[Ren invited Kairi to come over so they could relax and chat. He didn't mind having her company. The cats didn't seem to mind it either. One kitten with bright orange fur runs towards Kairi with excitement.]

Well... honestly I thought you were going to wait for me at your god's temple so we could come down here together. But I understand if that didn't make sense over the BBS.

[ She sits down across from him as she explains: ]

I can't just touch your god's temple and use it to teleport down to the Near Shore, but you could have touched it and taken both of us at the same time. I used a friend's temple, in the end.

Yeah it's a bit harder to explain it over text. We made it anyways and I'm glad.

[ He smiles and nods. ]

I don't come here too often myself..It's lively down here.

Yeah... and it's hard for me to know what kinds of things new shinki do and don't know about. There's so many little things.

[ She tilts her head curiously. ]

Just how long has it been for you?

About a month or so? Maybe a bit more than that.

[Ren puts his fingers together and ponders on it for a minute.]

It doesn't seem like a lot of time at all. I don't even know the basics spells.

[ Kairi waves a hand dismissively. ]

Oh don't worry about that. I didn't even know spells aside from Borderline existed before I was here at least a month, 'maybe more than that' as well.

[ She folds her hands and rests her chin on them. ]

Which ones have you heard about that you'd be interested in learning?

I've read about bind, truth and silence. It's one thing to gain knowledge and another to do it yourself.

[ He can't just teach himself how to do things so quickly. ]

Can you tell me more about bind?

[ She chuckles a little. ]

Well, Bind's a good place to start - it's the one I started with too, actually! All of them sound ridiculously simple, but it takes more willpower to succeed at any of the, ah, harder spells like Truth and Silence.

[ She points at him with the halberd finger positioning that are used to create borderlines. ]

You say a shinki's name - their symbol name I mean, the one their god calls for them - and you say "Bind!" with this hand motion. That's all there is to it.

[ She pulls her hand back. ]

Except, for example, you wouldn't be able to do that and succeed at Binding me unless I let you or gave you some kind of advantage.

That sounds awfully familiar. I had it used against me once and it wasn't pleasant. Could be useful in combat.

[ Ren scratches his ears and touches his Shinki name marking. ]

Which spell do you like the most?

Well... I actually think Umbra is the most practical, but you hadn't mentioned it yet. Though I have to ask... what sounds familiar? It didn't sound like you were talking about Bind just now.

[ But maybe she's just not reading him well yet. ]

That's right, Bind. I saw it used once in a training session.

Do you attend those?

[He learns a lot with the newer Shinki and their gods. Maybe Kairi joins them?]

Oh just about every chance I get! Every few months something comes up, but I'm there pretty often.

[ She pulls out her phone and scrolls for a bit, finding a picture of the pamphlet they hand out at training sessions to new shinki. She turns to show the picture to her new friend. ]

I like handing out the pamphlets I helped write when I can, too.

[ So that was her doing? It seems like he's learning more about Kairi and that makes him very happy. She's a nice girl. ]

Did you help make this then?

[ He gives her one of the hand outs from the previous training session.]

Well... I rephrased some things that a friend put together once before. Except he was a god, describing everything for shinki, so it was a little bit... difficult for some shinki to trust what he had to say.

So I try not to take credit for it... entirely. I just reorganized a couple of things that he said.
