Summary: The Heavens don't like things being cluttered, so it's time to clean up a little bit.







Main Hall

While the main hall of the Heavens seems spotlessly clean at all times, that's not the case at all. In fact, it's been at least a decade since the last time they actually cleaned everything out properly. There are a lot of hidden closets and back rooms that have layers of dust and dozens of boxes filled with nothing but junk. Who knows, though! You might find something interesting and useful in there along with all the garbage.

Suprises

Unfortunately, some of the older temples on the Far Shore seem to have some interesting surprises tucked away, ranging from cursed artifacts all the way to magical creatures locked up in long-forgotten rooms. You are free to be creative with this as a way to get your characters into trouble while cleaning.

Complimentary Dinner

After all of your hard work, you deserve to have some tasty food and refreshing beverages. So the Heavens have provided that for you, so that you can wind down after a long day. It's not as fancy as the banquets they often put on, but there is a nice array of food and drinks for everyone to enjoy.

Counselling

As usual, there is a white-robed shinki bearing the gold chrysanthemum of Amaterasu sitting at a table in the Main Hall. There is a small sign that denotes her as the counselling shinki. Anyone is welcome to approach her, and she will smile serenely at anyone passing by as well.

[She claps a hand over her nose.]

What is that?

I think I just knocked this over! It's not me!

[ Umi scrambles for the jar and manages, purely for the sake of slapstick, to step on it, fall over onto her butt, and send it rolling across the room. ]

It's that! Grab that jar!

N-no!

[Instead, she dodges out of the way, allowing the jar to roll past. Good job Elise.]

I don't wanna touch it! It smells weird. What if it's something gross?

[dragon_blossom]

[ Practically springing to her feet, Umi gives pursuit. It's a good thing Elise dodged, or else Umi might have plowed her over. ]

Obviously! We have to contain it!

[lilys_poise]

How?

[But she chases after Umi anyway. Because the other girl is right. Letting that thing stink up the whole place would be awful.]

Maybe we could put in in a bigger jar?

[And then... do something with that jar. She doesn't know. At least it might block the smell.]

[ Throw it out the window.

Let someone else deal with it. ]

Get one! Any big jar!

[lilys_poise]

Right!

[She runs to the nearest large jar and, after checking that it's empty, hoists it up with effort.]

Ugh. Okay, got it!

[dragon_blossom]

[ Umi finally manages to dart around the room to the stinker, reaching down to carefully hold it in just her fingertips. Her eyes are watering. ]

Get over here!

[lilys_poise]

Coming!

[She brings the bigger jar over as fast as she can and holds it out.]

Hurry! Before the whole room smells yucky.

[dragon_blossom]

Before I smell any yuckier.

[ That is all that matters, so she dunks the jar into the bigger one. ]

[lilys_poise]

[And Elise snaps the lid back on quickly.]

Take that stinky jar!

[She flashes Umi a triumphant smile.]

We make a pretty good team.

[ Umi takes a deep breath of... well there's still some lingering scent actually and her eyes end up watering. ]

Why would that even exist?

[ But they won, so Umi smiles back at Elise. ]

You know, you're right! That was pretty great. I'm Umi Ryuuzaki.

[Elise wrinkles her nose at the fading scent.]

Maybe you're supposed to give it to people you don't like.

[Some sort of olfactory prank?]

I'm Elise! I just got here today.

[dragon_blossom]

Why would it be in here though?

[ It should be in... it should be somewhere else. ]

I'm Umi Ryuuzaki. Just Umi is fine. It's nice to meet you, Elise.

[ And she greets her with a bit of a bow. ]

Nice to meet you too!

[The question she considers carefully before shrugging.]

Well... there's a bunch of other jars here. Maybe this is just the jar room.

[Because every house has a jar room.]

The jar room.

[ ...she can't refute that concept. ]

I mean, I guess that's exactly what it is.

[lilys_poise]

[She looks around at the rest of the room and jars. She runs a finger across one of the jars and frowns. There's a pretty thick layer of dust on most of the surfaces. Hmm...]

Actually, maybe whatever was in that jar wasn't supposed to be stinky. Maybe it just went bad.

Think we should tell someone?

[ Umi leans against the nearest wall. That's enough excitement for one hour. ]

[lilys_poise]

Umm...

[She weighs doing the responsible thing against the possibility that they might get yelled at for just tossing stinky jar into another jar.]

Maybe we should just leave it alone. I mean, whoever put that jar here in the first place will probably come back for it someday.

[At which point it becomes their problem.]

[dragon_blossom]

[ Right, right. Getting yelled at on her first day would be the absolute worst. ]

I hope they can find...

[ Umi blinks. ]

Actually, no, they'd probably be up to no good.

[lilys_poise]

In that case, we did a good thing! We're keeping a dangerous object out of the wrong hands!

[Sure, that's it.]
