Summary: The Heavens don't like things being cluttered, so it's time to clean up a little bit.







Main Hall

While the main hall of the Heavens seems spotlessly clean at all times, that's not the case at all. In fact, it's been at least a decade since the last time they actually cleaned everything out properly. There are a lot of hidden closets and back rooms that have layers of dust and dozens of boxes filled with nothing but junk. Who knows, though! You might find something interesting and useful in there along with all the garbage.

Suprises

Unfortunately, some of the older temples on the Far Shore seem to have some interesting surprises tucked away, ranging from cursed artifacts all the way to magical creatures locked up in long-forgotten rooms. You are free to be creative with this as a way to get your characters into trouble while cleaning.

Complimentary Dinner

After all of your hard work, you deserve to have some tasty food and refreshing beverages. So the Heavens have provided that for you, so that you can wind down after a long day. It's not as fancy as the banquets they often put on, but there is a nice array of food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.

Counselling

As usual, there is a white-robed shinki bearing the gold chrysanthemum of Amaterasu sitting at a table in the Main Hall. There is a small sign that denotes her as the counselling shinki. Anyone is welcome to approach her, and she will smile serenely at anyone passing by as well.

[ ....Ah. Now she understands. ] Oh--! [ She didn't mean to assume! It's just that strange body chimera parts are usually the result of curses. ] Is... is that so? [ She feels a bit bad that she thought otherwise. ] What sort of blessing is, um, ....that? [ <---"that" being his arm.

NGL it looks pretty cool when she takes the cursed-element out of it. ] The blessing of being good at baseball? Or tennis? [ She's being serious here as she continues to clean up all of crafts. Thank the gods that glitter didn't spill. ]

what are basketball and tennis? Hmm.]

Well, I am a white dragon... [A white dragon picking up cotton balls, as one does.] It... is the blessing of being?

[This is weirdly difficult to explain!!]

[ Hold the fucking phone. ] ---You're a dragon?

[ Well his arm is kinda scaly, but- ] .....Where's your tail? And fins?!

[bighand]

[Good question!! He makes a fist full of colorful feathers and whaps it against his own chest, very proud of himself.]

In here!

[miraculo]

[ Aaaaah, she gets it! (She thinks). It's the power within...! ] You, um, can transform into a full dragon...?

[ This is difficult. Thinking is difficult. ]

[whoa hold up that would be so cool]

Well, first of all...

[ Oh gosh more thinking!

But now that he asks the question, she puts her imagination to use. ]

You have to both feel and believe in the dragon within you: you are him, and he is you. He is your true form, and you only have to unlock it from the depths of your soul! Dragons are ancient beings, immortal and sacred, symbolizing change and calamity and rebirth, and somehow-- somewhere-- the wisdom of one is still within you! [ All conjecture, but whatever. He asked! ]

But then--- ah, yes, but then, the dragon can only be awakened in a moment of crisis! He is powerful, after all, and to use him for anything less than something seemingly impossible would be an insult to him! Thus to test it--

--You must confront your deepest, darkest fear. The worst case scenario. The end of the world as you know it. [ Oh, she's having fun now. This is fun, wondering how someone can awaken the dragon without gathering magical balls. ]

Only then may you transform into a dragon...!

[bighand]

[Honestly, all this maybe-fake dragon lore sounds completely and 100% real and legitimate to Kija, who is basing his Being A Dragon entirely on having one weird hand and a lot of conjecture, most of it concocted at 3 in the morning—

So this seems completely reasonable. He's with her until she says he has to confront his darkest fears, and then he genuinely, literally recoils. No...]

That... I couldn't— The horrors I would have to face! Why, there was one such horror this very morning! In the bathroom!!

A bug...! Needless to say, there were more pressing matters than transformation!

[miraculo]

[ She hangs onto his words, looking at him intensely when he's about to mention some unspeakable horror in the bathroom--





And she absolutely agrees that bugs can be dangerous! ] Yes...! In fact, when I was cleaning earlier... I encountered a kodoku! Bugs can be dangerous, and you never know when they might be deadly! They love these nooks and crannies within the depths of un-cleaned temples, too. [ Ergo: ] ---Which is why to awaken your dragon form, you must brave each and every dark space to find these bugs to face your worst fears!

[bighand]

Ah— [Bugs are deadly!! He really just doesn't like the creepy crawly lots of legs bit, but if they're also sometimes deadly, this is a perfectly good reason to keep putting off facing his deepest fear.

But for a moment he has a glimmer of hope that she'll excuse him from looking at bugs. Alas. His shoulders slump in defeat.]

Well, I had someone else face my worst fear this morning... He put it in a cup and threw it outside. It was very helpful.

[miraculo]

[ Boooooi ] ....That's cheating. [ She says flatly. ] You can't have someone else do something as important as this for you.

[bighand]

[CHEATING!!! HOW COULD HE]

But— I was unaware until just now that I would have to face my fear, so it should not count against me...!!

[miraculo]

O dragon.... [ She begins respectfully, closing her eyes and bringing a hand to her chest. ] You must stop thinking as you are a human. You must begin to actively answer the call of what you really are: a symbol of strength. A protector. A fighter against fears, any fear-- including bugs. What you do now in your human form reflects onto your soul.

[ She then looks at him. Intensely! ] I'll let that one slide, [ As if she has any say in this???

Have a dramatic point as well. ] But the next bug-- I expect you to face head-on! I know you can do it. I believe in you. Now... all that's left is for you to believe in the dragon you truly are....!

[bighand]

[Okay... he does like the sound of being a symbol of strength and protection!! That's pretty much his goal in life, so it sounds good.

He still flinches when she gives him that look and Disapproves, though. He'll do better, random girl who has nothing to do with this, he promises!!]

I... I will try! But— well. [ahem] There are a lot of bugs, so how will I know when I have faced my fear enough times?

[miraculo]

You will know... [ And she reaches out that pointed finger to poke right at his chest, right where his heart would be. ] right here.

[ She smiles once again, and withdraws her hand. ] And if that doesn't do the trick, then maybe bugs aren't your deepest fear. [ Could be something more. Like losing someone he cares about, etc etc. ] You'll just have to wait and see!

[ Hopefully he doesn't mind surprises. ] But if you so happen to face it here, ...I promise I'll be there to help as much as I can. Alright?

[bighand]

[Ah. That's worrying, even as he lifts a hand to cover his own heart and look down at it thoughtfully. It would be nice, if bugs were as bad as things could reasonably get... Hasn't he already caused enough problems by being a shinki in the first place?

Hmm.]

You would offer that so easily? To a stranger? [like- so would he, but most people have considered him weird, so far. so.] ... Kija. Please call me Kija.

[miraculo]

Sanae Kochiya. [ She nods.

Then, quietly, she adds ] And... as the god of miracles,of course I would help a stranger. It doesn't matter who-- or what, or when. If someone calls me, I'll be there. [ She speaks as if she's been doing this a while, and her tone is as sure as it is gentle. ] Whether God or shinki, I'll be there.

[bighand]

[Oh-!] Miracles? How many miracles have you performed?

[He's honestly just curious... Can he see a resume, just to be Super Impressed??]

[miraculo]

Ehhh? A number? [ Not. Used to being ask this question.

But now that she thinks about it. ] Um.... [ She places a finger to her chin, thoughtfully. ] A whole lot! [ She alughs sheepishly. ] I never really counted.

[bighand]

Oh. [Hmm. Hmmmmm. Okay!] Then your deeds are too bountiful to be counted, is that it? You must be a very talented goddess.

[miraculo]

Oh-- [ Time for her to blush and be flattered! ] No, I'm just a beginner, really. [ But look at her, she doesn't mind such praise, since she's so unused to it. ] And, actually, people don't usually pray for big miracles. It's the little things. [ Like-- ] Like passing a test. Or having food to eat and water to drink.

Still, those are things I just can't say no to helping out with! [ Having food and water is not just a little thing, really. ]

[Should he ask... should he.......]

Is killing bugs a miracle?

....I don't see why not. [ Sure. ] But you shouldn't rely on me to face your fears that much. [ Ie doing the dirty work for him. ]
