[OPEN] WELCOME TO 2016
Who: Sanae and YOU
What: sanae catching up on modern things
Where: Around the city!
When: April 21, any time of day
[ QUICK BACKSTORY TIME? Quick backstory time: Sanae moved from the modern world to Gensokyo, a sort of late 1800's fantasy Japan in the boondocks when she was 13/14. She's 21/22 now.canon is vague
Which means she's back in the modern world and it is amazing and beautiful and there are so many new games and electronics and gadgets. Ahhh, she's so excited! Look at the fashion! Look at all the new manga out! And all the old manga that she never got to finish when she moved! Look at the new nail polish colors! Sanae is very, very happy to be back in Tokyo. ]
A, manga, the Near Shore: [ If you happen to be in the same aisle of a manga store with her, or maybe you've been brought along with her, but anyway you might hear her say the following: ] Ehhhh, no way! [ She says in disbelief, holding up the last volume of a shoujo manga titled Vegetable Garden. ] Miho-chan ends up with Natsume-kun's older brother?! But the older bother is so... so strict and stern!
[ How disappointing of an ending! ]
B, shopping, Harujuku: [ Sanae's out shopping, because she hasn't been shopping for a while. Not only is she shopping, she's shopping in one of the craziest and unique fashion centers of the world. In her dress and sweater for spring, she looks very out of placealso because she has a shit fashion sense. Let's say that she ran into you, or maybe she asked you to come along. Regardless, she's picking out a hat and placing it on her head. ] Mm.... what do you think? Is it too big?
[ Yes, it's too big. It's also ridiculously ugly with a bunch of feathers and chains and buttons on it. ]
C, game store, Shibuya: [ HOLY SHIT-- ] There's-- there's been so many new Pokemon games since I was gone! [ AH THE HUMANITY. SHE HAS TO CATCH UP WITH CATCHING THEM ALL, RIGHT NOW!! ] What else have I missed?!
[ Oh nothing much. Maybe a couple of Gundams. Jojos. Dragon Quests. The works. Speaking of robots, she'll be admiring the miniature model ones. ]
D, shide-folding, the Far Shore: [ Sanae is folding shide. But there comes a point where she must now measure its height. WHICH MEANS...! She'll be trespassing onto your temple grounds and going straight up to the shrine. Flying up to the roof she lets the shide unfold downwards. In fact, she lets all the shide she's been weaving do the same on the single roof, the streams different lengths and sizes.
Now it may look like your home is being TP'd with zig-zag paper, congrats.
She looks at them thoughtfully, tilting her head. ] ...Hmmm, think those are long enough?

[He nearly sounds affronted.] Discipline is the bedrock of success. If the man can work hard and provide for his family, that Miho is lucky to be married to him.
[Lu Meng you don't even know the plot of Vegetable Garden.]
no subject
[ Her eyebrows knit together, and she places a hand over her heart. ] The rest of her life may be dull and boring, even if the older brother is the "cool"-stoic type! [ She really doesn't mean to offend Lu Meng's marriage, even indirectly. ] Miho-chan must have seen something in him that the readers didn't... love over stoicness. That's what counts!
no subject
Miho simply saw the sense in having a decent, responsible man as her husband. Why should it matter if he is a serious man, if he promises to take care of her for the rest of his life? [But really, he's taking potshots on why Miho picked Natsume's older brother. His displeasure lessens and turns more resigned.]
Still...I have not read this book. It would be presumptuous for me to assume that Miho would be happy to be at that man's side, or that the man would properly uphold the responsibilities of a husband.

Hers is just as badShe had been out and about in Tokyo, having no idea how she managed to wander into Harujuku, but rather glad when she ran into Sanae earlier. Else she would have been awash in bright
neoncolors and cuteuglyaccessories. But even she knows that hat is too big for Sanae.]
Um... Just a little?
[She looks around quickly, spotting a (smaller) newsboy cap that happens to be a bright orange with a cute purple flower attached to the side.
Hinata holds it up instead.]
But, um, here! This should be a better fit at least?
no subject
[ She turns around, looking over her shoulder at her reflection to get a profile view of the flower. ] It's cute! Hey, hey-- you should try it on, too! The purple would match your eyes!
no subject
Hm... I don't think we'll find that many bonnets around here. Well, at least, not in this store. But bows... Um, they could be really cute.
[She pauses and looks at the hat.]
And... Possibly? [Orange is her favorite color, too..] But I think... It'll be best on you.

[ Genos is merciless like that. Not that he looks entirely normal, because a cyborg, who's wearing a... blue yukata. There is no matsuri in sight. ]
no subject
---She coughs into her hand, a bit taken aback by his. Um. Bluntness. ]
[ But then she smiles! Awkwardly! ] G...good catch, Genos. [ Assuming they exchanged names already?? ] So logical! And practical! [ She's fishing for the good out of such a scathing review. ] Your advice is appreciated. But I was thinking that maybe the point of the hat is to obscure vision? Like-- like some sort of helmet. Or ultra-fashionable trend of 2016!
no subject
[ No corn so far, but he's browsing belts, and shoes. Too bad all stuff here seems to be just weird. At least the studded belt looks normal, but he needs to get pants to use it. And shirts that are not full of holes. ]
If that's what you need, this looks like a helmet. [ He hands Sanae a package of weird crocheted cap. Not just practical, but also overly literal ] Obscuring vision sounds like a very pointless requirement, though.

It... stands out a little much, yes. And I've found less is more when it comes to accessories.
no subject
And then browsing another shelf, she picks out a scarf! ] Less is more... like this! [ It's a checkered scarf with lace and feathers, equally hideous. ]
no subject
...I'm afraid the scarf has the same problem.

Man, I got a lotta catchin' up to do! I wonder if I can afford all this stuff...
Re: C
She has all of the giant robots. He has all of those magical girls. But that is a lot more magical girls than robots. ] ......--You too? [ She heard "catching up". ]
It looks like your catch-up time could bee weeks, are you planning on marathoning all of those DVDs? [ Oh please someone tell her about the new idol craze. ]

But his big, unsuitably Western house has a second story porch, so he spends a moment standing there peering down the length of the shide before turning to quite literally squint up from there toward the roof. He even brought coffee, to sip judgmentally throughout this process.
Oh, it's Sanae! ... That explains nothing at all.]
What's a young lady like yourself doin' in a place like this?
no subject
What do you think? [ She continues to shout from afar. ] Are they long enough??

He looks them over before nodding. To him they look long enough. Or was she meaning for them to be even longer?]
no subject
...Mm, yes. You're right. It is long enough! [ But then she narrows her eyes. ] But are they all smooth enough? No one would want wrinkles in their shide...
no subject
After all... if they're going to be here on his god's temple for a while, they ougtha look nice.]

He pauses when he spots someone familiar inside, talking loudly next to a display of boxes. He didn't plan on going in... but he's not in any rush, so it's fine if he just takes a peek, right?
He leans over her shoulder, trying to get a better look at whatever it is she's so excited about.]
What's that? Don't tell me you're into childish stuff like this.
no subject
This is actually a giant robot, but scaled down to 1/20 of it's size! It can fly and go into space and shoot laser beams! Things like that-- they aren't childish at all!
