Who: Katniss and Kuroyukihime
When: May 04
Where: The Near Shore
What: Prayer #3
Warnings: None currently; will update if there are some.
[ The prayer: This neighborhood is so loud at night that my baby keeps waking up. I wish there was something I could do, but the cops won't quiet things down. I'm just so tired!
Katniss can understand that. She's not too fond of loud noises herself, so of course she'd want to take on this prayer. Especially when a kid's involved? She's gonna make sure they get some sleep. ]
So first, we look for whatever idiot's making it impossible for anyone to sleep, I guess.

It's like looking for a needle in a haystack. This neighborhood seems deceptively peaceful...

[ Looking up now, glancing at what windows she can, trying to make sense of the neighborhood. ]
Did they ever mention what kind of noise it was? That would at least give us something to look out for.
[ It could be anything at this point. Mating cats, overprotective dogs, rowdy frat parties, late night karaoke... ]
no subject
[ ... Which is annoying. ]
I guess we just walk around or something. It'd be better than just waiting and hoping.
no subject
[ Definitely annoying. But what can they do? There's a sigh as she moves to stand beside her god rather than loiter around.]
I can only draw two conclusions: they either have noisy neighbors... or noisy ayakashi.
no subject
If it's an ayakashi, we could try to draw it out somehow.
no subject
But what would it want, to begin with? Was it causing noise just to elicit negative emotions in the residents of this area?

no subject
But if that was the case... how would we draw it out?

The people in the Near Shore can't hear us. So maybe if we make a louder noise, and the thing's at all competitive, we might be able to lure it to us.
[ ... It sounded better in her head. ]
no subject
I'd bank more on it coming out to consume whatever negative emotions our noise causes rather than it being competitive.
[ And a frown. ]
Banging on garbage cans might not be enough, however..

Yeah, I guess you have a point. Maybe--
[ Wait. ]
There are those portable speaker things, right? And we have our devices. Maybe hook one up and play something loud.
no subject
[ Already she's eyed a nearby electronics store. Surely it wouldn't hurt to 'borrow' a pair of portable speakers, right? ]
That might actually be enough to recreate whatever commotion is going on at night. Given a residential area like this, I wouldn't be surprised if that's the problem they've been having.

Should I go get some speakers?

[ She'll just nod once before meandering over to a nearby electronics store. Heck, she doesn't even bother dealing with the attendant. Instead, she just peers at whatever's on display and comes back a moment later with a set of plug-and-play speakers. The kind you could probably use on a table. ]
I'm not sure if these are enough. It was going to be a little harder to make off with a stereo system.
no subject
They'll work. As long as they can handle a lot of noise.
no subject
[ With that, she sets the speakers down, coming back after a moment with what looks to be an empty trash can. ]
This should help the sound carry.
