007 | Clean Up Your Act
Who: Everyone!
What: Spring cleaning
When: All day April 15
Where: All around the Heavens
Summary: The Heavens don't like things being cluttered, so it's time to clean up a little bit.

Main Hall
While the main hall of the Heavens seems spotlessly clean at all times, that's not the case at all. In fact, it's been at least a decade since the last time they actually cleaned everything out properly. There are a lot of hidden closets and back rooms that have layers of dust and dozens of boxes filled with nothing but junk. Who knows, though! You might find something interesting and useful in there along with all the garbage.
Suprises
Unfortunately, some of the older temples on the Far Shore seem to have some interesting surprises tucked away, ranging from cursed artifacts all the way to magical creatures locked up in long-forgotten rooms. You are free to be creative with this as a way to get your characters into trouble while cleaning.
Complimentary Dinner
After all of your hard work, you deserve to have some tasty food and refreshing beverages. So the Heavens have provided that for you, so that you can wind down after a long day. It's not as fancy as the banquets they often put on, but there is a nice array of food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.
Counselling
As usual, there is a white-robed shinki bearing the gold chrysanthemum of Amaterasu sitting at a table in the Main Hall. There is a small sign that denotes her as the counselling shinki. Anyone is welcome to approach her, and she will smile serenely at anyone passing by as well.

Slaine Troyard | Aldnoah.Zero | OTA
[Given the task of cleaning up a particularly old temple in a mountainous stretch of the far shore, Slaine doesn't think very much of it. As with any assignment he's issued, his first concern is that he represent his god well and complete the work to the best of his ability, and so he embarks with supplies in-hand.
His first impression upon entering the temple is that it looks quite abandoned. Cobwebs and dust festoon surfaces and corners, old decorative urns and paintings showing the faded yellow mark of old age. He squints in the poor lighting, wondering where it is he ought to start as he makes his way along.
But soon thereafter he comes to a halt, casting a speculative glance toward an old urn. Was that always there...? He tries to shrug it off, only to hear a faint shuffling...and there's the same urn on the floor beside him.
A long silence follows in which he engages in what can only be the most one-sided staring-contest with an inanimate object, at least until the urn's lid begins to shudder and at last move in a strange pantomime of a laugh, the sound resonating from all directions and not quite from the object itself.
Forgive him an undignified yelp, he's never had an urn for an admirer before]
II. Good Spirits
[Slaine has made a stubborn endeavor to clean the temple, forcibly correcting any pottery that chooses to crowd at his elbows. It's at least fortunate that he's managed to avoid knocking anything over at this juncture, but his progress is incredibly slow, concerted though his efforts remain.
Eventually he cleans up the main room of the shrine, and once again he's visited by a companion. This time, however, there's no crockery. It's a cat, and this shouldn't be concerning at all, except that the cat has two tails. The little creature parks itself right beside Slaine much as urns and pots and teacups have insisted upon doing for much of the afternoon.
And so now, he's engaged in a far less one-sided staring contest with something he's sure ought not be there, just the same as the pottery]
III. Crowd Control
[It seems that the more rooms Slaine cleans, the more attention he garners. Slowly and steadily, he's gathered a following. A small pack of two-tailed cats now follow his progress from one room to another, crowding around his ankles and watching him with what seems a vested interest. They never make a sound, but they've effectively replaced the pottery...
Only the more that crowd around him the more pensive concern Slaine feels, plain on his face as he steals occasional glances at this gathering of cats... Well, he's assuming they're still cats, even with two tails like that. It's quite hard to sweep a room with a whole pack of them orbiting him, however, and eventually it becomes a matter he simply has to address]
Excuse me...I'm trying to clean.
[Leveling with them is absolutely going to work, isn't it?]
IV. Fan Following
[When at last the temple is clean, Slaine finds that he still has a gaggle of cats following him when he packs up to leave. This...isn't a development he'd anticipated, but there they are, and he's stationed in the doorway with a pack of what he assumes to be cats with two tails just staring him down]
I have more work to do...
[He tries to advance, and the cats simply remain where they are, which leaves him in the awkward position of either trying to step on them or somehow shoo them away...]
Really, I need to go now.
[This process of trying to gently nudge his way through might be frustrating to watch, particularly since any progress he makes is closely followed by this orbiting feline crowd]
fan following
She gasps, lowering her phone to the side in favor of following these strange cats, eventually leading her to a doorway. And Slaine.
Her footsteps stop, mouth agape at the sight of these cats before she darts a glance over to him with a frown.]
You're really popular with cats, aren't you?
no subject
I suppose they must be lonely...
[His attempt doesn't achieve much when the cat gets on its hind legs and opts to stand on his shoe instead in the most bizarre display, and he can do little better than stare]
Do cats...normally do this?
[Actually, a few of the ones behind him even have little yukatas...]
no subject
She'll have to eventually unlock the elephant in the room, but for now she focuses her attention on those cats, gasping at some of them wearing yukatas.]
That's not normal!
[That cat on its hind legs standing on Slaine's shoe quickly captures her line of vision. Time for pictures? Yes. She lifts the phone towards the critter, pressing a few buttons.]
Hold still, Slaine! I must keep this image.
no subject
Seriously?
[Really, Sheryl, who wants a picture of this?]
no subject
After making sure his face is on her phone, she nods, seemingly satisfied with the result.]
Seriously.

[Tsuzuki's smile is a bit shaky, but -- he's Hisoka's old shinki. Tsuzuki should take care of him. Right? Right. Definitely.
The smile drops from shaky to confused and then downright nonexistent, though, as he gets a look at the ground around Slaine's feet, because... what?
Really?]
Uh... did you find some new pets?
no subject
That's a lack of consideration he'll have to correct. Tsuzuki was always kind to him, the least he can do is show the same in return. Though for the moment, his attempt to step anywhere only leads to orbiting cats adjusting themselves around him so he can't get very far]
I...not exactly... [He doesn't think they're pets. Who dresses their two-tailed cats in yukatas? Who even has this many cats?] They kept showing up while I was cleaning.
no subject
[Tsuzuki kneels down, holding out a hand to the nearest of them, and smiles. They've all got two tails, sure enough. Maybe this is where they end up after they die of old age.
Well, it's not like he hasn't spent a while scaring people and hanging out with the dead! Why hold it against a cat?]
Here, kitty kitty. You guys want some fish?
no subject
[It's not a name that Slaine finds himself remotely familiar with, but Tsuzuki doesn't seem concerned by them. That must mean that there's nothing to be worried about then, right? He watches as a few of the cats approach the older man, tails flicking curiously behind them]
...Free fish?
Is it fresh?
[...And now, Slaine can only stare. They just spoke, didn't they?]
no subject
[Tsuzuki grins at the cats, charmed. So most of the stories of nekomata are scary ones, but that's just because a lot of the cats that end up nekomata got mistreated when they were young, right?
If you're nice to them he's pretty sure it shouldn't be a problem, and hey, people get pretty scared of shinigami, too. He glances over at Slaine.]
Yeah, nekomata! They're the spirits of old, powerful cats. You can tell by the two tails.

I. Old Haunts
So instead of going on cleaning spree, he went into more abandoned and mountainous part of the far shore. With his belongings in the backpack, and kitten sleeping in a deep pocket of his sleeveless jacket.
Then suddenly he heard a yelp coming from seemingly abandoned temple, which startled him enough to let out one himself.
He carefully takes a look inside. ]
Is someone there?
no subject
And he almost looks like he's going on some kind of trip, carrying a backpack around like that]
Genos? What-
[What's the backpack for, he wants to ask... But then the urn makes a sudden appearance, right between them, cackling as its lid clatters about. This time, Slaine starts, but he doesn't make a sound. He merely jolts and puffs out a vexed sigh shortly thereafter]
...Not again...

Slaine casts another sidelong glance at the urn, waiting for it to do anything pointedly suspect aside jeer and laugh at them, but for the moment it's silent. And then, just like that, it vanishes as though it was never there with another shrill, raucous laugh]
Something in this place has a poor sense of humor, it seems.
no subject
Was that an ayakashi? [ Then he notices the blackened stain on the floor and remembers their mission for today. Woops. ] You are cleaning here?

Shoo, shoo! Go back to the boy, not me!
[He looks away from the cats, towards Slaine.]
Your cats won't leave me alone, call them back.
no subject
They're...not really my cats. I think they just live here.
[He's (kind of) sorry Zoro, but he holds no sway over these felines...]
no subject
Like purring for example.]
What the hell!?
[So many purring kitties all over Zoro, making it impossible to walk any farther. There goes his plan to escape.]
Where are they coming from? What did you do?
no subject
All I did was clean that temple, as I was assigned to. They just kept showing up, the more I cleaned...
[Sorry, Zoro. Even more cats are migrating away from Slaine and over to this tall handsome pirate fellow]
no subject
Who's temple is that? Any idea?
[Oh no, not more cats. Zoro picks one up and that's the biggest mistake he's done, because he can hear a voice now, telling him 'put me back on the floor, you brute!'. Zoro panics and drops the cat, who lands gracefully and goes back to mingling with the rest.
He looks up at Slaine, blinking, surprised.]

Rise's been doing a little bit of dusting in the main hall, having a break from cleaning the kitchen, when she spotted the older blond boy. And some of the audience around him. Especially those suspicious cats. They could be ayakashi after all.]
Oh wow, Slaine-kun. You really are popular these days~
no subject
I...have the growing suspicion they must be bored.
[Surely there's no particular charm about him. Especially not when all he's doing is cleaning this temple and occasionally relocating pottery that seems to spawn out of nowhere at all]
no subject
Maybe they are. But maybe they also find you fascinating, Slaine-kun!
[She means in a good way. Not the "they're plotting to mess with you" kind of way.]
How's the cleaning going for you?
no subject
It's been going reasonably well... Although pots keep appearing where there was nothing before.
[Another tug on the broom, but the cats are latched onto it. He puffs out a sigh]
That's slowed me down.
