Adrien knew he should have transformed. He knew it but it had been a heat of the moment thing. They'd gotten notice of ayakashi and that had been it. The trio of Fortuna's temple had instantly sprang into action and for a while it was fine. Everything was going fine but like all things the comes and ending but that came before the last of the ayakashi had been dealt with.

It was a blink of an eye moment. Something shifted and Adrien caught the motion from the corner of his eye - he didn't have time to think or call out a warning or for a quick Claws Out; he didn't even think of those options to be honest. He surged forward his hands shoving both his goddess and the other shinki forward and out of reach of the ayakshi that had been swooping in to attack the spot where they had been - the spot he was currently in.

A sharp strangled cry left Adrien even as he flung an arm out for a borderline between them - trapping himself on the other side with the two ayakashi away from his partners. "Rend them. Finish it." It hurts, his body hurts. Something got him and he isn't too keen on looking to see what it was or where exactly. Stupid as it is Adrien is more concerned about his partners, about keeping them safe; keeping that borderline up. He'll worry about the open wound and blood spilling over his skin later.

Snake is on a mission right now. There's another ayakashi threatening Adrien right now. He can't pay attention to Adrien falling to his knees even though that sudden shock to the ground is like a knife stabbing into every scale touching the earth.

He's gotten sloppy though, his tail pulling drastically forward as he strikes the other ayakashi. He strikes it a second time, this time holding onto it. He isn't thinking as he starts to wrap around it, possibly still pulling at Marinette if the first tail flick didn't rip him away from her grasp. He rolls up around the Ayakashi, to make sure it can't get anywhere as he delivers an agonizing venom into it. Sure, it won't die without Marinette using her power as a God to have him rend it, but that didn't mean he was going to spare it any suffering that his panic might have spared it's companion.

A part of him feared this fight ending, as he can tell Adrien's fallen with his borderline, and what's worse, neither Ayn nor Martin are saying a word. He didn't want to face what that meant. He didn't want to have to find out how bad it was.

Ayn is with Marinette in stunned silence, but Martin is speeding his way from Snake's previous position to Adrien's side, hoping that he could see some way he could help, even if it was just in helping to keep a seal on the wound so he didn't lose blood. Even if they hadn't grown close to Adrien as well thanks to his gentle kindness, seeing someone that Snake cared about so deeply, and in many ways looks up to, fall to his knees unable to fight hurts them too.

On top of everything else, she could feel Adrien's guilt weighing on her as well. Which was ridiculous, because he had nothing to feel guilty about. He hadn't known this was going to happen. But now was absolutely not the right time to be worried about that. She'd have to make sure to tell him that later when they got home. Because they were going home. All of them. And then Adrien would get better and they'd laugh at how ridiculous all of this was.

Right?

It was easy to believe that things would work out as long as Adrien was able to keep the borderline up. Things could still be fine. They'd already gotten rid of one of the ayakashi, so that was a start! But then the borderline fell, and Adrien fell, and all she could feel was pain and guilt and probably a dozen other things that she wasn't even registering correctly.

There was no time to worry about it, though. She vaguely registered that Snake was still moving forward, though he wasn't being particularly graceful about it. She'd probably stumbled a couple of times as a result, but the deathgrip on her shinki's tail was effectively preventing her from regaining her balance for long.

Somehow she managed to shout another "Rend!" and she realized that both snakes had been silent the entire time. That was probably not a good sign, considering Ayn's normal personality. A small part of her wished that Ayn would just say something because that meant it was okay, or that it would be, at least.

Adrien might not be able to hear Martin but both Snake and Marinette can. "No! Adrien! Please, please don't move," he begs while trying to do something, anything to help Adrien. It's funny how much he really does sound like Snake. It seemed no wonder why Snake relied on his name to cover his own speech.

Ayn tenses around Marinette, though at the last tug of Snake's strike causes her to lose her grip and go spiraling off of Marinette's shoulders. She gasps in a voice with panic Snake didn't think was possible from that bubbly, teasing snake, "I'm fine!" She is, having landed in the brush and leaves and grass. She likes the ground, but her species could take a fall, and she has no limbs to worry about spraining. She doesn't wait for Marinette or Snake to start speeding to Adrien's side as well, having heard Martin's shouting.

Snake, meanwhile, freezes briefly as the last ayakashi disappeared in his mouth. He'd done what he had to, and it takes him a moment to shift focus again. His fury drops out into a hellish pit of fear in his stomach as he turns and slithers his way towards and around Adrien. He gets into a position where he can keep Adrien supported without moving him. He was more than big enough and strong enough to fold himself under and around Adrien as he croons, "Adrien, it will be okay. Relax and rest. I have you."

There's a shift in the air and the guilt weighing on her lessened a little. It's a relief to have that overwhelming sense of guilt mostly gone, but it's not quite enough. She's still running mostly on autopilot and trying not to blame herself for agreeing to this in the first place. If she'd been able to say no, then this wouldn't have happened.

She'd felt Ayn tensing around her shoulders, but as soon as Snake struck the last time, she went flying. Marinette barely registered her voice moments later, insisting she was fine. It took her a moment to get moving, and then she was hurrying to Adrien's side as well. But the sight of him laying there made her stumble. Being slapped in the face with Snake's sudden panic and fear certainly didn't help matters, and she stumbled the last few steps to where he was curled up with Snake.

Of course Snake beat her there. She wasn't moving very fast, and now she felt weighed down with fear and guilt that had nothing to do with either of her shinki. Had she been thinking clearly, it would've occurred to her to translate for Snake and Ayn and Martin, but all she could seem to do was fling herself at the two of them and try to hold back the tears stinging her eyes.

Snake wraps himself close to Adrien, making sure to support him, but still trying to make room for Marinette to get in close with them. He turns his head towards Marinette, "We need to get him to the spring water fast...." The sound of his voice is strained with anxiety and fear as he looks to her, still breathing heavily from the battle.

Snake can't cry in this form, but his anxiety and sadness are enough to bring tears to most people. He's trying hard to reign in his emotions, to keep a flat sense, but he's struggling to even slightly taper his fears.

"The smell of blood is strong," Martin remarks quietly. There was a lot of blood mixed in with the blight. Ayn makes sure to carefully wrap herself and Martin around Adrien so they can port more safely.
