Notes: First of all, post order is a myth, just start out with your character playing one of the game in the top levels I've prepared below and people can react to things as they happen. Don't worry about cohesive story, just go wild with tropes. Threadjacking is fine with me, go wild. Secondly, while some characters were definitely invited (Sanada, Minako, Davesprite), if your character has CR with Chikusa or the others in any way, you're definitely welcome to jump in. Just hit me up on plurk or PM this journal, and we can BS a reason for coming... even if that reason is just party crashing. Third, feel free to make a top level for whatever if you want to do something besides playing


It is done.

Finally, at long last, Chikusa is free from the self-inflicted hell of being forced to do the whole household's chores for a week. It's been a week of pure suffering, where Hakkai hasn't let him get much relief at all, but it's finally over with. Now, at long last, he can get to all the things he actually wants and needs to do.

....But the problem, Chikusa has found, is that after a week of hard work, his brain doesn't want to get to any other kinds of hard work... even if it's hard work that he actually wants to do. His life is fucking suffering.

For a good chunk of his morning, he stares emptily up at his ceiling, wondering what he should even do... but an idea comes to him while flipping back through the BBS- his story that he's working on, to be more exact. Oh, right... He said he would look into visual novels, didn't he? And that sniper anon...

It takes a little bit to get up regardless, and then some more time to take the cupboard money so that he can go down to the Far Shore... but that's fine. That's enough time to text some people he knows while going down to the Far Shore to get the appropriate game system and games.

And thus, that's how a small group has gathered in Hakkai's living room, a bunch of games spread out on the coffee table while Chikusa finishes setting up the game system on Hakkai's shitty old television.

"So just pick whichever one you want to try, I guess... And we can figure out who plays first after."

[Chikusa bought this game on recommendation. To be fair, Sniper Anon could never have known that a bunch of dumb teenagers would be playing it.]

[At least he can respect a fellow teen's lack of care for anything but their main goal, no matter how hormone-driven it may be. (Or whatever it could be said in Minako's case.) So he gives the barest indications of a nod.]

There's going to be a sort of... work party in a few days, in the game. Apparently. You can interact with all of the targets there. Interact with him, and accept going to a better one with him... It can lead to that kind of thing.

[He nudges his glasses up a little and lets that sink in.]

...But it doesn't get you his golden ending.

[ Minako starts to look more and more hopeful the more it's sinking in. This sounds great. Finally all this time (she hasn't even been playing that long..) she sunk into this game will have been worth it! Finally she'll get some interesting scene! Finally she'll conquer the heart of--

.. Wait, what? That last part seems to hit her like a freight train, making her jaw drop in disappointment. ]

Whaaat?! How does that make you miss that ending? That doesn't make any sense!

[Is Chikusa having fun at her expense? Chikusa might be having fun at her expense. That brief pause as he takes in her reaction could very well be him taking it all in. Or maybe not. It's a mystery!]

If I had to guess... I guess it's just a sexual relationship? I haven't read that far into the guide...

Although if you think otherwise, I'd listen to that reasoning...

[As long as he doesn't have to get too involved or do anything, it might be fun to just... see her go at it.]

Well.. It's just ridiculous!

[ Especially since Minako hasn't fully realised how bad ends or even just different ends work in these games - this is the first time she's playing them, after all. That, and she's just passionate about love. As usually. ]

Love is love, right? As long as you love each other, you should always get the best ending! If people think up fictional relationships, they might as well make them perfect while they're at it! With the best and most happy endings 100% of the time!

[At least someone is passionate in this room. Chikusa lets her go on about it, and considers it for a moment.]

...But if it's a game... that means there have to be consequences, right?

Consequences for what, having sex with each other? [ She puffs her cheeks up in a way that seems way too childish and ridiculous for the topic, but that's just how Minako works.. ]

That's just a normal part of love too! If anything should ruin the romance in the game, it's doing something really mean or cruel to him!

Consequences for picking the wrong route to a person's heart.

[...He thinks he likes the sound of that sentence. It's a good one. He thinks? Either way, he takes a moment to type that into his phone to save it in his notes. He's not sure what he'll use it for in his story, but he'll sure use it. Maybe. Probably.]

I haven't read through the rest of the guide... But there are things that can hurt people even if you don't mean it, right... Or stop a conversation from going...

So, maybe, something like that. I don't know.

[ Minako is still totally oblivious to Chikusa's romance writing shenanigans, so she doesn't think anything special of him typing on his phone. She figures it's just one of those Chikusa things. ]

So you're saying that guy doesn't want to have sex? [ She seems to ponder it for a moment and then sighs. ] Well, fine, I can get that! But not even wanting to kiss or show any signs of romance up until this point.. How can you call that a game involving romance? All this work talk is putting me to sleep!

Yeah, apparently it's supposed to have a lot to do with office politics or something...

[He doesn't feel bad about saying that right now. After all, the description was on the box, right? Admittedly, he didn't look too closely, just recognized the title... Well, whatever. Leaning over, he glances at the other games that are scattered around.]

I think the long wait is supposed to be... slow burn? [That's the word he's looking for, right] So when it finally happens, it feels better... or something. Either way, you can always pick another game if you want to give up on this one...

[ Minako lets out an exaggerated sigh and then dramatically lets herself drop backwards until she's just lying on her back. ]

I give up, Chikusa. This game has beaten me. [ Also said with the most dramatic possible tone, like this is some sort of huge deal. ] To think there was a game like this out there that could actually beat a love expert like me...

[This is way more dramatics than one would normally express over a game, and when there are like three other ones around... but, hey, he's learning that Minako is just... like this. Against all logic, she's like this. So he slumps a little over the seat of his chair.]

[ And she is indeed going to continue to be like this if Chikusa gives her what she wants so easily.

.. Okay, no, she'd continue to be like this regardless. But his answer seems to excite her anyway, making her sit back up in no time at all and staring at him with a sudden energy in her eyes that didn't seem to be there at all only a moment ago. ]
