008 | Sakura 2.0: You Can (Not) Have A Picnic

Who: Everyone!
What: Sakura picnic
When: Evening April 25
Where: The same sakura park as last time
Summary: Amaterasu has had a request to return to view the cherry blossoms one more time and she has decided to make it happen.

The cherry blossoms have yet to all fall from the trees, and so the Heavens have seen fit to hold another blossom viewing - this time with a picnic instead! The trees themselves do not have the ethereal glow they had last time, but there is a sweet scent that fills the air, drawing anyone inexorably towards the beautiful trees.

As a surprise, Amaterasu has sent her counselors to join the picnic as well. They can be found wandering around and enjoying the sights and foods just the same as anyone else.

All new arrivals will have been whisked away to the picnic by Amaterasu's shinki so that they can enjoy this escape just the same as everyone else. It seems Amaterasu doesn't want to leave anyone out this time, and so many of her shinki are milling around as well, clad in white with the golden chrysanthemum embroidered on their outfits.

Picnic

Dozens upon dozens of brightly colored picnic blankets have been provided for the guests to use. On top of that, pre-packed picnic boxes have been provided as well. They range from American-esque picnic baskets all the way to Japanese style bentos. Everyone is free to take as many boxes as they would like to and share among each other. Every picnic box has something different for everyone to enjoy.

Cherry Blossoms

The blossoms are falling freely now, showing that they are on their last leg of life. But the scent of the cherry blossoms has become so intense that it draws anyone who smells it towards the trees. You might find that if you breathe in too deeply or too long, it's like an intoxication equivalent to having drunk all night long. Good luck keeping up straight!

Performance

A performance stage has been erected in the park by the Heavens and there are a number of shinki who will sing and dance or perform in other ways whenever they have a spare moment. Gods and their shinki are encouraged to get up on the stage and perform as well, if they have anything that they would like to perform for their fellows.

Fire

Around sunset, the festivities will come to a screeching halt as a sudden burst of flames spreads through the trees, igniting them one by one. The spread of the fire is so rapid that it is very obviously unnatural. It will take a lot of teamwork and a large number of hands to put the fire out - or maybe you prefer to just run away. Either way, it will be hard to miss the pieces of paper that fly through the air, all bearing the same words: Down with the Heavens! Down with Amaterasu!

In Summary:
  • Enjoy the cherry blossoms
  • Enjoy the picnic food
  • Meet Amaterasu's counselors
  • View or participate in the performance
  • Put out the fire
  • Have fun~

Eh---? [ She falters, and it's only because that in some sense it does make sense. Is she granting miracles too much? Is she helping out too much? She can see his point, how it may make one think those that ask for help are weak.

But in the end she shakes her head, taking a breath to calm herself. You ready for her soujo spiel? ]
No, that's not right. Humanity should be able to stand on its own, yes. But they are strong as they are, not weak overall! Still, to have moments of weakness, to be desperate at times, or to only wish for something more once in a while-- that, too, is being human. [ It's not like she coddling humans of those who pray.

She looks up at him. ]
I would not fault them for that. And as a god, as someone who is born because of their wishes and beliefs, and as a human-- none of us are above helping out our fellow mankind. It's through working together that humans are strong, that they've accomplished so much. If I can be a little help in any way possible, no matter how small a wish, then that's good!

[ This is the second time that someone has claimed gods are brought into being through human wishes. The assertion seems no more right to him now than it did when Sora said it.

And that's only the first thing she says that has him internally recoiling.

(The part about humanity being strong he entirely dismisses because he knows that's just crazy talk.)

Her words imply that she was human and that he was human as well. And oh that notion conjures up a riot of feelings. The first of which is the adamant belief that she is wrong; he is not and never has been human. The rest is a muddle of emotions that flash bright then fade behind others. All of that might have been manageable, except he cannot remember how he knows these things. The sensation of being adrift rouses once again and mixes with the rest of a powder keg of emotion. All it needs is a spark to set it off - a target for the anger and confusion (though he'll adamantly deny the last) welling up within him.

The curl of his left hand and the virulent green glow of his eyes herald the brewing storm and speak of the sudden spike in his potential to do violence. A lot of it.

All that stays his hand - for the moment - is that he's yet to meet this god to whom he's been bound. ]

Humanity -- [ The word and tone convey more derision than a lengthy explanation could. The he smiles, but the expression is not the least bit pleasant. ] I see. Answer their inane little wants and in return you gain from them for as long cry for you to meet their needs.
