Mission 40
Who:Sotero, Bayek of Siwa, Alex Benedetto
When:April 25th 2017
Where:the far shore, abandoned temples
What: Alex and Bayek are practicing with his vessel form when they bump into someone unexpected.
Come, Renki!
[ Although it had only been a few days since Bayek arrived, they both agreed to learning more about his vessel form and its abilities. Team work was also key when dealing with any adversaries, and it was best to practice that before any real ones appeared. Bayel's ability seemed to allow Alex to see through his eyes, a strange connection shown by the mark of Horus around her eye. There seemed to be some marking on her hands as well, but they weren't sure yet what those might mean.
The view from the sky was amazing, but also something that threw her off as she was still on the ground, so getting used to that was also a priority. ]
How is it up there, Bayek?

How is it up there, Bayek?

[Apart from the view from above the shared sight give something else. Certain things appear to glow. It's a may be faint light. It may be almost blinding. The colors differ. They are white and gold and red.
Red is obvious. Danger. There were sections of ruined temple's roof they visited that glowed bright red. As if telling do not step under me. After closer inspection they looked as if they could collapse any moment.
Gold is rare. Bayek doesn't yet know what all the things marked with gold have in common.
Sometimes it marks living things. Animals. Birds. Some plants. Maybe they're medicinal? Do they have a special meaning?
Sometimes places. There was one edge of a cliff marked gold. Difficult to reach but the view it offered on the surrounding landscape was worth all the effort.
Other times it marks objects. Like that broken statue of some forgotten god or goddes they found half-burried in the ground. It was missing a head and bearing no signs that would make it possible to identify.]
I think I have a theory what are those white areas. Do you see the places that glow white?
[There's a pattern to all places that glow white. They form a path. A trail of sorts.]
I think they mark a path. There's a straight way up if you wanted to climb that abandonded temple over there.
[From ground up to the carved beam, to the brass ring on the side of the pillar to the first of the set of horizontal beams. That one wide enough to form a perch you could sit on. All they way up to the roof. Could be quite a view from up there.]
no subject
White..yeah, I see it.
[ She sees the trail, and the path it highlights. ]
Alright, I'll head over there. [ Good thing she's not in heels.
She makes her way to it, almost tripping a few times when she focused too much on Bayek's sight.
The roof was partially gone, and plants were growing from the ground, a little like in Oshun's temple. But this was clearly theirs now. The wood was breaking a part, and it barely held itself up. ]
You know..when the other disappeared, there usually wasn't anything left. A few items, but not the structure itself. I wonder why these stayed though..

[He makes another circle. This time zoning in on the building in question. There's one wall completely swallowed by the plant life on the side where part of the roof is missing. It's construction barely holding by the tangle of the greenery but rotten right through. No wonder the safer route is outside. The place looks deserted.
But then something glimmers down below. It's only a blink. A brief moment. A flash of gold before it's gone.]
Hm, maybe it's not time just neglect. Do we even know how things decay in the Heavens? The idea of anything being in this state of disrepair seems odd in a place like this.
[Bayek stops hovering over the temple roof for a moment. Nothing. Maybe it was just light playing tricks on him. He makes another circle but as he's on his way back to Alex it's there again. He tries to track it but it eludes him. Only bursts of faint gold indicate that it's there. As if it was hiding on purpose. It. Maybe that's no it.]
Alex? Did you see that?
[Someone is there. The golden glow hops all over the place. Whatever is its cause, it is clearly aware of their presence and trying to stay out of sight.]
This temple may not be as deserted as we thought. Unless Far Shore has some really big predators. I don't like either option.

There are ayakashi sometimes, but..It didn't look very big. Maybe we can deal with it?
[ Would be another good way to practice. So she starts to head where Bayek had spotted the flickering gold subject. Whatever it was must be worth checking out, right? ]
no subject
He has no idea they're nearby. ]
no subject
Let's find out. Maybe it's somebody who needs our help.
[After one last circle around the place he returns to Alex landing on the protective glove. Eagle talons are sharp. Even if the eagle in question tries to be extra careful the glove is a must. ]

She holds out her hand to let Bayek perch on the glove right before approaching the dilapidating temple. She pauses and looks over at him. Was that someone crying?
She approaches, looking around until she spots a familiar form. Her voice is soft and she moves more carefully so she doesn’t startle him. ]
Sotero?
no subject
It's you...
[ One of the people who helped him escape. He rubs the tears out of his eyes, but doesn't make an effort to get away from her. He just turns his face a little and tucks himself up smaller. ]
Leave me alone.
no subject
[If Bayek wasn’t in his eagle form he would definitely ask some other questions. Like “what happened” and “what are you doing here all alone” for example. But the way he is now only Alex would hear him. So all of those need to wait.]
You know him, don't you? Do you know where he lives?
[This is not a safe place for children. Something must have happened or he wouldn’t be that scared. Maybe he’s lost? They should take him back to his home.]
no subject
Yes, but I don't know where..[ Is all she can tell Bayek. She really didn't know much other than the heavens being after him for some reason. ]
Sotero, it's not safe out here. Why don't we go back to the temple I'm staying at?
[ She crouches down, holding her free hand out to him. ]
I promise you'll be safe there.
no subject
[ He tries to scoot back more. ]
It's not safe anywhere! If you guys can kill Talos-neesan, you can kill anyone you want! Votelli's dumb for trusting any of you!
[ He practically shouts it at her. ]
I tried going home, but I can't! Just leave me alone!
no subject
Look, Bayek, return.
[ As he transforms, she looks back at Sotero. ]
He wants to help you too, okay? He's the one who spotted you here.
[ Talos..the name was familiar. That woman from the compound? So he knew her? ]
Please, Sotero, what's wrong? We can't help you if we don't know.
no subject
No one is here to harm you. It's like Alex said. We just want to help. I'm Bayek.
[He smiles.]
That Talos, was she someone from your family?
no subject
O-oh. [ As if he felt a little silly about overreacting over something like a shinki connection. Or that he still didn't know much about that himself.
He looks away, his arms wrapping tightly about his knees once more. ]
Talos-neesan... she was... No, but. Sort of. [ That sure does make everything clear, doesn't it? ] She was really strong. I liked her. And now she's gone and it's all your fault! I don't want to be here anymore!
[ His mood keeps swinging back and forth between fear and tearful grief and anger so quickly that not even he can keep up with it all. He just lashes out because they're the only ones here at the moment. Which is even scarier in itself. ]
no subject
She moves a little closer to him, and slowly pulls him into a hug, though she won't hold him too tightly. ]
I'm sorry you lost someone important...you must be hurting so much..
[ If he doesn't pull away, she'll softly stroke his hair. ]
no subject
Poor boy, his sister is gone, no wonder he's lashing out. Is he in danger from the same people? What can they do for him? If anything? What kind of trouble he's got himself involved in?
Questions. So many questions.]
