Where: A Far Shore park pathway.
What: Obi is no longer a shinki, so where does that leave them?

[ Obi was bewildered to find himself not in the tree he knew he had fallen asleep in. Looking around, he can tell that he still has no idea where he is. He does, however, have his phone still. There are BBS posts he doesn't recognize, he has missed calls, a bunch of unread messages, and the date is wrong.

Well, he supposes, weird things happen.

There are a lot of things he needs to do, like check in on both of his workplaces, check in on who's still around, and maybe determine what this unfamiliar house he woke up in is.

After he's dropped by Die Jagd and Ebisus - during which he learns that username has been updated and apparently he's a god---huh---he intends to just randomly look for people and... Well, it's easy to spot Celestia in the evening light (or whenever, but it's evening right now) so he supposes.. He'll deal with that now, since there are some sort of business-like stuff to deal with, on top of personal stuff. ]

Mistresssss-- Miss Celestia?

[ Look up and there Obi is on a tree branch, peering down at her. ]

[Walking and thinking, so deeply that she pays little attention to her surroundings, Celestia never notices him till he speaks -- and when he does, she starts dramatically, hooves clattering on the path as her wings spread out reflexively. Her head jerks up... and then she sees who it is, and her body slumps with relief as a radiant smile grows on her face.]

Obi! You're all right! I'm so glad.

[ Oh, he didn't mean to throw her off guard. He supposes that happens, he should probably add some sound to his footsteps but it's easier not to-- but that's not important now, anyway, it's too late for that.

Obi blinks in surprise at the expression that she makes. It's not a reaction that he expected, a smile like that and all. ]

Uh... Yeah, I suppose so. I guess I made you worry, Mis-sss.

[ The "Mistress" comes so easy after the time he's been her shinki that it comes off as awkward. ]

Uhm, sorry about that?

[She might not have noticed even if he'd been loud. She has a great deal on her mind -- perhaps to his surprise, if he knew, he's one of them. Or had been until just now. Losing him as a shinki held no sting so long as he's okay.]

It's quite all right. I imagine things must have been very complicated for you.

[Since he must be a god now.]

I'm just glad you're well.

[ Not that he doesn't know that she does think about him sometimes, they were put in this weird relationship that made things really strange..., a lot due to Obis attitude, he knows. Obi picks at one of his archers gloves, a little of his awkwardness bleeding through in his expression. ]

Well.. Yeah, a bit. Aah, m... Thanks... I've been a bit of a bother to you with my attitude while I was your shinki, I.. could have handled that better. Uh. Sorry about that.

[Oh, well. She hadn't expected that, though perhaps she should have.]

That's right, you have your memories back now, don't you.

[She's curious what pushed him to treat her the way he did, if he could express it -- but asking felt so rude.]

[ Obis shoulders lowers a little, in a more relaxed kind of way. ]

I do. It's a relief to not be a shinki any more while having them. I already have a master and a mistress, after all.

[ Among other things.. But he could have treated it like a job, if he still had been a shinki while remembering everything. Though, he wasn't an assassin or mercenary any more, so going back to it now.. Felt strange.

He loves his master and his mistress. More than he should. And thinking about them makes him warm inside. ]

Oh. [Celestia's mind is quick and keen, forming the connections almost the very moment he says that. She looks at him with that familiar expression: curious, but not demanding.] Is that why you were so uncomfortable with me, because your soul knew I was not your rightful 'mistress', even if your mind did not?

[ Good question, reasonable, and all. He doesn't have a full understanding of what the answer is, though. ]

I'm not really sure. This whole being a shinki is... well, weird? And kind of, uuhh, ambiguous? But maybe? Partly? There's also... Well, the royalty thing is generally difficult.. It's like it's kind of, common sense? Among certain types of people, that royals are untrustworthy and selfish... and stuff... It's like that kind of feeling stayed though I didn't remember anything of how things are in my world. I kind of took out that on you...

[ He sounds apologetic, scratching his neck awkwardly. It wasn't right of him to do that to her, to treat her like that. ]

Ah. I see. [She sighs gently, once again reminded of the difference between humans and ponies. So easy to forget when living among the former, and yet...] I should have explained what exactly being a Princess means, for a pony. It might have eased your concerns somewhat, knowing that it is a title that must be earned, rather than one inherited as it is with humans. I am sorry.

You did a little bit, kind of... [ Or she had tried.. Obi is a little hardheaded sometimes. ] It's a little hard to grasp the large difference when something's so ingrained in you, I think. It's a complicated thing, isn't it, Miss? On top of that there's the suddenness we get thrown into roles here, too.

The suddenness, the confusion, the unknown history, on occasion the species difference... [She sighs softly, then smiles as best she can.] I am glad things have changed for you, though. You already seem much happier.

A fair bit of unease comes with the whole thing. [ Most people would probably not take the whole situation in stride, and now Obi knows where his trust issues comes from. ] Yeah, I've found my bearings in myself, I guess you could say. I dunno what to think about my sudden change in position here but, it's good to know where all my feelings comes from and, er, who I am.

I'd like to hear more, sometime. If you'd be willing to tell me.

[She can understand full well why he wouldn't. He may not be her shinki any more, but Celestia still puts his well-being first.]

I... suppose, maybe at some point.

[ Before he makes any decision on that though, he needs to sort himself and his feelings out. There is so much in his head right now. ]

If.. If you need my help with anything, ask me, alright? In the first place I wasn't great at that while I was your shinki so I feel like I should make up for that.. Plus it's better to figure out things between us if we work together a bit... I thought. I mean.. [ Obi rubs at his shoulder awkwardly. ] That's something I should have said way earlier but, uhm, you know, well....

It's quite all right. I don't know if I ever could understand what it's like, being a shinki, but I always understood that there was a lot more going on there than you or I could really know. [Her smile is warm, without a hint of rancor or ill-will. She really is glad that he's doing better, now.]
