[ It’s finally the long-awaited day of their date and they’d made a stop here, purely on a whim. The café, after all, seems very pleasant and relaxing, which is something he thinks Chinatsu sorely needs.

Never mind that he probably smells like dog given the number of them living at Asclepius’s temple—but that isn’t important right now.

The multitude of cats congregating at his lap and hanging off of his shoulders are. Incredible. Turning to Chinatsu with a grin— ]

Heh, cute little guys, aren’t they?

[ First of all, this was not a date. This was Chinatsu for whatever reason agreeing to go with whatever this guy had planned. Admittedly, it was a cute cafe in terms of design and ambience.

Second of all, she was more of a dog person, but here she is. It's probably obvious too with how there were about ten cats on Sanada and zero on her. ]

....You didn't have to bring me to pet some cats, you know?

[ That makes the two of them—dog people, that is. Not that Sanada minds most animals in general, not when they’re being very sweet and cuddly and affectionate and d’aww… ]

Hey, this is supposed to be relaxing, right? Here— [ He deposits a kitten onto her lap. ] Why not give her a cuddle?

/SLAMS BACK IN HERE

[ Her hands shoot up mid-way when the feline is suddenly dumped on her. She looks at the creature, then him, as if confused as to what he wants her to do with it. ]

Uh..I don't think we're at the cuddling level just yet.

[ But she'll stroke the head, with a finger. Carefully. It at least doesn't seem offended by her touch, which helps relax a little more. ]

It's soft..

[ She grumbles, maybe admitting that it was a little nice to pet the kitty. ]

[ Success! Flashing her a grin, he leans over to give the little one a good petting as well. ]

Right? I’m sure you two will be friends in no time!

[ Except his petting might be a little too good with how the cat was starting to go back to him. Look, he's got a gentler touch. ]

Wha--Get your own cat!!

[Okay it's not hers but it was on her lap! Placed by him but details ]

[ He quickly pulls his hands away with a laugh, raising them up in a supplicating gesture. ]

It’s all yours, then~ Let’s see you work your magic on the little guy.

[ She eyes him for a few more seconds before giving her attention back to the cat, who was quite verbal about the loss of touch. She reaches out to pet at it again, trying to mimic how she saw Sanada do it. ]

You're..better at this stuff.. [ Yes, she's admitting to it. ]

How do you..comfort someone without making it look like that? [ She knows Shun is bothered--more than she is probably, but she also knows he's not a fan of being coddled and she's not very good at it either. But she wants to do..something for him. There has to be something she could do. ]

[ That's quite a segue, but he's not gonna call attention to that when she's finally opening up. Nice to finally hear the root of her problems, though— ]

Hmm…guess it comes naturally to me. [ Absently, he reaches out to give that kitten the scritches it demands so adorably, whereupon it quiets down, content to recline across both their laps. ]

I don't really think about it, y'know? I just do what I always do, and people take it for what it is.

[ Though he can imagine it's a hell of a lot different for her, what with her being so habitually abrasive and all… ]

[ Show off. ]

I'm not...really got at being gentle. It's not like I think how I do it is wrong, but it's not always...the best way.

[ Not that Shun was much for soft. But she didn't think being hard on him would help either. He's already having it rough. ]

I don't know how else to cheer someone up...

I don’t think you should act any different. I mean, if you did that suddenly you’re more likely to worry that other person.

[ He chuckles. ]

I mean, if anything happened to me, I’d just be glad that you were the same Chinatsu as usual. And that's gonna matter more to me than anything else.

[ Why yes, there is the very blatant assumption that he knows Chinatsu will care if anything happens to him. You’re welcome~ ]

Are you saying it’ll be weird if I’m nice?

[ She gets what he’s saying, but still. ]

You used up your once chance. You’re not allowed to have anything else happen to you, understand?

[ Her eyes narrow, but she doesn’t look that mad either. More of..

Don’t you dare try to pull that shit again ]

[ He grins at that—a big, dumb, stupid, cheeky grin that implies…pretty much everything. Oh Chinatsu, you do care! ]

See? You’re already pretty nice! You don’t need to change a thing.

[ Her brows furrow at the sight of that stupid grin and she picks up the cat to shove its belly in his face. ]

I know I’m nice.

[ Just not that nice. ]

...I never asked but who’s your god anyway?

Hey— [ The cat likewise complains with a loud mewl at this insult. Come on, Chinatsu!!

He gently takes that cat away from her hands for the time being, and lets it crawl off elsewhere to groom and sulk. ]

Oh, my god? It’s Anduin. You know him?

[redmare]

......Nope.

[ Though she probably shouldn't comment on the name, being Sanada's god and all. But that sure was..different? ]

...So..if Anduin was sad..what would you do? Not sad, like, crying sad, more like...acting like he's not sad but is?

[ Asking for a friend. ]

[ Look, it’s easier to pronounce than his god name. He’ll take it. ]

Hmm, guess I could try taking his mind off of things by taking him out somewhere nice.

[ Basically what he’s doing with her. Imagine that… ]

Sometimes a change of scenery helps.

[ Alright, not the right words. He was trying to help her out here. ]

[ Seriously, was that his idea of fun? Sure, they're cute and all, but you can only pet something for so long!

Ugh, but the wasn't what she was going for still. ]

[ He laughs, though it’s unclear as to which part of her response tickles him more. Does it matter? ]
