Summary: The Heavens don't like things being cluttered, so it's time to clean up a little bit.







Main Hall

While the main hall of the Heavens seems spotlessly clean at all times, that's not the case at all. In fact, it's been at least a decade since the last time they actually cleaned everything out properly. There are a lot of hidden closets and back rooms that have layers of dust and dozens of boxes filled with nothing but junk. Who knows, though! You might find something interesting and useful in there along with all the garbage.

Suprises

Unfortunately, some of the older temples on the Far Shore seem to have some interesting surprises tucked away, ranging from cursed artifacts all the way to magical creatures locked up in long-forgotten rooms. You are free to be creative with this as a way to get your characters into trouble while cleaning.

Complimentary Dinner

After all of your hard work, you deserve to have some tasty food and refreshing beverages. So the Heavens have provided that for you, so that you can wind down after a long day. It's not as fancy as the banquets they often put on, but there is a nice array of food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.

Counselling

As usual, there is a white-robed shinki bearing the gold chrysanthemum of Amaterasu sitting at a table in the Main Hall. There is a small sign that denotes her as the counselling shinki. Anyone is welcome to approach her, and she will smile serenely at anyone passing by as well.

[Seeing the cats flock right over to Sheryl's shinki is something of a phenomenon. Their stubborn persistence dissolves in the face of this new presence and they chase right after the man, despite his apparent efforts to dissuade their interest]

They're...not really my cats. I think they just live here.

[He's (kind of) sorry Zoro, but he holds no sway over these felines...]

[There's so many cats. So many cats. What if they start making noise?

Like purring for example.]

What the hell!?

[So many purring kitties all over Zoro, making it impossible to walk any farther. There goes his plan to escape.]

Where are they coming from? What did you do?

[Actually, if Zoro listens carefully, some of them are talking. And they are, in fact, commentating upon this tall, fascinating creature that just showed up. Some of this might even be embarrassing as they outright evaluate him]

All I did was clean that temple, as I was assigned to. They just kept showing up, the more I cleaned...

[Sorry, Zoro. Even more cats are migrating away from Slaine and over to this tall handsome pirate fellow]

[He's too busy trying to shoo the cats away, looking at Slaine.]

Who's temple is that? Any idea?

[Oh no, not more cats. Zoro picks one up and that's the biggest mistake he's done, because he can hear a voice now, telling him 'put me back on the floor, you brute!'. Zoro panics and drops the cat, who lands gracefully and goes back to mingling with the rest.

He looks up at Slaine, blinking, surprised.]

Did you hear that?!

I think it hasn't been in use f-

[His words stutter off into dead silence as he stares at that big cat Zoro just dropped. The look on his face alone suggests that he did indeed hear, wide-eyed with his eyebrows knitted together]

...I've never heard a cat talk before.

[wadoichimonji]

Me neither.

[He picks up another cat, and this one is a lot nicer. 'Yes! The handsome man picked me up! This is a good day!' and Zoro can't help it, he decides to put the cat on his shoulder and leave it there.]

... Ok, this is weird. Why don't you try it?

Try picking them up? I've done that pretty often today...

[And not once had he heard them talk. Perhaps they just didn't have anything to say to him, but they seem rather eager for Zoro's attention]

[Zoro frowns. The little one on his shoulder kept calling him 'handsome' and purring against his skin.]

That's weird. They only talked to me?

[He bends and picks up another cat, who stares at him and says 'You should have asked for permission first.' but Zoro ignores him.]

Here, hold this guy.

Are you sure? That one doesn't seem to want to be held...

[Or at least wanted permission first. A cat wanting permission asked is certainly different.

Then again cats talking at all is different all on its own]

[Zoro is about to say something when the cat meows, only to say 'now the pretty boy doesn't want to hold me? That's insulting!' Zoro chuckles, presenting the cat to Slaine.]

I think it changed its mind.

[He decides to hand the cat to Slaine whether the boy wants it or not, because then he's staring at the cats and talking to them.]

Can you guys just... Go away? We have to clean.

[Slaine looks to the left, then to the right. He doesn't know what 'pretty boy' refers to, but it doesn't for a moment occur to him that he might be the one described.

In either case, he handles the cat he's given carefully, as he would with Lily]

I already finished with this temple, actually...

So they won't let you leave?

[Zoro nods, watching the cat intently.

Such soft hands! Much better than this oaf!]

Oh! See? It likes you!

[He's cut off by the comment about his hands]

...Soft?

[Should a man actually want to have soft hands?]

[Zoro laughs, seeing Slaine's reaction to the cat's words.]

So soft and comfortable, please mister pet me!

My hands are all calloused and scarred, so I'm guessing yours are softer in general.

Calluses don't strike me as a bad thing...

[Slaine remains perplexed, though he cautiously pets the cat all the same, supporting it against his shoulder]

Probably aren't, the cat just doesn't like my hands.

[He picks up another cat, watching it move its tails, and purring softly. He places it in his arm and pets its softly.]

I kinda enjoy this.

So you're an animal fan?

[He'd seemed so insistent on getting away from the flock of cats before...but now he really does seem content]

... Not really.

[He pets the cat a bit more. Way softer than normal ones for sure.]

Animals seem to like me, no matter where I go.

I suppose, more accurately...animals are a fan of you.

[Go figure, a towering man who might seem imposing attracts flocks of fluffy critters]

[fluffy or not, he attracts even the scariest of animals.

He clicks his tongue, looking at the many cats as he pets the one on him.]

Yeah... It's annoying when there's as many as these, can't really move around too much.
