[ Admittedly, Shiro had been about to call the others for a little celebration. Nothing too fancy--he figures Pidge isn't the type to like elaborate get-togethers. Just... her friends, gifts, a cake. That had been before Pidge had texted him.

Lance is gone. And Pidge's temple must be so lonely without him.

He's quick to go, and he opens the door. He's juggling a boxed cake in one hand and a thermos of tea. Yukina perches on his shoulder. ]

Pidge? Where are you?

[Pidge, for her part, has forgotten it's her birthday. She had been looking all over her temple for Lance once she realized he wasn't around.

So she's been sitting in her room. Covered by blankets as if hiding away could make the day end quicker.

Shiro will find Bae Bae whining as he enters the temple, alongside the rooster, Newton. Follow them as they head to Pidge's room?]

Oh, hey Bae Bae.

[ He gives Bae Bae a lil scritch, and Yukina decides Bae Bae is the perfect steed. She hops down, perching on his back. Shiro sighs a little, but he follows the animals and knocks on Pidge's door. ]

I've got a special delivery for a special bird.

[Bae Bae appreciates the attention, though he's a little weirded out at first by Yukina. But she's not scratching or clawing, so he rolls with it.

It takes a few moments before Pidge comes to the door, looking more like a blanket burrito than the small girl.]

Shiro...

[ He gives her a smile, and while he wants to hug her... he still has the box of cake and thermos of tea in hand. ]

Hey. Mind if I put this stuff down?

Sure...

[Just let her move aside and have the animals all come in to get on her bed. Which is a mattress on the floor. Don't ask.]

[ Pidge................................................

He puts the box and thermos down... then gently pulls her into a hug. ]

I'm sorry, Pidge.

[The hug isn't reacted to at first. Then, she lets out a quiet sob and returns it tightly.]

[ He doesn't say anything. Not yet. Instead, he just holds Pidge close and lets her cry. It's best to just... let her be, right now. ]

[Crying happens for a while. She didn't think she'd miss Lance so much, but when he disappeared, everyone else she missed came up, too. Pidge is crying for Lance, for her family, for friends that aren't here... and it leaves her feeling drained when she pulls away.]

I'm sorry...

Hey.... It's better to let it out than keep it all bottled up. And I'm guessing you miss a lot of people who aren't here.

[ He pulls away a little, so he can look at her. He tries not to think about Keith leaving, next. It makes his heart contract. Because even if Keith doesn't remember him, not having his best friend here hurts so much more. ]

You don't ever have to apologize for being upset and letting that out.

[She nods, rubbing her eyes.]

There's so much we have to do back home, but we're stuck here... and people are leaving almost every day, and then new ones show up... what if Lance comes back? I don't think I can handle him coming back and not knowing who I am again.

[ He puts his hands on her shoulders. ]

... I know it hurts to think about. But we can't dwell on what might happen. We'd get stuck thinking of all the things that could go wrong, and believe me... It's never a good thing to dwell on the worst outcomes.

Shiro... [She nods.] You're right... and Lance would hate me crying over him.

It's okay to cry, Pidge. Sometimes, it just gets to be too much. Besides, I think he'd be more upset if you pushed down those feelings and ignored them.

I know. I just hate crying. People here aren't like you guys, they're not as accepting of me. If I cried in front of them, they'd just treat me like a weepy girl.
