Summary: The Heavens don't like things being cluttered, so it's time to clean up a little bit.







Main Hall

While the main hall of the Heavens seems spotlessly clean at all times, that's not the case at all. In fact, it's been at least a decade since the last time they actually cleaned everything out properly. There are a lot of hidden closets and back rooms that have layers of dust and dozens of boxes filled with nothing but junk. Who knows, though! You might find something interesting and useful in there along with all the garbage.

Suprises

Unfortunately, some of the older temples on the Far Shore seem to have some interesting surprises tucked away, ranging from cursed artifacts all the way to magical creatures locked up in long-forgotten rooms. You are free to be creative with this as a way to get your characters into trouble while cleaning.

Complimentary Dinner

After all of your hard work, you deserve to have some tasty food and refreshing beverages. So the Heavens have provided that for you, so that you can wind down after a long day. It's not as fancy as the banquets they often put on, but there is a nice array of food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.

Counselling

As usual, there is a white-robed shinki bearing the gold chrysanthemum of Amaterasu sitting at a table in the Main Hall. There is a small sign that denotes her as the counselling shinki. Anyone is welcome to approach her, and she will smile serenely at anyone passing by as well.

[Sanzang pauses mid-stride, a bit bewildered by the scene in front of her. Was he a god of housekeeping?? That'd make sense, right? Or maybe he just...really likes cleaning. Look, she doesn't know, but either way this is kind of amazing.

The declaration is one thing, but the poses make it for her. She bursts into bright laughter, clapping her sleeves together in delight.]

Our hero is here! We'll be sure to rely on you, okay? So do your best, I'll be cheering you on!

[ It's the laughter that first catches his attention, but when he turns to face her he almost feels blinded by her cheeriness. ]

That's right! [ Kenren grins, unable to help himself. ] Finally someone who appreciates my efforts!

[sanzohoshi]

If you get too tired, I'll dance for you, okay?

[There is context to this somewhere that makes this not a strange thing to say, but she's so used to everyone in the army knowing about her that she doesn't even think to clarify or explain further.]

We should all do our part to help out, after all!

Dance for me? [ I'm sorry if you didn't expect him to assume the worst possible thing but he totally just assumed the worst possible thing. ]

What... kind of dance are we talkin' about here?

[She tilts her head, as if confused by the question]

Hm? Oh, I don't know... I never really had a name for them before. They're sacred dances for healing and things like that. I learned them when I was traveling around!

[Sanzang grins apologetically and shrugs] Oh, but, I should know your name, right? That way if you come calling, I'll know who I'm looking for!

[ "Healing dances", is that what they calm them now? And if she learned them while traveling around... well, hopefully this is just him getting carried ahead and not a case of "cute girl learns lewd thing and believes it's totally not lewd".

He's distracted enough with his own thoughts that the question catches him a little by surprise. ]

Uh, Kenren. Unless you want my god name, but I don't really use it much.

Hmm, it seems like not a lot of people do... But I guess that's not unexpected either.

[Sanzang laughs a little and bows, careful to keep her sleeves from brushing the ground too much.]

I'm Genjo Sanzo, pleased to meet you! But here I'm supposed to be the new Lady Kanzeon, goddess of mercy and compassion.

[She straightens and smiles brightly.

WHAT PART DO YOU EVEN FOCUS ON HERE FIRST, KENREN. GODSPEED.]

[ Genjo Sanzo. That's familiar, isn't it? Just like the guy who they theorize is Konzen's reincarnation.

Wait.

Kanzeon?

Goddess of mercy and compassion???

Kenren just stares at her, unsure of how to proceed. ]

Uh.

[Sanzang's stares back for a long moment, not sure how to proceed]

...Ha? What's 'what'? Something wrong?

You're... the Merciful Goddess...?

[sanzohoshi]

[She frowns, suddenly looking a little self-conscious]

Well... That's what they said... If you'v met her like I have, I guess it might be a little hard to believe, huh? I'm really nothing like her, I don't have any right to accept such a grand title, but it's what this place decided.

[Which leaves the unfortunate implication that the Kanzeon they all know and love is dead and gone in this world. Nice.]

Um! But don't worry! [Sanzang waves her hands earnestly] I'll do my best! I promise not to be a disappointment!

[ THANK GOD YOU'RE NOTHING LIKE HER. ]

No, no, it's okay. That's—none of us really get a say in this. It was just... surprising.

[ Kenren could get used to this, but... Konzen? Well, that was going to be an interesting thing to witness. ]

[sanzohoshi]

Oh, phew... I was worried, I thought you were already disappointed or something...

[She wipes at her head with a sheepish, albeit relieved smile.]

Something about you is...a little familiar... [But it's fainter then, say, the feeling she gets looking at people like Hakkai or Gojyo. Weird?? She doesn't know, but she also stopped questioning weird feelings she got a long time ago.]

So, Master Kenren... Let's get along and be friends, okay? That's fine, right?

Familiar...?

[ He thinks for a moment. ]

Uh, have you met Gojyo? People say we kinda look alike, so... maybe that's it?

[ Note to self: Ask Gojyo how they're supposed to deal with this or what they're meant to tell people when they point out the resemblance. ]

That's fine! [ Clears his throat. ] I... look forward to working together! [ As gods. Colleagues? Something. ]

Hmm. [She tilts her head, considering] No, it's not like that... Besides, you don't look like the Master Gojyo I know! [Though at this point she's aware there is a Gojyo here, she hasn't met him yet by the time this thread's happened. Probably. Makes vague hand movements.]

It's more like... Something in my heart is responding to you, like my soul knows you, in some way. [In addition to being Sanzo she's also sort of probably Konzen, in a way?? It's ambiguous. Thanks games.]

Whatever it is, I don't mind it. It lets me know I can trust you! I know there's a lot of people from different worlds here, and that my old traveling companions are both here and not here-- that is, it's their names, and some similarities, but it's them from an alternative universe. It's a little...

[she trails off, her expression going a bit distant and sad. It's lonely, is what it is. Alienating. She knows them, but she doesn't. Sanzang shakes her head as if to clear it and forces a happy smile again] Well, I don't know a 'Kenren' where I'm from, but what I'm trying to say is that it doesn't matter if I know you or not, because I definitely intend to! And to be friends!

[ Kenren doesn't even know where to start. "Her soul knows him"? That would be a great pickup line if that's what she was trying to go for, but by now Kenren can tell that's not the case.

And then she brings up... "alternate universes"? This sounds exactly like one of Tenpou's sci-fi novels, but there's nothing fictitious about this! Is that really what's going on? Is that how they can be here at the same time as Gojyo's group?? ]

[ Please excuse his inarticulateness he's trying his best to cope. ]

[A bright little laugh and she shakes her head]

No, I've been through weirder things! I guess that's why it's so easy to accept. After a while you just sort of shrug and go "okay" when strange things happen.

[She seems to catch on that he might not fall into that category of 'let it roll off your back' like she is.]

...Do you need to sit down for a minute?

[ He's heavily leaning on his broom, but He Is Fine. ]

I should learn some of that—shrugging and accepting strange things happening. It would make things a lot easier around here.
