Who: Everyone
What: Information and Training
When: December 7th
Where: Outside the Meeting Hall, the Far Shore
Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki

Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided to the rear of the Meeting Hall, where a traditionally styled dojo and training ground have been made available for the day. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.
Once they've had a chance to have things explained, they'll have the chance to relax and enjoy an afternoon party.

The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.
Once they've had a chance to have things explained, they'll have the chance to relax and enjoy an afternoon party.

God Training
- Newly arrived gods are escorted into a much nicer room than the warehouse where the last set of new gods got their informational speech. It's a smaller meeting room, with tatami floors and a small dais at the front of the room where the speaker stands. A minor deity is giving the speech, and none of the white-robed shinki enter.
The speaker delivers her welcome speech with the intonation of someone who's practiced it many times. Newly arrived gods are encouraged to discuss the information with each other and ask questions of more experienced gods, as well as instructed to guide their new shinki appropriately. They are allowed to remain in the room as long as they wish, should they want to discuss questions with each other or with more experienced gods who are here to help out.
Shinki Training
- Various shinki in the white-and-gold of Amaterasu's hosuehold are stationed around the dojo, passing out informational pamphlets that have been freshly printed. They will be happy to answer any questions or instruct the newcomers in the use of the borderline. They also accompany their answers, or lessons, with an explanation of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. Shinki are encouraged to work together to practice what they've learned and discuss their perspectives.
The dojo is back to its old, fully functional self; a set of motionless straw targets line one wall, to be used by people practicing with any of the weapons spread out on tables or hanging in racks on the walls. Outside, six animated straw targets wait in an area marked off with red ribbons and warning signs. Anyone entering the marked area may find themselves in combat with one (or more) of the magical training dummies. Those who leave the marked area, though, won't be chased.
Physical Training
- Beyond the dojo, a scavenger hunt has been set up throughout the grounds of the Meeting Hall. Brightly colored plastic balls are hidden in shrubbery, tucked into support beams, floating among reeds in the ponds, and lurking in even cleverer hiding places. When a god or shinki gets their hand on one of them, they will burst open to reveal a hidden prize, such as candy, small toys, or accessories. How many can you find?
As well as the scavenger hunt, the white-robed shinki are engaging in more serious physical training and will be happy to let new gods or shinki join them. Sparring matches with practice weapons from the dojo, jogging laps around the hall, sit-ups, push-ups... or, for the younger shinki, competing to see who's the fastest to climb a tree.
Rest and Refreshments
- Midafternoon, once the last of the scavenger-hunt prizes have been found, the white-robed shinki will turn their hands to clearing away the training equipment and laying out a lovely buffet table. Bright lanterns are hung from the trees, and a few shinki even take up a station on one side of the training area and begin playing shamisen, koto, wooden flute and drum. Although their instruments are traditional, their music selection ranges from some very classic Japanese tunes to others that sound surprisingly modern. The koto player can really rock!
Old and new gods and shinki alike are welcome to circulate, socialize with their friends, partake of the buffet food and enjoy the music. There's even room for those who feel inspired to dance, and plenty of privacy offered by the extensive garden for those who would rather retreat with their new partners to have a serious conversation.

In Summary:
- Get all the information you can handle
- Veteran new gods and shinki are welcome to volunteer showing the ropes
- Get in some training
- Relax at a party
- Have fun~

[A shame really.]
First thing, you want the right mindset. It was explained to me as you want a superior mindset against the person you're targeting. Mind over matter, in a way. Which also means if you're going up against a more experienced shinki, it might be harder.

[Ginia gives a rueful laugh and shrugs lightly. Magic really isn't her forte, though since it's an option, she knows she should crack down it more.]
You should talk to Kairi, she's pretty knowledgeable about spells. She's the one that taught me bind.

Do you want to learn or not?
[It's not a pleasant implication, but Ginia doesn't mind. Better to know and be able to defend herself and her temple than to not know at all.]
no subject
[Can't have those shinki causing trouble, huh. Her fists ball up at her sides, shoulders tight, belying her measured words.]
no subject
Better to know than not, right? But it doesn't make it any easier or right.
Ginia doesn't know what to say so she moves on.]
The spell itself is simple. The person's vessel name plus "ki", and the spell said out loud. So in my case, you would say "Shuuki, bind."
no subject
[Honestly, she appreciates Ginia still trying. Poorly as she might show that.]
Okay. Anything special in my head for all that, or am I just throwing ether around like with the walls?
no subject
[Which is Ginia's way of warning if Nia's bind spell doesn't hold, she's going to throw a bind or borderline back.
no subject
Shuuki, bind!
[She's a natural at Borderlines. This, not so much. The spell flicks out without much power at all, a combination of her poor focus and uncertainty.]
no subject
Toraki, bind!
no subject
[She'd snarl in absolute frustration if she had the ability to twist her face just how it needed to go right now.]
no subject
Want to take a break and get food?
no subject
Line! [She twists her fingers around, and a Borderline snaps up immediately, shimmering with diamond strength in the air. Yeah, that's better. Little salve to her ego, there, and she lets it drop.]
no subject
[Says the chronic overworker. Do as I say, not as I do.
Ginia crosses her arms over her chest and look toward where they generally set up food. She hasn't had a chance to swing over yet, but it seems like they're setting up for something bigger today.]
Want to see what they have here or hit the Near Shore?
no subject
[She purses her lips, thinking about it, then shrugs.] If there's fish, I'm good with anywhere. Can't believe how hungry I always seem to be...
no subject
[The hunger is definitely a side-effect of being a shinki, but Ginia decides to gloss over that. It's a little annoying, but at the same time, never being full means it's easy to enjoy food without restraint.
And speaking of eating without restraint, hey! It's a buffet today! Ginia looks over the spread of food and grins.]
Anything catch your eye? I'm not picky so it's all good to me.
no subject
[Huffing out an exasperated breath, Nia heads over to the buffet.] The way I see it, I ought to try some of everything, right? If I don't know what it is I don't know if I like it or not.
no subject
It's also free so no loss eating everything.
[And that point, Ginia's going to load up with pretty much everything. Eat and be merry?
no subject
Yeah. Makes me wonder what the catch is. Nothing's free, you know.
[And 'you're a shinki' doesn't seem to be a price for anything else they've gained.]
[But cynical thoughts like that don't stop Nia from piling her plate high too.]
no subject
[There is no point in arguing with Nia on things. It's only a circular conversation with nothing new to add.
Well, no, there is something else. Since talking to Kairi, Ginia knows shinki can name soulless shinki and rend with them. There's no need for a shinki to have a god in that case. She watches Nia as she loads up her plate with pasta salad and tonkatsu sandwiches. Nia is unhappy as a shinki. She can't imagine she'd be any happier with a soulless shinki.
Hm.]
no subject
[No, check that, she'll almost certainly be surprised when Nia pops up with a Blade the next time they meet and raises all sorts of questions. But Nia's also twitching with the knowledge that she's not being fair to her god... and not getting a chance to be fair.]
Hasn't gotten anyone yet, has it? Probably just a way they get us here to make us better weapons. [She shrugs a little, piling on some sushi.] You know I can't even complain about this training, not when I'm getting stuff out of it. Thanks for that, by the way.
no subject
[Ginia may have the benefit of living with a master chef, but the food put out at the training session is definitely nothing to scoff at. Whoever is responsible for the sweets would definitely take the Near Shore by storm if they opened up a cafe or shop.]
The amusement park may not been the best on your first day, but it was still fun, right?
no subject
Not really. Not my style. Maybe, maybe I might've enjoyed it if I hadn't just been shipped off there out of the blue. Or if any of it seemed the slightest bit like something I knew. Or if I hadn't known there were a bunch of evil spirits crawling around I couldn't do anything about except stall. Or maybe if thing's gone better with Shizuo. But all in all, waste of a day.
no subject
She finds a spot for them to sit at, setting her plate of food on her lap.]
So you and Shizuo. Things improve any since then?
