Yūto - The Dark Duelist ([personal profile] darkduelist) wrote in [community profile] thenearshore2016-08-25 07:30 pm

[closed] Hello my friend

Who: Yuto ([personal profile] darkduelist) and Shun Kurosaki ([personal profile] revolutionfalcon)
What: Yuto and Shun talking about the past.
When: Some time before the Spring Cleaning event
Where: Some shady rooftop in the Near Shore
Warnings: Shun being Shun?

[From his vantage point up on the rooftop, Yuto is observing the streets, waiting. He's sent Shun a message with this location. It's better to meet in such a natural place than in any of the shrines.

Yuto still doesn't know what he thinks of Shun Kurosaki... That guy introduced himself as Yuto's friend from the past... except what Yuya says and what Shun says don't exactly match. But considering the fact that Yuya also has holes in his memory, maybe this shouldn't be too surprising. Maybe it can all be explained somehow.

Yuto sighs to himself.

That's why he needs to talk to Shun, ask him about things he already knows and then maybe this strange puzzle will start to form a clearer picture. Though, he's more than sure Shun won't be willing to tell him much (again), but Yuto won't stop trying.

Then he remembers Yuuki's words. We aren't supposed to remember. He closes his eyes.

Is it really such a bad thing to wish to know your past?]

[It's not long at all before Shun gets there. He's not one to waste time, his own or anyone else's, especially when it's Yuto asking to meet him. It's been about a week since they last spoke, and though he's been busying himself enough with settling into this weird place, he had been planning to seek Yuto out again. If nothing else, to make sure he was settling in with this apparent other Yuya as his god.

He expects Yuto to be keeping an eye out for him, and despite trusting him, being watched in his approach has never particularly sat well with Shun. So rather than come through the streets, he chooses to teleport directly to the rooftop, appearing with barely a whisper a respectable distance behind Yuto.]

I'm here. Now tell me why. [Yuto wasn't exactly specific in his summons.]

[Shun's expression is already slipping from neutral to frustrated and uncomfortable before Yuto even finishes that sentence, and he holds his hand up as if to stop him before he asks too much more.]

Yuto, you know I can't tell you much more than you already know. If you're doing this again, be careful what you're asking.

[But if Yuya managed to tell him that much, he should be able to flesh it out, at least.]

Yuya and I don't think we're from each other's worlds, either. We dueled recently. Neither of us uses cards the other is familiar with, and I know he's not exactly the same as the Yuya I knew in personality.

Anyway, all I know about that is you went missing not long ago - two weeks, if that. Before that, you weren't any kind of spirit. [It's probably a good thing Shun literally can't provide details about his death, since he wasn't there to see it - then again, is it really a death given the circumstances? As far as he knows, Yuto could be from beyond that and just not aware of it, given he knows he still exists within Yuya.]

[It was a hard sell even for Shun, who's been at least familiar with the idea of different dimensions for a while now, so Yuto's reaction doesn't surprise him. Actually, if anything, he looks a few shades sympathetic. Though it's not an issue of memory and so it presumably isn't hurting him, it has to be hard to get his head around - especially if, as he knows from both Hajime and now Yuto, Yuya had been here before.

He can see how the thought of it being a different Yuya entirely could be unsettling. Of the changes in personality he's observed, most of them he hasn't much appreciated.

From Yuto's reaction, it's not difficult to tell he's trying to go further, but can't quite get there. He still hates everything about this situation and what it's doing to Yuto, but with the lack of answers he's been getting about even the people seemingly getting memories back, there's nothing he can do about it for now.

The silence does prompt him to remember something else he discussed with Hajime, though, and rather than push Yuto on or away, he reaches back and pulls out his own duel disk.

If Yuto still has his, the design is identical.]

I asked Hajime if you still had your duel disk the other day, but she didn't remember seeing it. I thought I'd ask you the next time we met.

[Interesting...it's something he supposes he should have expected in the case of a shinki, and Yuya not having had one before seems to confirm that to be the reason. With a short nod, Shun puts it away again.]

Yuya's is a different style from mine. It might've helped identify which world you were from, but I didn't think the idiots running this place would've let a shinki keep something like that if it'd trigger memories.

[It's impossible not to catch the derision and edge of bitterness in his tone at the mention of the people who run the Heavens. From the start, he'd been given no reason to trust them given this, and it's done nothing but get worse from then on.]

If it's probably not the same Yuya, I wouldn't call it Yuya "coming back".
