Raise This Barn, Raise This Barn, 1 2 3 4
Who: Nephenee/Athena and YOU
When: December 7th
Where: Athena's Temple
What: Raising a barn and area for cute animals. Come help build or provide support or come pet animals! Or come for free food!
Life sure was funny. What had started as a rather bad few days had become a little less sad when Nephenee had suddenly acquired a bunch of animals - a small flock of sheep, deer, and one small goat that liked to chew on everything, along with some wolves. After rehoming the wolves (because let's face it, wolves do not go together with a bunch of herbivores), she'd set to looking into what she'd need to build a decent barn for the winter; the lancer knew she could just make one appear out of nowhere, but that didn't sound as good. She needed to work with her hands, it made it more...real.
So after a few days to get the materials and draft up a plan, they were ready to begin!
Barn Raising/Fence Building
The people on the Near Shore say that Rome wasn't built in a day, and while that is certainly true, barns are not Rome. They can and often are raised in a day, but it takes a group to do it. There's plenty to do, ranging from hammering and nailing, to framing, to painting. There's also a fence going up, for those who really don't like heights or people who like working with big metal poles and fencing. And there's even music playing, to add to the festive mood.
Refreshments!
You really can't have a barn raising without food and drink. While Nephenee's made some goodies, some of a more medieval European country origin and a fair number of Japanese dishes, there's certainly room for folks to bring things, and she welcomes it! Mingle and enjoy!
Animals!
Nephenee's fairly well-known for the giant rabbits that seem a bit too intelligent for anyone's good and that pull her sled with speed that is rather unheard of for lagomorphs on most worlds. Now with the addition of around fifteen sheep, all of who have colored, belled collars, a herd of beautiful deer, and a frisky goat, there's really no shortage of fluffy critters to pet and feed. Nephenee's got plenty of food for them, so feel free to go feed some adorable animals. They're all friendly, if a bit skittish in the case of the deer.
Wild Card
I ain't your mom, go have fun!

But if there's one thing about his god power that proves to be a bit of a downside, it's the fact that some of the animals have been quick to take notice of him and has surrounded him. So now Gohan is covered in various animals, especially the sheep.
The sheep is dangerous.]
Poor Gohan has been fluffed oops
It doesn't go noticed by their new owner, who chuckles, excuses herself from whatever she was doing, and comes over, smiling.]
Looks like ya made some friends there, sir. Need me to call 'em off?
[They're deadly attack sheep, clearly.]
It could be worse
No, no, it's fine!
[The sheep shifts closer, almost as if they're all trying to nuzzle him at once.]
barn raising
Today, the break is going around the Far Shore now that things have been deemed suitably safe enough, and his escort for the day is Kiwami. A walk wouldn't seem like a particularly dangerous endeavor, and yet there are dust marks on Kiwami's knees, and a couple bits of dirt and scrapes on Ebisu's face. This is no likely the reason why Kiwami is focused so intently on the young god walking in front of him, although the god in question doesn't seem particularly worried.
As they venture near to Athena's temple, Ebisu gives a pause to get a look at the construction that's going on. "Hello! Are you Athena-sama?"
no subject
"Ah am. Ya can call me Nephenee, if ya want. What're your names?" She notices the dirt and scrapes, and mentally files that for caring for after introductions, assuming they're alright with that.
no subject
With introductions over, however, he can't help but try to peer around her. "What is it that you're making, Nephenee-sama?"
no subject
After rising, she turns her body so he can see better, gesturing to the framing for the building. "That there's a barn for the animals Ah've taken in recently, after their god disappeared. Gotta An' we're putting up a fence, too. Gotta keep 'em safe an' outta trouble, after all."
Before they go on, though, she looks them over, as if noticing their state for the first time. "Hey, would ya like me to help y'all with them scrapes? They don't look fun at all."
no subject
"Oh. I fell. And Kiwami is bad at catching me before that happens." Kiwami's shoulders hunch up a little in embarrassment, even as Ebisu continues. "I was going to have one of my other shinki heal me when we got back!"
no subject
Nephenee listens to his explanation and nods with the patience of a big sister. "Ah'm sure he tried his best though, didn't ya, Kiwami? But y'all gimme one second to get my kit, an' Ah'll get ya cleaned up a lil'. Don't want nothin' to get infected, after all. Make ya feel better, too. An' after, if y'all want, ya can see the animals an' have a bite."
no subject
Her offer has him look back to Kiwami in surprise. "Would that really be alright? We wouldn't want to intrude while you're busy working."
Animals
It's alright. Here's some feed for you.
