007 | Clean Up Your Act
Who: Everyone!
What: Spring cleaning
When: All day April 15
Where: All around the Heavens
Summary: The Heavens don't like things being cluttered, so it's time to clean up a little bit.

Main Hall
While the main hall of the Heavens seems spotlessly clean at all times, that's not the case at all. In fact, it's been at least a decade since the last time they actually cleaned everything out properly. There are a lot of hidden closets and back rooms that have layers of dust and dozens of boxes filled with nothing but junk. Who knows, though! You might find something interesting and useful in there along with all the garbage.
Suprises
Unfortunately, some of the older temples on the Far Shore seem to have some interesting surprises tucked away, ranging from cursed artifacts all the way to magical creatures locked up in long-forgotten rooms. You are free to be creative with this as a way to get your characters into trouble while cleaning.
Complimentary Dinner
After all of your hard work, you deserve to have some tasty food and refreshing beverages. So the Heavens have provided that for you, so that you can wind down after a long day. It's not as fancy as the banquets they often put on, but there is a nice array of food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.
Counselling
As usual, there is a white-robed shinki bearing the gold chrysanthemum of Amaterasu sitting at a table in the Main Hall. There is a small sign that denotes her as the counselling shinki. Anyone is welcome to approach her, and she will smile serenely at anyone passing by as well.

Complimentary dinner!
Ayumu's cheerful voice piped up near his ear as she leaned over to peek at his plate. They weren't as tasty as her own in her own opinion but she liked the blend of spices they used. And of course, they were tender and juicy.
"They're pretty filling, too!"
no subject
"Ah, thank you," he replied. "I'll try those first."
no subject
Ayumu chuckled when he jumped. Good to know that she hadn't lost her touch. She'd hate to lose all those years of stealth training just because the Far Shore residents were easy to overlook.
"Mind if I join you? It's been a long day and you look new around here."
no subject
So maybe it was the sheer amount of food set before him. "Yes. I'm so new that this is my first meal here."
no subject
"That explains why there's so much of it. I suppose that's one way of finding out what you like."
It wasn't that he was easy to read, not necessarily, but more that Ayumu's used to reading faces far more stoic than his.
"What's your name?"
no subject
"Saïx. And yours is?" He looked over at her as he asked.
no subject
Ayumu flashed him a warm, friendly smile. She wasn't exactly a social or outgoing person but she was trying to make more of an effort to meet new people.
"They're working everyone pretty hard today. Not even the newcomers are spared."
no subject
Saïx finally started to dig into his food, starting with the chicken skewer as suggested. He took a tentative bite of one of the pieces and slowly and thoughtfully chewed it, actually taking the time to taste it despite his hunger.
no subject
She chuckled again. At the time, Ayumu had been confused and upset but now it was much easier to laugh about it.
"My first day I had to deliver candy to strangers for a holiday I'd never heard of before."
Ayumu paused a moment, brow furrowing a little with concern.
"You haven't run into anything dangerous, have you? Sometimes there's surprises."
no subject
"I haven't faced any threats yet, if that's what you mean." Dangerous, on the other hand? It was safe to assume just about anyone here was or could be dangerous. Whether or not they posed any danger to him, on the other hand, was a different matter. But he could not in good conscience say he hadn't run into anything dangerous. Yet.
no subject
She put her elbows on the table and just watched him eat, resting her chin in her hands.
"I had a couple of problems with some snakes today but that's about it. It's been much quieter than it was on my first day."
Of course, her first day involved swarms of ayakashi, cursed chocolates, and a great deal of fear and confusion. Partly because of her situation and the fact she could suddenly control fire.
"Still, be careful when you open doors around here, 'kay? You never know what might be behind them. It could be something better left alone."
That poor furniture and those beautiful tapestries. And the snakes, too, she supposed. Ayumu hadn't intended to make that much of a mess but when something tried to a eat a young lady such as herself, what else was she supposed to do?
no subject
With the chicken skewer finished he eyed his plates and picked up another skewer, this one had a piece of shrimp tempura covering much of the wood. Saïx bit into it. It was slightly sweet in taste, but mostly savory. He really liked this one, finishing it off twice as fast as he did the chicken.
After setting down the now empty skewer, he looked over at her. "You're not the first one to warn me about opening doors. Is it that common for bad things to lurk behind them?" If so, he was glad he'd only been entering rooms with open doors.
no subject
Ayumu continued to watch him eat, casually making mental notes. The act of eating a meal it wasn't particularly exciting to watch but it was always good to hone and practice her observation skills. He ate the shellfish faster than the chicken. What could she learn about him from that?
"They're tough but not invincible."
There's a slight pause.
"How's the tempura?"
no subject
With the now empty skewer, he picked up the piece of takoyaki. Saïx bit into it and thoughtfully chewed. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't something he'd go for again if there were other things available that he liked. He still finished it.
"Did you fight them off with a broom, or did you have a weapon handy?"
no subject
"I used a broom. It didn't work too well so I tried to set them on fire instead. Accidents happened."
Ayumu shrugged a little, not appearing to be particularly concerned. She wasn't hurt and no temples burned down in the process.
"But I had some help and we took care of it together."
no subject
He picks up a rice ball with a slightly pink coloring to it from little flaky - almost silky in texture - pieces of fish mixed in with a little sprinkled on top. It's lightly sweet, a little salty, and just perfect. While he was eating it slowly, it was obvious he was savoring it. Saïx had only grabbed one and he wanted to enjoy it as long as possible.
no subject
But the snake had met its end and would no longer attack innocent cleaners. That was the most important outcome.
"That rice ball must be really tasty! What's in it?"
More seafood? Ayumu would guess more seafood.
no subject
"It is. Some sort of fish that's been seasoned with something sweet." As soon as he finished speaking, he went back to eating. Sadly, there were only a few bites left of it.
no subject
Ayumu looked over his array of food again before pointing to what looked like a pastry.
"How about you try that one next when you're finished?"
Might as well see if he liked sweets, too.
no subject
After finishing the rice ball, he picked up the pastry and took a bit. It was good, but... "It's a little too sweet. Maybe if it had some saltiness to balance it out, I'd like it better." That was what he'd liked about the seafood he'd had. It was all a little sweet and salty at the same time.
no subject
It was just as well. It meant more for Okita, Yamato, and Sheryl along with the other people she knew who did have one. Maybe she was moving too fast by including Saix on her list of people to cook for during their first meeting but it is her hobby and he seemed like enjoyable company so far.
Of course, it helped that with appearance of friends from home, Ayumu's mood had improved considerably in just a few hours.
"I've been thinking about throwing a dinner party at my temple sometime soon. Would you be interested in coming? It might be a good opportunity to meet some of the others around here."
It'd been hard for her to settle in here until she'd started making friends and acquaintances. If she could make it easier for others in a similar position, Ayumu would be glad to do it. And of course, she wanted to introduce old friends to new ones. Why not help Saix out as well?
