Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are brought into small one-on-one meeting rooms as they appear, with a white-robed shinki offering them an explanation of their current role, the name of the god they will represent or the god they will serve, and directions to the temple that will be their new home.
They are cordially invited to a training session beginning in early afternoon, after they've had the chance to return to their homes, meet their new partners, and have their questions answered.

Morning/On the Road
- New gods and shinki are being packed off to their new temples for the morning to settle in and meet their partners -- this is also a good time to visit with new neighbors or explore the area! What does your new temple look like? Are you headed straight there, or taking the scenic route to get a better sense of your new surroundings? The Western District is still scarred from the aftereffects of a recent volcanic eruption and earthquake, with fissures in some of the roads and burn scars in the wild landscape. The volcanic ash, though, seems to be serving as fertilizer for vast swaths of unfamiliar and colorful wildflowers that line the roads despite the fact that the weather is late-February chilly.
Shinki Training
- A well-appointed dojo has been prepared for newcomers to practice their physical or magical arts. Outside, there are two impromptu target practice areas: one is for long-range weapons, with targets set up against hay bales at the other side of a wide, grassy area and a line drawn for the weapons' wielders to stand behind. The other is for borderlines, and a number of young children wearing short coats marked with Amaterasu's golden chrysanthemum on white are dashing around practicing their own borderlines against scary paper masks tied onto bushes or other haybales. The game seems to require a cutting borderline that will cut the mask without damaging the gardeners' hard work on the bushes.
Inside the dojo, there's room for several pairs to spar, and weapons are set up all along one wall, everything from polearms to rifles, chakrams to broadswords. They're all meant for practice, with edges dulled or padded to avoid any accidental deaths, but sparring partners will still have to be careful to avoid injury. Although there are many fewer white-robed shinki here than usual, except for the children, there is one adult shinki keeping an eye on things inside the dojo and one keeping an eye on things in the yard. They are willing to answer questions, help with borderlines or teach shinki new spells on request. Comment to the NPC REQUEST form to request a thread with one of them or if you have questions about handwaving an interaction.
Physical Training
- The last vestiges of winter have melted away from most of the Heavens, but one section of the Meeting Hall grounds appears not to have gotten the message. Snow is piled waist or even shoulder high, the trees and bushes show no sign of fresh leaves, and an ornamental pool is frozen as hard as a rock, with the drifting shadows of koi barely visible under the thick ice. It's the perfect opportunity to play in the snow, and many of the shinki children are already taking advantage of it, sliding on the ice or throwing snowballs.
For those who brave the heavy snow, they may discover an an old woman in the center of the frozen area. She's wearing heavy white makeup and a straw coat, and humming cheerfully as she pounds rice into mochi. Anyone who finds her will be offered freshly made mochi and a cup of warm sake to fortify them for the snowball fights!
Rest and Refreshments
- Gods and shinki who are finished with their training can step into a large room in the Meeting Hall that has been set up with comfortable cushions and low tables. Tea, liquor and a wide variety of savory dishes are available, with the drinks already set out on the tables and the savory dishes set up in chafing dishes on a buffet table along one wall. Guests can help themselves, settle in, chat, and make new friends. There's even a dessert table, well-stocked with plenty of chocolate, most of which seems to be mysteriously heart-shaped.
After eating, there are a variety of board and card games available for guests to play. From classic games like shogi, go and mahjong to more modern ones like Trivial Pursuit or Pictionary -- or Cards Against Humanity -- there's something for everyone.

In Summary:
- Get all the information you can handle
- Veteran new gods and shinki are welcome to volunteer showing the ropes
- Practice sparring or shinki magic
- Enjoy a buffet dinner and party games
- Have fun~

I have no idea. It seemed reasonable. I am a warrior not a gardener. That means I'm severely lacking any true expertise on the subject.

Alex taps her chin thoughtfully, pulling out her phone to see if the handy dandy internet could be of help. ]
Mm..not really seeing anything....What if we transplant the wildflowers? Dig up some of the soil its in then bring it to another area? Then we can find soil that hasn’t been affected and use it to replace the soil here?
[ It was probably going to be a lot of work, but it was a waste to give up now. ]
Ah-There’s some cleared out space in the forest near Oshun’s temple because of the lava. Maybe we can move them there?
no subject
[Iskandar stares at the flowers for a moment before adding. He has no idea who is this Oshun guy she is speaking of. Maybe some friend of her. ]
You sure that Oshun wouldn't mind us gardening on his land without permission?
[Look, it's not like he likes those weeds here. Still he wouldn't like to make an enemy of god he doesn't even know yet.]
no subject
I don’t know her all that well, but I don’t think she’ll mind. [ If how the temple was overrun by plants said anything about it. ]
She seems to like nature, and I think it’d make her happy to see something growing in that empty space.
no subject
I am truly sorry. I was wrong to assume Oshun was a god, not a goddess. Please forgive me.
no subject
Honestly, I hadn't heard of her until I I arrived here. [ Oshun wasn't as popular outside of the African continent, save for a few other countries. ]
The same with many of the other ones here. I hadn't realized how many there were...But it's interesting to learn about them.
no subject
True! True! I was surprised myself. Greek pantheon is quite numerous but here there are gods from all over the world. This is fascinating.
[He smiles.]
So? Where do we start?
no subject
Right...well..Do you have anything we can put the flowers in? Maybe..big bags or baskets? Teleporting there will be easy, but we'd still need something to carry them in/
[ Once they had those, they could get to the actual dirty work. ]
no subject
[Iskandar makes a mental review of his possessions trying to identify an object that could fit the description. Suddenly he has a revelation. Laundry basket!
If he would be able to locate it that is. They keep finding it in weirdest places.]
I think I may have something like that.
no subject
no subject
[Oh he knows. Unfortunately, that might not be enough. There's this huge stone building behind him to take into account while answering such tricky questions. It has a habit of "displacing" random objects on a whim.]
If it's still there. Otherwise, I'll have to look.
no subject
[ She's not going to intrude on his property...more than she already has..without his permission. ]
no subject
[Iskandar goes through a moment of an internal debate should they around the temple straight to the garden at the back, because that's where he left the basket last time, or is appropriate to take a detour. Hopefully, the wretched building won't do anything stupid. ]
no subject
[ She’ll let him lead, honestly fine with whichever way they would go. Alex was curious about the rest of his temple. If the front was this nice, who knows how great the rest of it is. ]
no subject
There the devastation brought by the exploding mountain is more prominent. Several more trees are missing from the neat rows and everything else is overgrown. Although the floral jungle is less tangled than in the front it still covers every possible thing living or inanimate in the vicinity.
If not for a bit of suffocating feel this sea of flowers stretching far to the end of the cliff that drops to the sea could even look beautiful.
And there's the basket. Right there where he left it. A pleasant surprise after a whole morning of toil.]
There it is!
no subject
Ah..this..may take a few trips.
[ Seeing the amount of foliage they'll need to deal with, this one basket wasn't going to do much. But, that won't deter them! ]
Shall we?
no subject
[See, he wasn't lying about the thing being an infestation. The place is practically overrun. The only living beings happy about the whole affair are three, white and very plump sheep wandering around and feasting on flowers. They don't seem to make much of a difference, unfortunately. But that doesn't deer them. On the contrary, they are on their merry way to becoming the fattest sheep the world has ever seen in the process.]
no subject
Which...took much longer than she thought. But somehow, she barely noticed the time pass as they tackled and wrestled with the invading plants, transporting them between temples and replanting them. There was something about his energy that just made things less tiresome, and certainly more fun. She'd ask about any stories he could share, which took her mind off the sweat and dirt. He had such a way with story telling that enraptured her. Sometimes, she'd pause just to watch and take pictures of the sheep. They were very cute.
Who knows how much time had passed, but it looked as if they managed to get all of them. Her breathing is a little heavy, not having worked this much in some time, but it was such a satisfying feeling. ]
What do you think?
[ She grins up at him, smearing more dirt on her cheek when she attempts to wipe at some sweat. ]
no subject
With Alex, all the flowers are now eager to cooperate. It doesn't make transplanting them less work. Yet from that moment it starts getting into the realm of possibility and out of the realm of sheer miracle.
The least he can do is provide her with entertainment. Fortunately, he has stories to tell that do not involve only war and blood and suffering.
So he tells her about his horse. How he got him and how everybody was afraid of him. What a glorious beast it was but also what a terrible coward, afraid of his own shadow, and quite temperamental at that.
About the scorching sands of Egypt and pyramids gleaming like mountains carved from pure sunlight. Carrying the weight of countless centuries and hiding all the mysteries of this ancient land behind their white walls.
About how water tastes better than even the most exquisite wine when you finally reach an oasis after miles of unrelenting desert.
About the hunting falcons from the banks of the great Oxos river. Swift and majestic. How they can spot even the tiniest of movements in the vast sea of grass below as they soar through the sky. A mouse or a rabbit. Nothing escapes their vigilance.
About lush jungles of Punjab with its tigers and elephants and monkeys.
That and many more stories he tells her. And he is surprised to discover how it fills him with peace. A rare feeling. Or is it the company. Not often he has a chance to meet such a caring and gentle person.
So when their work is done Iskandar is in a totally different mood.]
It looks fantastic!
[Because it really does. The trees are no longer in danger of being suffocated or collapsing under the combined mass of the overgrowth. Only the sheep seem quite perplexed by the change in scenery.]
no subject
With the trees cleaned up, his land looked even more impressive. ]
Hopefully they won’t grow back, but if any do, just let me know.
no subject
[No, he wasn't. He never just gives up. It is true, though, that he was quickly running out of options.]
Would you like to come inside? I don't know if you drink wine but I have tea if you don't.
[The tea selection actually belongs to Satya but Iskandar is sure she wouldn't mind sharing.]
no subject
[ A pleasant way to celebrate their hard work, right? And he was great company. For someone she just met, he had such a comforting presence. ]
no subject
Excellent! Then let's get inside.
[There is a spacious living room furnished in a very modern style behind the glass door that opens to the garden at the back of the Temple. It doesn't look like part of the same ancient stone building but it certainly is.
There's a couch, a little table and opposite to the couch a TV with a game console connected to it. A stack of game boxes indicates it's frequently used.
Iskandar leaves Alex on the couch and goes to the kitchen to survey the reserves. He pokes his head out of the kitchen door a moment later.]
Wine or tea? We have a couple of green ones, some fruity and I think one is called Earl Grey if that says anything to you. We also have coffee but I have no clue how one should prepare it.
[Iskandar has watched Waver make his signature Death Coffee many times but he's not sure of his own coffee making skills enough. They're not exactly presenting-it-to-the-guests level yet.]
no subject
Alex crawls over to pick up one of the games, reading the front, and then the description on the back. ]
Oh, um..Wine is fine. [ She didn't want him to do any extra work preparing anything. ]
no subject
Iskandar is back from the kitchen carrying two wine glasses and a bottle. When he notices what she's holding his smile widens.]
Do you play video games by any chance?
