I wish I could be as carefree and wild
Who: Keith and You!!
When: Any time between January 3rd-6th, before the newcomers start pouring in.
Where: Around the Far Shore - is he scouring the land outside of your temple? In a public space? Follow your heart!
What: K i t t y Q u e s t
[Following the abrupt disappearance of Yog-Sothoth’s temple and his unexpected days-long-nap, it doesn’t take very long for Keith to realize something somewhat distressing - the three cats that had made their home at the temple are nowhere to be found. With snowfall starting to creep more and more into the weather forecast, it’s for the best to try and find them as fast as he can, lest they find themselves subjected to the consequences of cold weather exposure…
Or, maybe he just really needs an excuse to keep himself busy and hold off on confronting him own troubles over Futaba’s disappearance. But, you know, still. He’s not going to just abandon a trio of cats who are used to spending time indoors, either.
Equipped with a few sheets of paper with the cats’ likenesses drawn on them, as well as a small bag of cat treats, he’s looking high and low, any place a cat or two might take shelter, which is naturally going to lead him to investigating around a bunch of buildings. Any spot that looks like it might be a cozy enough hideaway is getting a thorough look-over, even if that means sneaking around someone else’s property. It’s for a good cause. Of course, with the affinity so many heaven-bound residents have for cats, it’s only natural that he’s going to attract a good number of incorrect felines. Probably yours, if they have the freedom to go outside. Heck, his endeavors will probably catch the attention of some other temple specific critters outside of cats, too. Imagine.]

sandshrew if you’d like for one of the cats to be at your character’s temple, or want them to discover one of them together! Otherwise I’ll assume a fruitless search, but... maybe the real cats... were the friends we made along the way.]]

Let's take a better look at the feline now that they're up here, and...!]
It's one of them, yeah!
[Uneven socks, a little white spot on his forehead, a very chill demeanor, there's no way he'd be mistaken. And, truly, Keith seems completely appreciative of the help in finding him.] He doesn't look like he's in bad shape, either. Must have done okay looking after himself for a few days.
[What a relief...!]
no subject
[So do the other cats. Roxas... might not be eating much since he keeps feeding the cats instead.
He adjust how he's holding the cat so it's less "presenting Simba to the masses" and more comfortable for the cat.]
So you're taking him home with you?
no subject
And, for all of his enthusiasm just a moment ago, something about the way Roxas replies kind of leaves Keith feeling sort of hesitant. He's been feeding the cat, and hanging out with him on the roof, he's probably grown kind of fond of him at this point, hasn't he...?]
I'd like to. [That is the idea, after all.] Right now I'm staying with a friend of mine, so it's not really my home to take him to. [Not that he'd anticipate either Yoon or Yona telling him not to reunite with the cats, not to keep them in the temple, or anything like that. They've been pretty understanding, all things said.] If you two are getting along well, do you think can I ask you to keep an eye on him for a little while longer?
no subject
Keith has guessed right in that Roxas has grown attached to the cat. Even if he didn't know what it was, the affection and purring won him over fast, and now he's not even wanting to put the cat down. It's not his cat, but it's so cute...
Roxas perks up at that, nodding enthusiastically. He stops before he gets dizzy and gives Keith a big smile.]
I can do that! I'll take really good care of him!
no subject
And - ah - he can't help but smile a little bit at that response. That was definitely a good call on his part.]
This little guy's always been pretty good company. [He reaches out to pet the cat's head.] Whenever I end up getting settled again, you'd be more than welcome to come visit him, too.
[He's sure whoever he ends up partnered with won't mind. And, if they do, too bad?? This is Keith's call to make, clearly.]
no subject
Oh. An invitation to visit the kitty? Of course Roxas would take that offer. It would be like visiting a friend, and friends are important.]
Really? You don't think whoever you settle with would mind? I'd be a stranger to them... [Maybe introductions should happen before visiting.]
Does the cat have a name? I've just been calling him Bacon since he seems to like bacon.
no subject
But it is probably an honestly better alternative to his own answer:]
You know I... am not entirely sure. [What a thing to admit.] It was one of my old temple-mates who brought him and his brothers home, I think she may have given them names, but I don't really remember hearing them.
no subject
Oh... Then you should name it. It's your cat now, right?
[Otherwise this cat will be forever know as Bacon.]
no subject
Bacon... should be fine. [I GUESS.] If that's what you've been calling him, he's probably used to it now.
[Sounds like a Good Enough Excuse for his own lack of creativity, doesn't it?.]
no subject
Bacon's a good cat. [The cat seems to agree, stretching up to nuzzle the small blond. Roxas laughs and then stops, looking at Keith.]
He's making a rattling noise again.
no subject
Purring? [Yeah, sounds like Bacon is now purring.] That means he's happy.
no subject
no subject
[He's not like. An expert or anything. But that seems like a safe enough assumption.]
It's a good thing.
no subject
I like him. He's soft and cute and sweet. He chases off crows. I don't like those much.
no subject
[One of the trio of cats that he'd frequently find at his side, so... yeah. Good company.]
Sounds like you'll probably want to find another cat to keep chasing off the crows if they're that big of a problem.
no subject
Are there bigger cats?
no subject
Maybe a snow leopard would be overkill for a problem like crows, though.]
Yeah, there have gotta be some kind of house cats that are just naturally bigger.
[Why wouldn't there be?]
no subject
Also he can't imagine a bigger cat than Bacon, so until he sees one, Roxas is skeptical.]
Where do I find more cats?
no subject
[And, you know, come to think of it,] With how many temples with cats there are around, there are probably a good number of strays out here, too.
[What are the chances that other pet cats have found themselves in a similar situation to the ones he's chasing down? Where their home just up and disappears, leaving them behind? It probably happens all the time.]
no subject
Which would make hunting one down much easier.]
So just look around... What's the best way to catch a cat? Or are they all like Bacon and just come up to you and want attention?
no subject
no subject
Okay. So when you have a home and take Bacon back, I'll go find a new cat to be my friend.
[Cats make for the best friends.]
no subject
[... Maybe there needs to be a few more details of this plan laid out.]
My name's Keith, by the way. [Details like 'names' and 'how to get in touch with each other again' would help.]
no subject
I'm Roxas. It's nice to meet you, Keith.
no subject
Yeah, same. [Especially since it seems like Roxas is a reliable enough person to entrust Bacon to for the time being, if he's been taking good care of him already. It's a comforting thought.] Do you have your phone with you? I can give you my number, and I that way I can let you know when I'm settled in a new place.
