[CLOSED] Happy is the home with at least one cat
Who: Sora (
oathkeeper) and Repliku (
falseshore)
What: An unwanted guest in the middle of the night
When: April 12th, late night/early morning
Where: Baldr's temple-house
Warnings: None yet
[Most nights at the seaside temple were fairly uneventful, at least for a house with two teenage boys living in it. Said boys were both asleep, so it was relatively quiet aside from the ambient noises of the nearby ocean and associated wildlife.
Wildlife that's managed to make its way into the house. Possibly due to Sora's apparent inability to lock any of the doors ever, but either way, a creature's made its way into the kitchen.
Riku finds it first, having gone to the kitchen to get a glass of water, stopping a few steps into the kitchen. Sitting on the counter is a cat--clearly not a living one, as the slight purple glow around it immediately proves--who doesn't seem particularly fazed by Riku's presence, even when he walks by it to get a glass out of a cabinet.]
How did you get in? You don't belong in here, shoo shoo!
[Unfortunately, as with many cats, it ignores Riku's shooing motion, simply moving out of his arm's reach and down the counter, pausing to rub against a mostly-empty metal canister. Which clatters noisily to the floor, Riku cringing at the sound.]
Stupid cat! Go on, get ou--OW!
[He tries at least shoving it off the counter, getting a nice blight burn for his trouble.]

....?
[It wasn't until he heard Riku shouting his butt off that he gets startled and jumps up out of his bed and comes down the stairs.]
Riku? What's going on-
[As he comes down he sees the demon thing glowing there in the dark and Riku trying to shove it off the counters.]
WUAA- What is that?!
no subject
[Sorry for the irritation Sora, he's kind of tired and cranky and did not sign up for this this late at night.
Sora might note that for all the commotion, the cat is relatively calm unless Sora happens to get near it, then it'll flatten it's ears and hiss at him.]
no subject
He gets closer, and as predicted the cat hisses and he takes a step back.]
Why does this keep happening!
[But Sora stills, eyebrows furrowing. This was the smallest ayakashi he'd ever seen before. And it looks like a cat, and those two cute little tails and cute little ears...]
...It's kind of cute isn't it.
no subject
[He gives Sora an incredulous look--Sora might not be able to see it very well in the dark--at the mention of the thing being 'cute']
What? Cute? Sort...of? But we should get rid of--augh, don't touch me!
[As it tries to rub against his arm again.]
no subject
He knew he should be a super responsible god right now and do super responsible things but...
He just starts laughing more.
Sorry, not sorry, Repliku.]
no subject
[Stop laughing this is totally serious.
To him. He totally didn't deserve this.]
Stop laughing! The thing isn't cute if it's not a real cat!
no subject
Too funny. Okay. Okay.
He takes a big breath and rubs his eye, the laughing finally stopping.]
Come on Riku, look at him. He's not trying to hurt you.
[The little thing lets out a super cute mewl and paws at Riku.]
I dunno if I can kill something that cute when he obviously loves you so much!
no subject
[Not that that's stopping him from tentatively 'pawing' back at the spectral cat with a couple fingers, something it seems to like. Is it really bad?]
Tch. I don't want to kill it either...
no subject
The serious thing about this situation was that the cat wasn't attacking them. It seemed to be pleased to just be near Riku and to be touched. Was this for real happening?]
He doesn't seem to...want to attack us? This is really weird.
[He comes closer and puts his hand out tentatively for the cat to smell. After all, he didn't want to get hissed at again. It sniffs for a moment before it presses it's head against his hand. He winces slightly but it was more like a shock of static electricity than a burn, but the purple coloring does form.]
Riku...
no subject
Maybe it's...not as violent as the other ones? I don't know. We could just leave it for the night, and if it's still hanging around in the morning, figure out what to do with it the--Sora, really?
[Do not touch the blight kitty, Sora.]
no subject
I'm okay with that! [He replies next, bouncing slightly on his heel,] We can let it stay here and in the morning if nothing's wrong with it or with the temple maybe we can keep it?
[He looks the cat over again, watching it's big ayakashi cat eyes blink at him.]
I mean... if it grows any bigger or gets angry we might have to kill it... But maybe we don't have to! Maybe there's a way to change it back into a spirit cat?
[He'd have to ask around or maybe have Data-Roxas come see if that was possible.]
no subject
Yeah, that sounds good to me...
[He yawns widely, the cat glancing away from Sora at the action.]
Maybe there's a way. Maybe if we find it, we can use it against the ayakashi we actually do want to get rid of.
no subject
[The cat mewls loudly and trots back over to Riku Replica, asking for pets. This makes Sora chuckle again.]
I dunno Riku I think he wants to be your pet more than my pet. Maybe you should give him a name?
no subject
[Riku doesn't look particularly like he wants to dispense pets, but he reaches out so that the cat can bump its head against his hand, wincing slightly at the small jolt of pain.]
What? A name? I...uh...
[He was not prepared for this.]
I dunno...what about...'Shadow' or something?
no subject
Shadow... Really, Riku?
[He crosses his arms and tilts his head. That can't be the best he could come up with.]
no subject
no subject
Well it's your cat! Look at him! You gotta give him a super cool name!
no subject
It does not. C'mon...how about Darkflare? Nekorei? Tamaneko? Spectre? Murasaki?
[He did just suggest 'cat spirit' and 'purple' for possible 'cool' names.]
no subject
[Sora laughs, giving Riku a nod. Those names were way more creative.]
Any of those names are way better than Shadow! Pick one of those.
[Honestly, giving a name to the ayakashi cat was probably a really bad idea. That meant attachment, and if they had to kill it in the morning that would be bad news. But right now, Sora couldn’t really think about that. It would be nice to have a pet around. And he was serious about trying to find a way to restore it to spirit form.]
no subject
[Those names weren't cool, they were dorky. But whatever, Sora's happier and off of his back, so Riku's happier.]
I'll be surprised if it sticks around.
no subject
[Sora smiles at Riku and reaches out to pet the cat again. Surprisingly it lets him and he scratches it gently under the chin. He could feel the burning sensation of blight on his fingers and it hurt somewhat, but it wasn't nearly as bad as an actual attack from an ayakashi.
He pulled his hand away slowly and looked at his fingers.] We should probably get used to washing our hands a lot, if it sticks around.
[He turns to go wash them in their cleansing water.]
