a serious conversation.

Shin didn't pick on anyone younger than himself, and never got too mean, just competitive. If he came across any kids, though, he'd seem like he's giving it his all, but lets them win. That didn't mean that he wasn't going to otherwise try to get as many trinkets as he could.

He hadn't been sure why his stomach kept hurting, but it wasn't severe, so he hadn't put all that much thought into it. Especially in the middle of something as entertaining as a scavenger hunt. Honestly, he was a little surprised with how quick Adrien caught on. He blinks and says, "I'm okay. My stomach's just cramping." He fidgets a bit, trying to figure out the thing that has been bugging him all day. It was a craving, but he wasn't exactly sure for what.

"Let's try getting you something to each and see if it's something like that? You might just be really hungry." Given what Adrien had seen when he named Shin well, he's not sure what exactly it was his shinki might need but they'll work it out together. If they can eliminate the basics it'll lead to the answer eventually. Food, drink, and rest are the basics. Shin didn't seem to be tired given by the way he's running about so that can't be it.

Reaching out, he's holding up a bright blue ball. "Last one. Let's go eat something. Something a bit more nutritious than candy and sweets." He knows Tikki can live off of the things but humans needed more than that. "I bet they have a little bit of everything so we're bound to find something you like. They always have a variety of things."

Shin's surprised to find his god so doting. In a way it was nice to be fussed over, but he was pretty sure there was no reason for concern.

Still, Adrien's forceful enough that Shin gives in, "okay, but I really don't think it's that." The ball popped open, revealing a little cell phone charm of Chococat holding a fish. Shin laughs at it, having already seen Adrien in his Chat Noir costume, "do you think it's a sign?"

"Humor me? Because if it's something worse than that and you're sick or something the sooner we figure it out the sooner we can get you help. Before it gets worse. We don't want that."

Adrien laughed softly. He's laughing because it even has a bright green collar. "We should put a bell on it then he'd be a purrfect copy. He could be a dead ringer for Chat Noir." Happily, he's patting Shin's shoulder. "I'm pawsitive it is. I need not other confurmation. How about mew?"

Shin cracks a smile at the first cat pun, and is resentfuly laughing by the last one. "No, I think I'm convinced."

He starts working the charm onto his phone, "so, where do we get food around here?

"Oh good because I don't usually run around babbling off cat puns all day. A guy has to get some sleep." But no if Shin ever did actually tell him to stop he would... for a while. Maybe.

"They usually have a thing set up. Near by..." He's looking around then gestures. "Ah ha! There. They're starting to set up over there. I'm sure if we explained to them that you were feeling kind of sick they'd let us get you something before they've got it all set up." He's making a mental note to take Shin shopping for new clothes.

Shin shrugs and heads over towards the tables. He'll at least humour his mother hen god. "I still feel like its not from hunger," he warns, but he's also worried about how Adrien would respond to it being what his hunch is telling him it is. How upstanding were cigarettes to him? Already Shin is shamelessly thinking it might be easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

"It may not be but it's the easiest fix we have at the moment. Besides eating couldn't hurt no matter what the real cause is." Because Adrien is getting rid of the most obvious possibilities first. The kind he can readily provide for without much help from anyone else. "We'll just have to figure it out and once we do we'll get you fixed up. Right now I'm a bit more concerned about your health than some other weird random possibility. I mean you're in a prison jumpsuit and judging from the way you were bound those people didn't like you much so it's not unlikely that they didn't feed you or something like that."

Shin shrugs a little, "I guess so." He is more than willing to take the lead on approaching one of the robed shinki working on set-up, but, "I'll let you do the talking with them. It's pretty obvious that Gods are at least supposed to be some kind of higher class." He does try to implicate that Adrien wasn't making it seem that way to him, and generally people tend to get what he wants them to out of the things he says.

He's almost uncomfortable with how much Adrien has actually been worrying. "I don't remember if I actually asked. Do you have any other shinki?" He wonders if it's something like the way some parents supposedly get over only children. It at least made Adrien seem just as human as he feels.

"Supposed to be but not everyone feels that way." Adrien moved forward and he's speaking with one of the white robed shinki that stare at him in question. "I don't mean to be a bother but could I possibly get a little snack plate and drink for my shinki now? I might have pushed him bit too far with training and -"

Adrien doesn't having to even finish before the shinki is nodding, moving to fetch make up a plate of the assorted dishes; he seems to be carefully portioning it out so that he makes certain to give Shin a bit of everything. Moments later there are two identical plates extended to them. Another shinki is holding out two identical drinks. The blond is reaching out to take the plates with a smile. "Thank you both very much."

As he moves to lead them to a comfy place to sit and eat, the young god shrugged. "Not exactly? I mean I only just became a god. Thought there is one I would take on as a secondary assuming that his current Goddess would have no issue with it. I suppose it could be taxing to have more than one shinki on an emotional and mental level that is."

Shin is really thankful that Adrien isn't making it feel that way. He probably could easily do so, if he wanted. A thought that was confirmed when he sees how quickly the other shinki served him. He doubted he'd be able to get them to respond so quickly. He takes the drinks from the other shinki with a "thank you".

He follows Adrien to a good spot to sit and sits down next to him. "I thought that was a bad thing," he says, looking a little worried. "I guess the new people don't mind as much?"

"Depends on which people you ask." He hums handing Shin one of the plates with a smile. "Gods can disappear and when they do Shinki can be left without a partner and it leaves them homeless, vulnerable, and unable to rend and banish Ayakashi. I think the newer people understand the need for some level of security better than the old gods do."

He considered. "That and I don't see old gods running around with just Soulless Shinki either. Some of the new gods when there aren't enough Shinki to go around end up with a Soulless. I don't see any point in that. I mean I'm not going to just go around naming other people's Shinki as mine, too. It's only the one as far as I'm concerned. That's because we were shinki to the same goddess together and he's my friend. I want him to always know someone is here for him."

Shin puts down one of the drinks with Adrien's plate. "That makes sense, I guess. It's always the older generation that hates how things are changing, right?" Spoken like a rebel.

"What's your friend's name?" He asks as he starts picking at the food. "It's really great that you're making sure he's taken care of."

Adrien shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know if that's the reason. I'm sure there's something else there maybe they're just so reserved or something like that. Who knows. All I know is they aren't likely to change their minds.."

He took a sip of his drink before settling his plate on his lap, giving Plagg bit of something eat. "Snake, his name is Snake. I don't think he has a formal name but he's very nice." Adrien smiles a bit. "He would do the same if roles reversed."

Shin frowns a little, "Would that make things any different between us? Since I'm your exemplar?" He really doesn't want to be in charge of someone, especially someone he doesn't know but that Adrien is very familiar with.

He eats a little more eagerly than he thought he would, but it had been a while since he ate so he still was pretty sure that hunger wasn't his problem.
