[There's talk of a new cat café having just opened in town. Sharing the name of an already popular business, it seems they're expanding to a second location. As with the original, the café occupies two stories of a building in the shopping district. Taking the stairs or elevator to the fifth floor leads one to the front doors of this new establishment, name bright and bold.

This first floor is the actual café area, offering beverages and snacks for purchase. Treats can be bought for the cats as well, who mill about the location in great numbers. Taking the stairs up to the second floor, yet more cats can be found, along with televisions and video game systems. If someone wants to spend time with cats, they've found themselves the right place to be.

Now, the thing is — they're really understaffed. And walk-ins may be encouraged (if not outright coerced) to fill out a job application. The business is doing well enough that they're hoping to get more hands on deck, so those wandering in or playing with the kitties a bit too long might just find themselves face to face with an application]

[ooc: Treat this as a cat café mingle. Toplevel and tag around to your heart's content, become an employee or a customer. Or try to smuggle cats and see what happens]

[Nodding, Ludger looks over at the other happy cats. It'd be really nice to work here. Maybe bring May so she could play with other cats.

He turns back to the other man.]

Just pet and play with her.

...That's all?

[Surprise is plain on his features.

It sounds incredibly simple, but Kaneki wouldn't have guessed at such an easy solution]

[Big smile from Ludger! Of course that's all there is to it! Cats can be rather simple creatures in their needs, even if some needs make them be all super annoying. Aren't they wonderful?

But now what. He's saved the other from potential cat love overdose. So... he should probably go back to the customer side of the counter. And be a customer.]

[When Ludger does move to the other side of the counter, Kaneki's quickly reminded that a customer just had to bail him out. That's...really not very good service on his part, is it?]

Oh, right- [He's moving quickly to correct that, procuring a menu and offering it to him] Here, we have a selection of snacks and beverages, and on the back there are treats for the cats if you're interested in that.

[And the guy might be, considering how he seems to be such a natural with felines]

[Ludger takes the menu and browses it for a few moments before pointing at café au lait and several different cat treats.

May as well have happy kitties while he enjoys his drink.

Even if this guy will now think he's more concerned with the happiness of cats compared to his own. Oh well. Everything is picked with a smile on his face.]

[He watches as the main points items on the menu out, surprised by the number of cat treats he seems to want. Of course, as an employee it's not his place to question the fact that he wants so many, but...

This guy must really like cats]

I'll get to work on your order right now then.

[Seeing as how he doesn't remember his past life, Ludger just assumes that cats were important to him. They felt important to him, and they seem to be really drawn to him. Technically... his god kind of kidnapped a cat because it likes Ludger a lot.

Ludger nods and takes another look around. There's a lot of people here.]

Do you need more workers?

[There doesn't seem to be enough.]

[Kaneki is already starting on Ludger's beverage when he speaks, but he pauses at the question, more for the fact that the man had spoken again than anything else. He's not met someone quite so quiet before]

Oh, yes actually- we're pretty understaffed so the management's been trying to encourage people to apply.

[Where Kaneki had thought he'd need to really put work into getting the job, he'd been practically cajoled into accepting a position instead]

[He usually doesn't really have a reason to say that much. Everyone else around him usually does all of it and they tend to cover and say the things that he might. He'll mostly answer when addressed, but hey, his face does all the talking for him.

Seeing the opportunity, Ludger doesn't hesitate.]

Could I work here?

[This place might not be so understaffed for long, it seems. Surprise flits across Kaneki's features, but he's quick to remind himself that's a natural follow-up to someone asking if a place is hiring]

If you're interested, I can get you an application. They um. Didn't take very long to look mine over...

[And he's still surprised he got a job when he can't find Anteiku in this...version...of Japan. Way to reference a job at a place he can't point out on a map]

[It'll be worse for Ludger. He will literally have no references on his application. Can't put down what you don't remember. Maybe he'll get lucky.

And wouldn't you know it, he's even come prepared with his own pen! Ludger nods, obviously wanting one of those applications. But now he wondering how his god will handle one of his shinki actually working for a living on something other than ayakashi hunting.]

[Well, Ludger does look quite ready. Maybe he came in intending to apply all along... The managers ought to be delighted, especially since he seems to understand cats so well.

It doesn't take him long to duck behind the counter and collect an application, and once he does he holds it out for Ludger to take]

Here you are. I can take it right to the manager when you're done.

[Not really. He just happened to find this place, see the cats, and then decided that this would be a great place to work in.

Ludger takes it, scanning over it quickly before giving Kaneki a quick nod. He's just going to go sit down and fill it out now.

.......... can he use his god as a personal reference?]

[Kaneki waits patiently behind the counter, knowing by now that he should remain right where people can see him. With the amount of staff available, it's better that they maintain some kind of visible presence.

And so he remains there, taking orders and occasionally moving cats from the counter and back to the floor]

[It's the reference thing that has him stumped for quite some time. In the end he puts down 'Ayumu' and 'Roxas' even if there's not phone numbers attached. Those two gods know he's a hard worker!

So it's with as little filled out as possible that Ludger returns the application to Kaneki. Let's hope this is good enough...]

[If Kaneki has any judgment on this application (and he doesn't) it doesn't show. He simply accepts it with all due gravity]

I'll run it over to the manager.

[Said as he gestures to the back office door with one hand]

[Ludger looks over with a slight nod.]

Thanks.

[It might be better to wait for the manager to check over the app, so Ludger takes a seat at a table. At least he can keep the cats happy and entertained during the waiting period.]

[Kaneki ducks into the back office and turns the application in to the manager. Shortly thereafter, said manager emerges with the application in-hand as Kaneki returns to the front counter.

It would appear Ludger's being looked for, if curious surveys of the room are any indication]

[Since Kaneki came out with another man, Ludger is to assume it's the manager. He glances over at Kaneki before standing and heading over to the manager to properly introduce himself. Why he feels so nervous is beyond him. Did he do something like this before in his former life?

Not that it matters at the moment. A job with food and cats has been gotten and Ludger looks like he just won the lottery.]
