The true joy of love brings a thousand tears
Who: Ovelia and Agrias
When: Sometime in mid-late April
Where: The Near Shore
What: Finding reasons to smile.

[ While Ovelia was fairly certain Agrias hadn't figured out her reaching out on the network for answers and empathy was her own words, it was also obvious both with their emotional connection as shinki and goddess AND Ovelia's general lethargy that once more that darkness in her heart and mind was weighing heavily on the shinki. And while normally simply spending time with her in her room, reading silently, just being near her helped, at some point it had been suggested they go on an outing together into The Near Shore. It seemed like a silly and fleeting thing to indulge in, to Ovelia, but... perhaps silly and fleeting was precisely what she needed.
She'd picked out a somewhat more modern dress to wear out, so they'd draw less attention. The last thing she really wanted right now was curious and possibly judgemental eyes on her, and waited for Agrias near the pedestal on the dock just outside the temple bordering the lake it sat upon, the one they used to teleport to and from the near shore, looking out on the horizon and feeling the breeze catch her hair. ]

She never once showed any such hesitation and lethargy when spending time together. Ovelia needed her to be strong and enduring, and that was what she had resigned herself to be. Though truthfully, Agrias could not help but become increasingly more and more worried.
"Gods be merciful, is this truly Ovelia?"
The knight would ask herself, concerned over the darkness that gripped the Queen's very soul.
It was that same concern that prompted the very same trip they were about to embark on.]
Ovelia!
[She approached from the distance.]
Apologies for my tardiness, I was simply...
[But she can't help but notice.]
Ah, 'tis a lovely garment. The lady wears it well.

My thanks, milady. [ She gave a bow, straightening out and offering an honest, if tired looking smile. ] However... do you intend to go out in your armor?
no subject
She gives herself a quick once-over.]
'Twas mine intent, aye.
Have I overlooked something?

[She takes a moment to clear her throat.]
I'm afraid I've simply... not taken much time to look into additional garments for myself.
Mine armor is what I feel most at ease in. And maintaining it is but a simple matter to me.

[For as much attention as she could bring to herself by going to world the living, in any case.]
Would you be willing to assist me, Ovelia? I admit I know so little regarding modern attire, and you've already a ways ahead of this knight.
no subject
I know not more than you, milady, but I suppose being fashionable comes more naturally to me, regardless... Ah, not to offend, I mean! [ She waved her hands. ]
That is... I would be happy to help select something for you.

[No pressure, right?
But in actuality, Agrias already trusted Ovelia with her with her life.
So why not trust her with fashion choices?]
Shall we be off? I admit to being curious as to what our trip shall yield.

Which was why their first stop would be a shopping district in the living world, full of little boutiques and other shops they could explore. She'd take her, first, to the place where she'd obtained the dress she was wearing. They had a vintage style that appealed to Ovelia. ]
Tis a good place to begin. The tailor here is quite enamored with the fashions more familiar to you and I. It inspires them.

The knight's eyes were captivated almost immediately.
There was a sense of familiarity to the garments on display, yet they'd also been adapted to a more current style.]
'Tis clear that they possess a fair amount of skill. I should want to praise them for their efforts.
[Praise was all fine and good, though not the reason for their visit.]
Ah, I suppose I should... find a garment that catches my attention, then.

Though I doubt any selection will fail to satisfy. This dressmaker's talents shine, as does milady's natural aesthetic.

Much more extravagant, by comparison.
She looked, and looked.
... And looked some more.
But didn't really seem to be any closer to making a choice.]
Forgive me. I simply know not where to begin.
'Tis overwhelming, in a sense.
Shameful, even. That such a simple choice eludes me.
no subject
Be not ashamed, milady. Tis nothing to fret over so much. [ It definitely seemed trivial compared to what they'd both been through, mentally, lately. Thankfully, Ovelia was quick with a solution, picking out a particular outfit she'd eyed and had thought would look great on Agrias. ]
Here. This should fancy you.

And then she stares at it a bit longer.]
'Tis so unusual, the style. And the material, quite unlike any I have ever worn.
[She doesn't seem to dislike it, thought.]
Yet, that is also the very reason I've found myself within these walls.
I should... like to try this on.

[Off to the dressing room she was went, after a bit of guidance. She did not want to leave Ovelia alone for very long, though undoing the entirety of her armor was fair delay.
It took some time, though the knight eventually stepped back out.]
'Tis very... light.
[Agrias kept looking at herself, feeling particularly self-conscious and hyper aware of what she was wearing. She hadn't really observed herself much in a mirror yet, even.]
What does the lady think?
no subject
Beautiful... Milady is as lovely as one could be, in such a dress...

It was a good sensation to be having, one that was a welcome change from the darkness that continued to make it's presence known in Ovelia.
Admiration, and fondness.
Though was that really their extent?]
Your words truly flatter me, Ovelia.
Truth be told, I've sometimes envisioned myself had I chosen a path different from that of a knight.
no subject
I can hardly imagine you as anything but, but to hear such a thing tickles the imagination. What would you have done, milady, had you not taken up arms as a protector?
no subject
Ever have I been in the service of my kingdom and its people. A different trade... perhaps I would've found myself confounded not by mere garments.
Since the lady has asked, what else would she see me as, if not a knight?
no subject
Though one supposes that is not so truly different, when thought of broadly.
no subject
'Tis a sentiment I must needs agree with!
Truly, had I not chosen the path of knighthood, I would've surely found myself still serving my kingdom.
A certainty, I feel.
