open.
Who: Ken Kaneki
savor and you.
What: Word is you all like cat cafés...
When: 4/16 - 4/30
Where: Cat Café Calico
Warnings: Felines.
[There's talk of a new cat café having just opened in town. Sharing the name of an already popular business, it seems they're expanding to a second location. As with the original, the café occupies two stories of a building in the shopping district. Taking the stairs or elevator to the fifth floor leads one to the front doors of this new establishment, name bright and bold.
This first floor is the actual café area, offering beverages and snacks for purchase. Treats can be bought for the cats as well, who mill about the location in great numbers. Taking the stairs up to the second floor, yet more cats can be found, along with televisions and video game systems. If someone wants to spend time with cats, they've found themselves the right place to be.
Now, the thing is — they're really understaffed. And walk-ins may be encouraged (if not outright coerced) to fill out a job application. The business is doing well enough that they're hoping to get more hands on deck, so those wandering in or playing with the kitties a bit too long might just find themselves face to face with an application]
[ooc: Treat this as a cat café mingle. Toplevel and tag around to your heart's content, become an employee or a customer. Or try to smuggle cats and see what happens]

Yes, that will do. [ He takes a few calming breaths, before assessing the mess on her hair more critically. And as he takes his gloves off and begins the rinse, kneading and combing through those long strands with his fingers, he can’t help but remark, ]
You have lovely hair, Psyche. I feel that much more ashamed to have soiled it so.
no subject
[After a few breaths, she made her body relax. She found it a bit easier to close her eyes a little and focus on the sensation of her hair being smoothed and combed, shaking loose water droplets and earlier's mess. It wasn't...entirely unpleasant, at least. She almost felt like her mind could've drifted off for a while, until the comment startled her back. She blinked and then replied, a bit quickly and embarrassed]
It's okay, really. It's not like you were aiming for it. And hair's easier to fix than other things...

[ It won’t take him long to finish cleaning out those bits of dessert anyway, even if it makes such an unpleasant squelch between his fingers. It’s sad how the best of desserts can go… ]
And if you prefer, I can also compensate by providing you with a new wardrobe. I will only need to take your measurements—
no subject
[Psyche liked her current wardrobe, for one. And even if it wasn't for Forrest's fashion talents, she'd feel better about getting her own.]
And I can probably fix up my stuff without too much effort, too.
[Probably. Did mousse leave as bad stains as other things?]
no subject
Ah, but I’m quite adept at sewing. [ Sorry, that is sort of a lowkey jab at Psyche—overconfidence does that to people. ]
no subject
You sound like it...at least, you don't sound like you'd offer if you weren't sure you could do it.
[She's capable enough with a needle, she thinks. Enough she could do patch ups. But definitely not like Forrest]
My god's really good with that stuff, actually. He has a clothing shop and beauty salon, and has even made something for me once or twice...
[...Such as, that outfit for when they cleaned one of his follower's apartment .
no subject
Indeed? [ There’s only one god he knows who fits that description— ] You are the shinki of the god Lakshmi then?
[ Forgive him for looking surprised at this. ] I hadn’t imagined…
no subject
[She'd heard some shinki had been with more than one god for more than one reason but she couldn't imagine taking another god.]
It's been interesting but I'm satisfied with him. He's pretty nice and we work well together.
[Even if she'd thought he was a girl the first time they met.]
no subject
Of course, I should find no reason to covet another’s god. My own master carries himself with considerably more dignity [ or at least he wears black like all the time and keeps his face hidden and tends to be unintentionally creepy ] as befits his station.
no subject
[Though that might be because the 'gods' were originally human or mostly human, like the shinki (she assumed). She admitted though]
It's...not exactly what I think of when I think gods- [Unconsciously, her feeling about such things lent towards something much bigger] -but it hasn't been bad. With Forrest, at least, he just asked that we work as partners and protect each other. But I know some god-shinki pairs have different arrangements...
[Like Yumi and her shinki. She'd made it sound like she was parenting her shinki, more than anything.]
no subject
Jakob can see how she’d get that impression about gods. ]
I have noticed it as well. Many of the gods in the Far Shore are a good deal humbler than their titles would suggest. [ He begins toweling up her hair in the meantime, now that he’s got all of the gunk out. ]
I suppose, as the extensions of the gods, it is our duties as shinki to present them in an appropriately divine light.
no subject
[Except Sho. Psyche's eyes glinted darkly, for a moment, as she remembered that particular egotistical rampage. It faded, though, as the towel fluffed her hair. It tickled her scalp and she unconsciously shook her head a little, like a dog, before continuing]
I guess. I mean, that's how they get followers, right? When people on the Near Shore see something that might as well be a 'miracle' or some sign their god cares, that's more important than whether the god doesn't look or act that much differently than them. Or is a fashionista on the side or something.
no subject
However, appearances do matter for ones in such a high position. The Lord Forrest, as a matter of fact, demonstrates an admirable preoccupation for it. I find that religious iconography is one of the myriad ways in which the mortals are strengthened in their loyalty to their gods.
no subject
[She said, with a trace of amusement. Forrest's cuteness aside, he had a good feel for the theatrics people associated with godhood. Then, a bit curiously]
What's your god like? I mean, you speak pretty highly of him...
no subject
He is, like the Lord Forrest, rather diminutive in stature although considerably more menacing in appearance. Black, after all, is quite a fashionable color no matter the season; and with it he carries the solemnity of his position as a deity of the moon.
[ A thoughtful pause, then: ] Now that I think of it, I do believe he dresses as sensibly as you are. Perhaps even more so, given that his face is often in such shadow.
no subject
['Sensible' didn't sound like a bad descriptor - for her or Roxas. Though she was a bit curious why he'd hide his face...]
He sounds interesting, though. I'd probably be able to pick him out if I saw him. Just look for the short, menacing god in black with a hooded face.
[To her credit, she sounded half-joking about that description. Even if it did sound pretty accurate in her head.]
no subject
he’s looking at you Add/Leo/etc.]Precisely. He really has quite a presence about him. [ But there’s a thoughtful pause, before he adds: ]
Er, if he chooses not to simply skulk in the shadows instead. [ gdi Roxas ]
no subject
[Or at least, if she saw someone hiding in the shadows, that'd be a possible clue. With a thought to her own appearance. she waited for a break before tentatively running a hand through her hair. She felt through dampened locks and, while it wasn't a proper clean, she didn't feel anything sticky. Looking up at Jakob]
Um, does it look alright? Wetness aside, I mean.
[A lack of frosting still had to be better than most things, right?]

[She pulled her head up from the sink, suppressing a groan as the soreness from holding it at that angle settled in. She lightly rubbed her neck, glancing back at the sink. Sure enough, there were a few long strands that'd come loose, and she felt a bead of self-consciousness.]
I can clean that up, once we're done.

[She still felt some self-consciousness about leaving it to Jakob. However, he did seem pretty set on some things and it somehow felt ruder to just say no. Some awkwardness did sneak in a bit anyway, as she said, genuinely]
Thanks, again, then.
