[ closed ] Sugar God and Sugar Shinki
Who: Jade Curtiss and Watanuki Kimihiro
What: Jade butters up his god so he can get some basic essentials
When: April 17th, Morning - Day
Where: Far and Near Shore; Guanyin's Temple and then... shopping?
Warnings: Jade Curtiss
Cleaning the Hall of Heavens had gotten Watanuki into a frantic cleaning spirit. After he worked so hard on that temple, his own temple couldn't be left looking awful. Therefore the so-called 'busybody' god had taken to deep cleaning, starting with the indoors since they would be living in them. The important rooms first: kitchen, main hall, his room, Jade's room...
At the moment, he was in Jade's room, the last on his indoor list, washing down the windows and cleaning in the cervices to make sure all was well and shiny. He didn't want to have to do this more than once to get the look he wanted. The god was concentrating hard. This was his last part. He had already dusted, vacuumed, polished, and cleaned the rest of the room. The windows were the final touch. He hadn't even asked Jade to help, instead going around him with a flurry of yukata fabric, apron, and handkerchief covering his short hair.
"...Whew...!" And Watanuki pulled his hands away from a glistening circular window. He wiped a little sweat from his brow. "And that takes care of that...!" Ah, things looked so wonderful clean!

He wandered around the courtyard and garden, inspecting the different flora that grew there. He was trying to rack his brain for the names of them, but the only things that came to mind were "tree", "flower", and "grass". His mind felt strangely empty. He knew he had no recollection of his life's memories and that didn't really matter too much to him. He didn't have a desire to know. But he felt like there was a vast amount of information that was stored in his brain and it was just gone. Or maybe not just gone but totally irrelevant. Perhaps he couldn't recall any of the names of things because they didn't have a name in his head.
It was then, he realized that he needed some stuff. He needed access to information, to communication, to researching materials. It was an instinctive need like hunger. It would have also been nice to get out of these white robes. They weren't his color.
Jade then made his way back to where Watanuki was finishing up his room. It looked pristine! He was mildly impressed.
"It looks magnificent..." What did he call him exactly? He was his master, so...he should address him properly, he supposed. He hadn't actually addressed him directly before now. He was lost in his own thoughts for the past couple of days. "My Lord Kimihiro."

"...What?" Oh. Right. This guy was his... his vassal or something of the sort. He owned him. Which sounded awful to say but it wasn't off the mark by any means. Watanuki lowered the rag he was using, glancing to Jade with mismatched eyes. And oh, right, right. He had used the name 'Kimihiro' with him. It didn't feel right to correct him. "Oh...
"Thank you." He looked about the room and how in place and clean it all was. The curtains and rugs had been taken outside and beaten with a broom to rid of dust, he vacuumed, he shined the furniture... and it smelled good, too. He looked to Jade.
"You can relax in peace, now that I've finished with your room." He started picking up his bucket of cleaning supplies.

"May I ask you for a favor?" He was going to get right to the point. Watanuki seemed like he was in a good mood, so maybe it would be easy to ask.
no subject
"...What is it?"

So he could play him like a fiddle. So that he could gauge what his moods and mind sets."About other clothing and perhaps some other things...Where can we get them? I saw other shinki wearing various types of clothing and some had books. Would it be all right to do a bit of shopping?" He pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. He was a little embarrassed to be asking for things. He didn't know why. But he felt like he was more self sufficient than this.

"...We'd have to go to the Near Shore for that." He'd been there when he came, and saw his shrine (to which, it was nice to see that someone was cleaning it, and that he had seen at least two visitors, even if that wasn't much). He'd taken a little money from it to buy cleaning supplies at a 100 yen store. Surely, there was still some left... but...
"What exactly are you wanting." Because he was not going to just go on a day trip and blow all their money on bullshit, that was for certain.

But he did seem to ponder on it for a moment. "Hm..." There were several avenues to go about this. He couldn't deny that Jade at least needed a couple of pairs of clothes to change in and out of so he wasn't just sleeping naked while Watanuki did his laundry. And it would look bad on him, anyway, if his shinki didn't have some basic clothes to wear. That was no good.
If anything they could always hit up some of the nice resale shops. Just going to a regular thrift store sat wrong in his stomach. He would feel... just wrong putting Jade in second-hand crap. At least it should be nice clothing. And a means of communication...
"Hm..." He still wasn't one-hundred percent convinced. "Well..."

Jade hoped that a logical approach to this would be sufficient. He'd already appealed to his ego by complimenting the cleanliness of the room and adding some solid logic to make it sound reasonable.
"You're my only provider, so I don't know who else I could possibly turn to for these things" And last, appeal to that motherly instinct he seems to have.

"...I suppose we can go and see what we can do." He got him. No promises, but an attempt, at least. He shifted the bucket to his other hand in order to point up to Jade's nose. "But we'll go where I say we're going. This kind of stuff can get expensive, and until we get more prayers in, we're on a budget." He started heading out of the room.
"Come on. We're going. Let me put this stuff away and then we can go to my temple on the Near Shore." It still felt strange to say it. My temple.

Jade followed him out of the room, staying a step behind him, with this hands in his sleeves.

"Stay still." He knew he could do this, but he wasn't sure how. he made a slight face, before deciding to err on the side of caution, and take Jade's hand in his. Best not to lose him in the process. "Here we go."
And then--they were there, standing right in the front of Guanyin's temple on the Near Shore. It was a large temple, much like on the Far Shore. However, also like it was back home--it was empty.
Watanuki looked up at him.
"All right, we're here. Looks like we're both all in once piece." he was still holding his hand. He started glancing around, towards the offering box. He felt like he was stealing. But it was for him anyway, right?
no subject
Oh well, he already died once, what was one more time?
But they were there, in the Near Shore. He looked around at his surroundings. It had a different atmosphere. It was less ethereal and he could hear people and see tall buildings off in the distance. This was a whole different world to learn about and it was a bit exciting.
He waited for Watanuki to finish what he needed to do then.

Watanuki stashed handfuls of coins and bills into the pockets of his yukata sleeves. There. They'd just work with what they had. He turned to Jade, letting out a sigh.
"Okay. Let's go get you some clothes." He glanced around. This wasn't where he used to live, but he knew where they were, at least, and the general area. Before, he would have had to take a train for an hour and a half to get here. Was it really the same world? Or a different dimension of the same place? Hm.
He started walking out of the temple, heading towards the city. "I know where we're going, so just follow me." Clothing shopping in the Koenji area. It was the land of second-hand.

To be so helpless bothered him.
Jade let out a sigh and followed him.

"Ow--" It was like a painful bug bite, sharp and sudden. A hand flew up to his chest, and he halted in place. An electric shock. "Jeez--
"What happened...?" He started looking around, checking himself over with a twist and turn of his hips and the rest of his body. "Did something bite me...?"

"H-hey wait a minute, what did you do?!"
no subject
The sudden accusation made him raise his eyebrows. For once, his innocence was not being feigned.
"I haven't done anything. Is something wrong?"

He was having ill feelings, though. The fact that Watanuki could feel them through a painful sting was concerning. He didn't like the idea that someone could feel his vulnerabilities, but then, it made sense. If he belonged to a god, then how could they not be connected in a deeper sense.
His bad thoughts started to be replaced with new ones, curious ones, ones he wanted to learn more about.
"Can you read my mind?"

"Stop feeling sorry for yourself." Another pause. "I'll..."

He added, just in case, "Besides, it's only temporary. This place is a lot different than your world."
no subject
If not for Watanuki, he would have to be more careful about his thoughts and feelings. He didn't like someone being so privy to them. Though, it was probably unavoidable.
"I suppose you're right" he said with a collected expression on his face. "My apologies"

It didn't take long for them to get to the thrifty shopping district. They ended up taking a bus, which, by now Watanuki knew that no one noticed them--unless they were about to just sit on them. Watanuki sat on the outside to deal with that if it was necessary, allowing Jade to take his seat by the window. There were only on the bus for about fifteen or so minutes before they got off along with a flood of other people.
Various individuals were packed in the streets doing their bargain hunting. Watanuki walked around, carefully evaluating everything. "Hm... no good... too thrifty...
"Oh." And he stopped in front of a place that sported signs for designer labels. "This might work." The clothes on the displays looked nice, anyway.
no subject
"Well then, shall we?" he said, ready to get the clothes shopping done and over with.
