[ When there are things you don’t want to think about, you do other things and think about anything else instead. Though he should probably discuss his feelings with Forrest, D2 doesn’t really know how he would phrase it. Words can be complicated.
One thing he pretends that he’s been putting off and is finally doing is one thing he doesn’t really have to do and only had a brief thought of doing. He sits by a canal, with a notebook open on nearly blank pages. On the top of one page he has written, 14 letters, 5 rows, capital, and below that in the middle of a row, / shinki of / Lakshmi. This is absolutely the most important thing that he needs to do right now. Clearly. It’s not like he has doubts about how useful he is to his god or anything, no, not at all, whoever’s trying to say that is delusional because it’s not like he finds his worth in how useful he is, not at all, he’s never said that to anyone ever.
The ends of his pen taps against the notepad. One of the geese has watched it go with interest, and tries to snap it up from his fingers. He makes a weird Ack! sound at that point, then huffs and berates the bird a little. He doesn’t sound very serious.
Any unimportant thing he can pretend are important to distract himself from important things are good right now. ]
10-14 | Outside Lakshmi’s Temple
[ Some actually important things are a viable distraction, though. D2 generally puts in a couple hours on practicing the shinki spells that he knows, and not very long ago at all he stumbled across a spell that includes singing.
Thing is, D2 can’t sing. He’s pretty bad at it. And is sort of tone deaf. People who spend a lot of time around him might have heard his false singing at some point or other.
Though he enjoys it a lot, he probably needs a bit more than “enjoyment” to pull off this Song to Repel the Lightning off properly.
He can practice while he does some work at the temple, right? Currently that’s mainly raking leaves, since they have finally fallen from the trees. He can try to do both at once because raking leaves is easy and he needs to learn to at least hold a tone a little...Why does it have to be sung in the first place? He prefers the normal, simple spells that are spoken, he’s got a much easier time mastering those. ]

[ He stopped to record one single goose chasing two of the white-robed shinki. The shinki are losing miserably to the goose (partially because a spygoat and prinny duo busy in their own squabble accidentally tripped one of them, which only makes it even better). It’s hilarious.
He did not expect to get another goose quacking loudly at him as if he’s insulted it and its whole clan as he did. He’s in the way, move...or something? It pecks at his feet. Thankfully his boots are robust and he barely feels anything at all so he peers down with his phone in hand, still recording. ]
I already moved out of the way, what more do you want of me? [ A loud, assertive quack in reply. ] I don’t have any food, you know? [ Another sharp peck to his boot and a noise and a lot of irritation that he doesn’t even stumble. He’s got a feeling his legs might fall victim within the near future, that will probably hurt a little. ] You seen any other shinki around here by the way? Besides our white-clad friends over there, I mean. Though I guess you might not want to help me? You seem to think I’m a menace or something. You should try venting to God Apollo, I’m sure she’ll agree with you wholeheartedly. I’d stay to listen too but I’m sort of trying to keep busy, though I can show the way to her place. [ Actually that would be fun. Drop a goose on her or something. Let a horse loose in her temple. Though he’d cause a bother for Wendy as well if he went with that option. ] Ah, maybe I’ll make myself an errand there anyway.
