What: Emergency demon fighting

Where: Just outside of Tokyo
Summary: The demon from the school has reared its ugly head again and needs to be taken down.



On the evening of May 5, the Heavens suddenly receive an influx of prayers from people in and around a certain town just outside of Tokyo. There seem to be a lot of people in the area that have suddenly stopped responding normally (or at all). The situation continues to spread as the night goes on until not only is the whole town suffering from this malady, but the neighboring towns are starting to become affected as well.

With so many gods and shinki on hand - including new ones that have just appeared - the Heavens have issued a request for any available gods and shinki to go investigate what might be happening down on the Near Shore. New gods and shinki will be given the low-down on what's happening, but not much more than that.

The situation will continue to expand until just a little before dawn, when the demon finally has enough power to revive.



Drained Humans

Many humans in the affected areas are walking around despondently. Oftentimes, they are just walking into things or getting hit by things. There have been a few car-related incidents as well. Anyone who was present for the high school incident will recognize these symptoms as something that was happening to people in the school. The glazed looks, the spiritless responses and reactions. So this should be fairly familiar to some.

No One's Safe

Unfortunately, being in the town will start to wear on anyone who is there. Gods and shinki alike will find themselves growing more despondent the longer they spend in the town. All of their energy will be slowly sapped from their bodies, and shinki in particular will feel almost like their existence is draining away.

Hellish Circle

There is a large park in the center of the town. Drawn all around this park is a magic circle, large enough to encompass the whole park. There are candles around the edges of the circle, and in the center there is a cup filled with blood covered by a mask with a swirling eye pattern on it. Stepping into this circle will not only make you extremely tired and suddenly drained, but it will also bring bat-like ayakashi bearing down on you.

The Demon

The Demon itself rears its ugly head just a little before dawn, springing out from the center of the magic circle and looking right pleased with itself. It stands about 5'8" tall, so it is largely unimposing, but there is an aura about it that makes it undeniable that it is powerful. The demon will gladly fight anyone who comes at it, though most he will just shove out of the way without a second thought.

Hey, c'mon! You can't just lay down in the middle of the street! You'll get hurt.

[If he doesn't move soon, she'll have to try dragging him. Too bad the guy Elise is trying to move to safety is well over twice her size. It's almost comical watching this tiny girl grab the guy's leg and start tugging.]

Unf! Just... move as far as the sidewalk or something...

Please?

[Yeah, this isn't happening.]


No One's Safe-

[Elise has been running around town all day, trying to save people from their own despondency. It makes sense that she's tired. But she's never been this tired before. And more than just physically tired, she feels.... drained. As if all the energy is fading away from her very soul....

Maybe she should rest. It's not like she's really doing any good by just running all over the place. The people she helped probably just wandered back into danger.

And there are already a ton of gods and shinki here to help out. They can handle this just fine. They don't need her. She leans with her back against a nearby storefront, and just lets the weight of her exhaustion pull her down. She'll just.... rest here awhile, watching the people go by.]

[Saïx has been watching her struggle with moving him since she commented on not laying in the middle of the street. He would have helped sooner, but he wanted to see if she could do it on her own, first. When she proved unable to, he steps out into the street and over to her.]

[She stops tugging for a moment to look up at the other shinki, a hopeful expression on her face.]

He won't move and he's way too heavy! I'll never get him off the street on my own.

[He looks at her, then at the guy again and shakes he head.]

No, you won't.

[Bending down, he picks up the guy, tossing him over his shoulder easily. He wasn't going to carry around some random guy bridal style, after all.]

Do you see any benches or large rocks nearby? I don't think the sidewalks are all that safe with how people are driving tonight.

Wow, you're so strong!

[Elise is easily impressed. And he had a good idea too. She trots after Saix, looking around for a likely bench.]

I don't see any benches... Would a statue count as a rock?

[It's made of stone at least...]

As long as it can act as a barrier between him and any potential cars driving off the road? Yes, it counts.

[Saïx sees the statue she was talking about and heads in its direction.]

No one's safe

Hey. Hey! Are you all right?

[Masaki had been going about, trying to make sure people don't walk into traffic or hurt themselves trying to cook or anything. She'd been running around, trying to make sure stoves were turned off, faucets were turned off-and while she wasn't comfortable going in and out of homes, she had to.

Otherwise, people might die. And seeing Elise slumping over like that, that rang some alarm bells in her head.

So she crouched, and tried to look into Elise's eyes.]

You just kinda slid down there. You feeling okay?

[The sound of a woman's voice pulls Elise out of the fog surrounding her mind. She blinks several times before the face in front of her comes into focus.]

Umm.....

[She rubs at her eyes.]

Go 'way.... I'm tired...

[Not just sleepy, but tired of doing anything. Because what's the point? Maybe she can just sit here and fade away...]

[shockshot]

[...gosh, it was like waking someone up in study hall wasn't it. Masaki huffed a little, and gave Elise a little shake, cheer in her voice.]

Not happening today! Come on you. We're going to get up, and get walking! I know a pillow has your name on it~

[Somewhere. Maybe. Who knows!]

What's your name? Do you live here? Are you part of a temple?

[She's quiet for a long time, trying to work up any motivation or energy to form a response. It's hard. Much harder than it should be. But she just feels so drained. Almost empty. Finally, she raises her eyes up to meet Masaki's.]

Elise. From.... from the temple of Helios.

[She doesn't move though. That's too far. Why not just stay here?]

[This is very worrisome. It's taking a long time for Elise to respond, and she has to wonder how long she's been here. Maybe she should try to carry her out.]

Helios...okay, that's good! That's a start. I'm Masaki Kurosaki, from the temple of Tezcatlipoca.

[She smiled, but it faded out due to concern. She was tired too but...]

Let's get you back to your temple. Do you remember where it is in town?

[Amane's been helping out with moving people out of the way. While looking for more people, she found Elise having a problem.]

Elise!

[Amane runs over towards them, reaching out to grab onto the man's other leg. Here, she'll help.]

[She pauses to wave to her friend before going back to tugging. Amane gets a grateful smile when she grabs the other leg.]

Thanks. I'm worried he'll get smushed if I just leave him here.

[It's not a busy street, but there will be cars.]

[Amane nods in understanding, as she take a quick glance around. The street isn't busy, and the direction they might pull him towards to doesn't have anything in their way.]

Yes... I've been worried about all the people near the streets in this strange situation.

[And other locations, but the streets is likely more dangerous because of the moving vehicles.]

Are you ready to move him?

Me too! Everyone is just wandering around in a daze. It's like they don't care about anything anymore.

[It's very worrying. What could cause something like this in so many people at once?]

I'm ready. On three, okay? One... two.... three!

[On three, she tugs with all her might. The guy is certainly too heavy to move on her own, but both of them together should be able to get him to the sidewalk at least.]

Something must be the cause for this. It couldn't just happen without a reason...

[At Elise's count, Amane pulls the guy with her. Until he's on the sidewalk, finally. He would be safe for the time being.]

[Did tiny animals never learn? Hibari didn't know this was the girl he'd talked to before on the BBS, but it didn't really matter. It was pathetic seeing her struggle so hard like that. So he walked up, grabbing the man laying down in the middle of the street, and easily dragged him to the sidewalk like a sack of potatoes.]

It irritates me seeing little herbivores struggle at something they are unable to do.

[He doesn't even make eye contact after dumping the guy on the ground.]

[Hibari just gave the girl a look that said he was clearly not amused and just continued walking. Great, now she was following him? He only liked little animals following him when they weren't annoying.]

And I'm not crowding anyone. I just wanted to say thank you.

[He wasn't even deigning to answer the rat comment.]

You're crowding me. Get lost, herbivore. I don't need empty words.

[Sora feels drained as well. Like the life and light is being sucked from his body and the weight of the world is bearing down on his shoulders.

He wants to help. Desperately. But he feels like he needs to sit down, just for a minute or two.

Spotting Elise nearby and seeing her slumped he quickly makes his way over.]

Elise? Are you okay? Are you hurt?

[Concern flashes in his expression. Being Leo’s little sister (and thus his god-family) he wants her to be safe.]

[It takes her a moment to register that someone is talking, and another to work up the energy to respond.

And even that isn't much more than a whiny mumble.]

I'm so tiiired....

[Oh Elise... He feels the same way. Tired as can be. This is no good.

He slides down against the wall, sitting next to her.]

We gotta keep our eyes open, okay? As long as possible...

[Yawn.]

Why?

[She puts as much emphasis on the question as her soul deep exhaustion will allow. Because she sure can't think of any reason not to just curl up here and just.... rest.

She feels like she could sleep forever.]
