Summary: The Heavens don't like things being cluttered, so it's time to clean up a little bit.







Main Hall

While the main hall of the Heavens seems spotlessly clean at all times, that's not the case at all. In fact, it's been at least a decade since the last time they actually cleaned everything out properly. There are a lot of hidden closets and back rooms that have layers of dust and dozens of boxes filled with nothing but junk. Who knows, though! You might find something interesting and useful in there along with all the garbage.

Suprises

Unfortunately, some of the older temples on the Far Shore seem to have some interesting surprises tucked away, ranging from cursed artifacts all the way to magical creatures locked up in long-forgotten rooms. You are free to be creative with this as a way to get your characters into trouble while cleaning.

Complimentary Dinner

After all of your hard work, you deserve to have some tasty food and refreshing beverages. So the Heavens have provided that for you, so that you can wind down after a long day. It's not as fancy as the banquets they often put on, but there is a nice array of food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.

Counselling

As usual, there is a white-robed shinki bearing the gold chrysanthemum of Amaterasu sitting at a table in the Main Hall. There is a small sign that denotes her as the counselling shinki. Anyone is welcome to approach her, and she will smile serenely at anyone passing by as well.

Nice to meet you, Sanae. [ He's not gonna hit on her like how he hits on his fans, but - even memloss can't make him forget his charm, can it? ] I'm a shinki! I'm under Izanagi. He's a good guy.

[ Because clearly that's relevant. ]

Being a goddess of miracles sounds really cool. Did you just come, or?

[ So he doesn't ask her 10001 questions when she's still new on duty? ]

[ Wow wow... a shinki to Izanagi. The father-god. That's pretty impressive! She has to pause in her walk to look at him for a moment, because while he is a bishonen, he doesn't seem all that strong. He's rather slender, after all!

But, well, appearances can be deceiving, and she moves on, as do her footsteps. But, of course, that he's a shinki to such a high-level god does fluster her a bit more. It must be an honor to even talk to him! ] I did, mm. [ She nods. ] But really-- I'm just starting out, and figuring out how to best apply miracles here. Everyone I've met so far is amazing and strong. [ A small smile. ] Maybe there isn't a need for a goddess like me, with such extraordinary people.

[ What will she think once she finds out both Souji and Reiji are just nerds...

He might be slender, but it's mostly owning to the fact that he's dressed with long sleeves and pants. If it was summer and he was dressed for that occasion, she would be able to see that he head an athlete's physique - slim but lean, like a panther. ]

Well, that's not true. Everyone has a part to play in this community, no matter what their specialization is. I haven't been here very long either - we're all learning, right? So don't worry. I'm sure you'll be great.

[ He gives her a more reassuring smile now, careful to tune his expression to be appropriate. ]

But awwww look at that smile of his. It's just right-- right enough to make her relax a tad more around him, and stop being so nervous for no good reason. Plus, his words are just as kind, and she appreciates them. ] Thank you. If I can ask... how has it been like, here? I hope nothing has been too difficult, if you came from somewhere without any youkai or ayakashi before. [ And she means this is the best possible way. She knows that shinki are deceased, but she doesn't quite agree with the heavens that they could be robbed of a peaceful afterlife or reincarnation to be brought here to fight, maybe even be hurt. ] Those creatures can be fearsome at times.

but girls like it anyway

[ He keeps pace easily with her, looking thoughtful. ]

I'm a shinki, so I don't remember where I come from. I think it's been okay - we fought a big ayakashi last month, but it wasn't too hard since everyone helped out. Mostly we've been called to deal with not-so-major problems. This system hasn't been here long, though, so I don't have much information to begin with. Sorry about that.

[ Reiji taps a finger against his chin. ]

I'm still looking into things here and there when I can. As long as all of us work together, no threat should be too hard to handle.

[ He gets extra points in her book for noting that everyone should work together. Sanae is all about that, to the point that it ca become obnoxious just how much she may rant about it. Well, about friendship and support. Actually working together-- say, on a same mission or quest or prayer or whatever it's called here--- is an entirely different story, because Sanae has always been one to fight alone. But that's perhaps just a lesson she will have to learn with her own shinki when the time comes. ]

Right. [ She nods, and she relaxes further. The guy understands! And so she stops walking for a moment to turn to him, leaning forward earnestly, her eyes bright and determined. ] ---So!

Reiji, if you ever are in need of help... please don't hesitate to ask. [ Her voice softens somewhat. ] Although I'm not your god, I'll still be there for you if you are ever in need. [ He's still a human, even if he is a dead one. So it's still her duty to protect him! The rule would still apply if he was even a god. ]

[ It's a problem both of them share. Reiji loves working with people, but he's always been better in at least one way or another - both from his natural gifts, and also from his willingness to throw everything else away to achieve his goals. This superiority, however unintentional, has always alienated him somewhat. A capable leader, but even then there is a distance that very few can truly bridge. He, who takes it upon himself to help everyone else, must first be strong enough to do things alone.

He's forgotten about that now, but some things are very hard to unlearn. Even if he's one of the weakest now, it's in his nature to strive for the top. ]

Thanks. I appreciate it.

[ He smiles - and for a few moments, the charm in that smile abates, to be replaced by a subtle, honest gentleness. And then it's gone as his perfect idol persona covers it again. ]

Can I be your friend?

[ ....Oh. OH. He wants to be her friend? Well of course she will be! ] ....Me? Really?

[ She almost has a hard time believing what she's hearing, because usually it's her that has to ask to be friends with others! ] --I mean, oh, certainly! [ Her surprise turns to joy in an instant, and in her excitement she'll reach out to take his hand in hers boldly. ]

And you'll never have to ask me about that friendship again. Once a friend, always a friend.

[heiring]

[ Reiji's hand is warm, with skin smooth and unmarked. He smiles. ]

Always.

[ He has to build up his connections and friendships from scratch, after all. It's nice that she's so willing. ]

You should tell me about yourself, Sanae-chan. What do you like?

[ The topic of finding a better broom hasn't been forgotten!! It's just... second priority right now. He'll look while they walk. ]

[ What does she like. Good question. She knows what she likes, but she's become rather self-conscious right now that she wonders if telling him would make her seem un-cool to him!

(That is to say, besides helping people, she likes manga and science fiction and giant robots.) ] Um... helping others! Back at home, I was a miko. So... tending to my duty of the shrine and of exorcising ayakashi is something I did daily. I didn't mind it at all.

[ He won't judge, if it helps. ]

That sounds amazing. Helping people is always a good thing, I'm glad you like it? It makes you happy when someone else is happy, isn't it?

[ That's not really what he was asking for, though... ]

Favourite colour, favourite food? That sort of thing. What do you do for fun?
