Multicoloured kindnesses, met by chance, one by one
Who: Yuna and EVERYONE. No CR? No problem, drop on by to make new friends!
When: March 21st, all day
Where: Shinju's Temple
What: Hanami birthday party yayayay
[With a blanket invitation delivered, the only matter of business left is ensuring the temple is set up nicely for a gathering!
The main attraction of the day, of course, being flower-viewing in the temple's courtyard. With light snacks and refreshments lined up at tables inside the building itself and blankets and pillows available to pick up for lounging under the flowering branches, the 'viewing' part of the day should be set. As winds blow lazily through the area, blossoms in an array of colors are occasionally shaken free from the tree, falling in gentle showers to the ground below, creating a serene, relaxing atmosphere. A handful of paper lanterns have been strategically placed around the grounds as well, ensuring that anyone who happens to arrive or stay as the sun sets can still have a good view.
Elsewhere in the temple, the room Yuna uses largely for crafts appears to have spilled over somewhat. There are a few stands set up with origami paper, watercolors and brushes arranged at a table with a few chairs, card stock, glue, colored pencils, stickers, ribbons, and most importantly, there are flowers. There are flowers everywhere. Some arranged tastefully in vases, some dried and pressed and left alongside the other craft supplies, clearly for use in tandem with whatever you feel like making with the other things left out in such a tantalizing way. Go ahead. Make some stuff.
And, while the invitation had been extended to pretty much anyone wanting to drop by, should any of Yuna's friends decide to stay a little longer, she'll let them know of a cozy hot spring bath in one of the back rooms of the temple. Towels will be provided, of course, so why not stay and have a soak to wind the day down with?
The hostess herself will be roaming about the party in high spirits, ready and willing to top up beverages, share a snack, or just have a nice chat. So - kick back! Enjoy the sights!]

Yo!
[ That's not how you greet people ]
no subject
[ Mordred yelps and springs to her feet at the unexpected contact. Everything she'd been contemplating is instantly overwritten by a wave of anger and the shinki spins around to face her assailant. ]
You think that was funny you stupid son of a—
[ Her voice trails off when she sees who it is. ]
Caster, you dumbass! I should poke your eyes out for that!
no subject
I'd rather you not, I like keeping them as a pair!
[ Then he gives Mordred a pat in the shoulder, his hand staying there. ]
Already tired from the festivities?
[ It's his way of asking if everything's okay. There was some damn introspection happening here moment ago ]
no subject
Mordred shakes her head, brushing his hand aside. ]
Nah, it isn't that, I just...
[ She hesitates to admit that something is genuinely bothering her, especially when she should be enjoying Yuna's party. But then again Caster might actually be able to offer some insight.
Mordred gives a sharp sigh before turning away and plopping herself back onto the steps. A few moments pass and it seems like she isn't going to say anything further.
Then... ]
Were you over at that River Festival a little while ago. You know, the one with the boats?
no subject
Not for long, but yeah. I was there.
[ That day sure was eventful and for many reasons ]
Let me guess, you found a familiar face among the dolls?
no subject
Yeah, how'd you— Nevermind. Did you see one like that too?
no subject
I didn't have enough time to study the magic involved. [ His impulsiveness led him to abandon the site entirely when- ] I found the doll that wasn't supposed to be there and left.
[ But enough about him ]
What have you seen?
no subject
[ Which means getting hit in the head by a boat didn't make her hallucinate. Even knowing that, she still feels weird talking about what happened that day. ]
I had a friend once, her name was Kanade. She disappeared months ago but then I found a doll that looked exactly like her except it was like someone tried to burn it and then drew eyes all over one side. When I picked it up...
[ A moment of hesitation. ]
I swear I could hear her talking to me.
no subject
[ Who even made these dolls? And why they could so accurately pinpoint who of them was gone? That's the most creepy part of it. ]
I don't know how, but either the dolls carried some "memories" or they could trigger vivid recollection of memories in those who touched them.
[ He pats Saber's arm in a friendly gesture ]
We'll find them. We'll find who made those dolls. [ And then they will kick their ass ]
no subject
[ That tracks. Unlike the apparitions that some people saw, Ghost-Kanade didn't really say anything new to her. But what was the point of making something like that? Were they just trying to piss people off? Because it definitely worked.
Her expression mellows at the arm pat, and a tiny smirk starts to form at the corner of her mouth. ]
Yeah, and when we do I'll break their hands so they can't make anything that dumb ever again.
[ Thinking about revenge is oddly soothing for Mordred— it's actually something to look forward to instead of dwelling on those strange events.
Her attention gradually turns to the blossoming tree in the courtyard. Hana's probably gonna have to clean up all those petals later. ]
I know you were probably just going to laze around at your temple today but... I'm sure Yuna's grateful that you showed up.
[ Which is Mordred for "I appreciate it". ]
no subject
He's supporting this idea (and thank the gods there is no Zelda around to wonder again why is she even keeping them) ]
Hey, I can't ignore an invitation from such a powerful goddess. How rude that would be! [ Spring in full bloom is a sight to behold. After it comes summer and then-- it will be a year. What a strange thought. Might make his word sound a bit nostalgic ] Sounds like you really found a place here.
[ Not every shinki gets that. ]
no subject
[ She grins, nudging him sharply in the side.
The smile becomes a little more wistful at his latter comment. ]
Heh, yeah I was a pretty great person when I was alive, so obviously I'd get a cushy afterlife like this.
[ She honestly doesn't have a clue what sort of person she was but she seems pretty confident about her greatness all the same. ]
I don't want to sound ungrateful but... sometimes I feel like I'm meant for more than this.
no subject
Cushy gets boring at times? [ To an extent he gets that. They're kind on a cleaning duty here. ] What shores are calling you?
[ Maybe something can be done about the whole more than this. ]
no subject
[ She straightens a bit and folds her arms. ]
I mean, I'm a shinki and a shinki is supposed to kill Ayakashi, right? But it's not like I can gain much renown by striking them down when Yuna's the one doing the actual striking.
[ Being the weapon instead of the wielder is something that's frustrated her since day one. She raises her hand to eye level and watches as tiny flecks of scarlet lightning dance about her fingers as she flexes them. ]
I don't really understand why but I'm really strong, Caster, way stronger than a lot of other shinki. I should be able to use that strength to fight the way I want to.
no subject
A long time ago I was a weapon my king pointed at his enemies. A shield that didn't allow them to cross the ford. Of course, I wasn't those things in most literal sense- [Like shinki are ] -but in all honesty that feels way more natural to me than sitting on the other side of things.
[ While Caster does enjoy freedom Far Shore brings, the responsibility of being a leader, this completely different kind of duty. One he possibly wouldn't pick if he had a choice ]
They totally messed our role assignment- [ Because that's a place for a joke, surely. He goes serious after that though ] What I want to say is- there are fame and glory in being the best to serve and the best to follow orders. But this is not the only path. If you feel constricted by it, seek another way.
[ He clicks his tongue ]
There are other enemies to fight out there than just ayakashi. There are ways to protect on your own terms, rather than those forced upon you.
[ And now it's time to light up that cig with a snap of fingers ]
no subject
As Caster continues to speak, Mordred resists the urge to interject a few light-hearted jabs at some of his comments. Instead, she listens earnestly, finding the implication that he'd rather be a shinki surprising. Someone like Caster, who seemed so at home with doing his own thing, is completely opposite to the role of a shinki— at least the way Mordred currently understands it.
A lot of what he's said makes sense to her, though some of it will take more time to parse. Mordred seems satisfied with what she's heard for now— particularly that there are options open to her even they aren't obvious at this moment. ]
Maybe next time I ask you for advice you could try just giving me a simple straight answer instead of cryptic old-man speech.
[ She's grateful... Really. ]
