A. On the streets and about town...

Good afternoon!

[ You might have been wandering around or just arrived from the Far Shore when this perky voice attempts to get your attention. He raises his hat in greeting as he comes over before replacing it back on his head. ]

I was wondering if you could spare a moment? We could have a coffee you and I, or anything you fancy. My treat!

[ He seems almost desperate. Despite the cheerful smile, there's an almost pleading look in his eyes as he waits for your answer. Brush him off? Accept his offer? He's waiting. ]

B. By running water waiting...

[ He's probably had enough of socializing for the afternoon but maybe you've seen him earlier, offering his company or a free snack. Right now he's alone, sitting on the railing of a bridge and staring out into the river below. ]

They've been gone too long... prolly best they went home.

[ He flops his empty sleeve uselessly. ]

Who knows... maybe I'll see them out and about in this town if I looked hard enough!

[ His momentary cheeriness disappears, replaced instead by his drooping shoulders. So much for trying to cheer himself up. ]

I've found some choice shops if that's your thing, too! But as soon as we're done, I can send you on your way if you'd rather go on your own.

[ This one seems like some cheerful company. Just what he needed. ]

I do need to pick up some fabric and sewing supplies. If you know of a good place, that would be wonderful.

[Yup, pleased as punch over here.]

The creative type then, eh? Always good to have someone of that sort about. 'Fraid I don't know myself but we'll prolly be able to spot somewhere decent.

[ Grinning back at him. Yup this sounds like a great time to be had. ]

I've got some time, so there's no rush.

[Forrest isn't on any kind of specific timetable for this, after all.]

[That was a lot of names, but Forrest will just go with the first one he tossed out.]

Only a few weeks, actually. I arrived during the incident at the local school.

[ He does give a very obvious shiver at the mention of school. ]

I'd sat that one out meself. Between you'n me, I'd rather not step into another school for the rest of my afterlife, thank you very much.

[ But he does manage to recover and grin back. ]

Sounds like I might've missed out on a fair bit there.

There were quite a few ayakashi to be defeated. It was a rather challenging first day here.

[But now he's getting the impression that being thrown into the deep end is just how this place works.]

[ There's a low whistle at that. Gosh, talk about a mess. ]

Wasn't any different during my first day in. We had to give out these chocolates then suddenly ayakashi all over the blooming place! Madness, that's what it was.

Ever seen anything like it before?

I have, actually. The ayakashi here remind me of the faceless - monsters from home that are summoned by powerful magic.

[ He can't help the tiny shiver that goes down his spine. ]

Blimey, with a name like the faceless... that sounds utterly horrid. Sorry you had to go through that sort of malarkey, sweetheart. Good on you for making it out alive though!

Well that's a relief! Though this is prolly an out of the frying pan and into the fire bit for you though, innit?

Unfortunately, yes. But it hasn't been all bad. My shinki and I have been getting along well, and I've met a lot of nice people here.

[ And glancing down one of the shopping streets as they passed. ]

You know, I've seen them sell almost everything here. There's prolly someone who has what you need. Fancy taking a look?
