Who: Everyone!
What: Sparring, training etc
When: All day March 2nd
Where: A fancy pants gym in the far shore
Summary: There's a war going on and it won't be won sitting around twiddling your thumbs. Time to work up a sweat and earn yourself a few bruises and bragging rights in the process.

Turns out the far shore isn't devoid of some of the more earthly facilities enjoyed in life. Not the least of which is a gym. And not just one of those, hot cramps, 24/7 affairs but a whole arena that looks like it might have been plucked out of some classical epic. A real gym for the stars. Or the gods as it were. Upon finding it, it leaves Shepard with just a few ideas and today is the day they come to fruition. A couple days back, guests and residents alike recieve a mass invitation with the time and the place to come spar, train and otherwise get together to work out this situation.

The Main Event;
The largest space is dominated by a number of sparring rings for everyone to take advantage of. And off on the sidelines is ever possible melee weapons one could imagine. It's the perfect time to work on your skills before another wave of ayakashi show up to catch you and your shinki off guard. Some of the rings are even dotted with practice dummies for those pairs that are still figuring out exactly how this god and shinki thing works together. Or perhaps you'd like to pick up some new abilities. You never know when you might be caught off guard with only a bottle opener and a ball of twine to defend yourself. Just grab a partner and have at it.

The Shooting Range;
You didn't think the far shore's most vocal gun advocate would leave this out did you? But it's not just guns that stock the racks at this range. Bows and arrows from all ages as well as a rather impressive collection of throwing knives lay amidst the firearms. You might even find the odd slingshot or two if you really look hard enough. But target practice is target practice which makes this the perfect time to engage in some friendly competition with your neighbor, regardless
of the weapon.

Combat Instruction;
Perhaps some of you come from a world where war is the furthest thing from your mind. Where the worst you have to worry about is whether or not you passed that last exam or when that girl down the street might finally notice you. But to some, your recruitment into the battle against the Ayakashi is just one more stage in the mundane fight that's followed you for most of your life. There's novices and experts alike and this is where both can come together to share their skills. We're all in this together brogamis.

The Water Cooler;
More like a whole corner of the gym that's stocked with not only water, but juice, energy drinks, power bars and all manner of refreshments. There's a pile of clean towels for those of you that really work up a sweat and a bin for you to kindly dispose of them. After a hard day of hitting the gym, it's always nice to relax, unwind, maybe shoot the shit with a few new friends. Or enemies. No one said you had to get along and that was the last bag of chips after all.

Shooting Range/Open

Hey, look at that!

[Tsuzuki slings a quiver over one shoulder, and picks up one of the bows, glancing over at the archery butts lined up downrange. It's been a couple of years since Hisoka showed him the proper posture, but he's pretty sure he remembers the basics, and a bit of long range practice wouldn't be a bad idea.

Maybe he can try tying ofuda to the arrows....]

I didn't know they kept the archery range in the gym. Hey, have you ever tried? Want to give it a shot?

Hey! So I don't spend a lot of time at the gym. [He tips her a cheerful wink. She's the one he promised to show how to shoot, after all, so if she found the archery range so much less work for him!

Now he just has to look like he knows what he's doing. And focus really hard on his aim.]
sweetdeath: (wait i don't think i got that)

s'all good! ♥

Well... it might've taken longer.

[He hefts his bow, and adds cheerfully:] Don't worry about all the sensei stuff, I've just done this a couple times! Once you remember the stance the really important thing is focus.

It's like this...

[Hisoka probably would've found some details to nitpick, but Tsuzuki thinks he's got it basically right: one foot forward, shoulders turned, fingers held back.]

Yeah, but it makes me feel old!

[He's a youthful ninety-seven, thank you very much. And he looks a little blank at the wax on, wax off comment, because he's really not young enough for it. He eyes her posture... okay, she's got the idea. He'll let her try an arrow and see how that goes.

Also, he's definitely going to have to get this one right if he's going to convince her he can take care of himself a little, he thinks, and takes a deep breath, setting an arrow to the string.]

Keep your arms steady or it'll mess up your aim, and release, like this.

[He takes another breath, aims, and lets go of the string. The arrow plunks into the target about a handsbreadth to the left of the bull's eye.

Hey, not bad! If he puts some time in here he might give Terazuma a surprise the next time they run into each other. The look of surprise shading into smugness on his face might give away that he hasn't put in too much practice before now.]

Sure, that's one water bottle that won't bother you again.

[He's not going to win on the sensei thing, is he. He lets it go with a pained look, and considers her stance. Honestly it looks okay to him.]

Aim a little lower next time. The arrow doesn't drop that much, not over a short range like this.

[... and because his odds of ruining his cool sensei reputation go up the more arrows he tries to put into the target, he lets his own bow fall to his side and turns to watch her fire the next one. Maybe her hands jerked up at the last moment or something. It'll be easier to see this way.]

Whoa, nice! You're picking up on this fast. It does take a little time, you know, getting the muscles used to doing that kind of work and stuff.

[He sets his arrow to the bow and tries again. This one lands a ring outside his first effort.

At least these targets are pretty forgiving. If he were trying to send arrows through rings or anything he'd be missing by a mile, he ruefully admitted to himself, and let his bow fall.]

I haven't done it in a while, I guess! Haha, you should try Hisoka. He's got a lot more training than me.
