Who: Naminé and Riku
When: April 14
Where: The Near Shore
What: Prayer #10
Warnings: None for now, will update if necessary.
[ It's their first prayer, and Naminé is a little nervous. More than a little, but she's doing her best to not seem that way for Riku. What sort of goddess acts nervous when she's about to help someone in need?
I know that my daughter has been gone for more than a year, but I still can't bring myself to let her go. Please give me the strength and hope to keep waiting for her.
So she has a sketchbook in hand, and a bag at her side--there are some papers there, with plenty of writing utensils. ]
How should we start--?
[ She's definitely not sure. ]

To be honest, Riku was pretty pleased when she decided they should try and solve some prayers. But a part of him feels a little out of place with this one. Taking down ayakashi? That doesn't sound like a problem. But family members? Whole different ballgame. It's not like he remembers his parents or family, and part of that bums him out. He's sure that if he could remember, he might be of more help.
He cups his chin in a hand, thinking and trying not to let his own nervousness show.] Well... why don't we learn more about them first?
[This sounds like an awfully personal request anyways. It may give them more ideas.]

[ She's still not sure how comfortable she is with just... waltzing into someone's house. But this benefits both of them, right? Maybe. Naminé knows she wants to help Riku remember (not for her, no; for Sora, of course) so, maybe... doing prayers will help them get to that point.
Naminé pulls the sketchbook tight against her chest. She's nervous, too, and she's less capable at hiding it than he is.
The only thing to do is... go in, she supposes. But that door is looming in front of her, and she can't quite get herself to open it. What a goddess she's turning out to be... ]

...But the other part of her hesitance, the fact that she's not yet opening the door, concerns him a bit as he looks her over. She's a goddess. This is what they do. And aside from that, if they get caught, they'll just be forgotten. It's an okay situation for them. So... why is she worrying?]
Maybe it is a bit. But we just need to find as much information about them as possible and not do anything with it afterwards.
[It's simple in his mind. Riku moves towards the door and grasps the knob, turning it slowly to open and trying to muffle any noises with both hands. Once it's open enough, he motions to her to follow him inside.]

But it's to help someone, right? So it's not that bad... She follows her shinki in, casting a glance around. ]
It's so quiet, [ she says, in a hushed voice. ]

Guess no one's home. [As forgettable as it is, they'll still have to be careful. He takes a few more quiet steps into the house, glancing around to find something that tells them a bit more about the family. Letters, pictures, anything really.] Where should we start?
no subject
[ Let's see. Naminé takes a look around, treading lightly on the carpet. Oh. ]
Oh--it looks like a memorial, of sorts...
[ That's exactly what it is. There's a picture of the kid, bright-eyed and rosy-cheeked. It's a girl, one with curly black hair and deep brown eyes. Around her picture, there are red and yellow chrysanthemums, and there are smaller pictures--one with the little girl and a big fluffy cat, one with her ready to jump into a swimming pool, one where she has crumbs all over her face from a chocolate cookie... ]

She must miss her a lot... [It's just a quiet statement, not really directed at Naminé. Riku's fingers graze the surface of some of the petals of the flowers before he turns back to her.]
Flowers are supposed to be powerful reminders right. She already has some here, but if these remind her of her daughter...
[There are other things here too to use, but flowers might be easier to obtain rather than a fluffball of a cat.]

[ ... It's sad, when Naminé thinks about it. She brushes a bit of hair from her eyes and looks around a moment. ]
Maybe... I could draw a picture of the girl in a field of flowers?

[But whatever the reason is, Riku couldn't fathom. He wouldn't know what it was like to have parents or a family like that. Maybe Naminé knew, but not him.
Turning back to her with a nod.] Sounds like a good idea to me. It's a start.

[ The reply comes quietly, and Naminé gets to drawing. She doesn't say anything; she's so focused on the task at hand, and all. Some time later, she's produced a simple drawing, like she's said; the girl in a field of those flowers. She looks a little... unsure. ]
Do you think this is okay?
no subject
But when she talks, he finds her way back to her and examines the drawing.]
It looks fine to me. [But he doesn't have the kind of eye for art that she does. What he can tell is that Naminé herself is not confident in it.]
Do you think its missing something? Like a message, or... something more?

Please don't give up.
