009 | Where Your Demons Hide
Who: Everyone!
What: Emergency demon fighting
When: Late May 5-Early May 6
Where: Just outside of Tokyo
Summary: The demon from the school has reared its ugly head again and needs to be taken down.

On the evening of May 5, the Heavens suddenly receive an influx of prayers from people in and around a certain town just outside of Tokyo. There seem to be a lot of people in the area that have suddenly stopped responding normally (or at all). The situation continues to spread as the night goes on until not only is the whole town suffering from this malady, but the neighboring towns are starting to become affected as well.
With so many gods and shinki on hand - including new ones that have just appeared - the Heavens have issued a request for any available gods and shinki to go investigate what might be happening down on the Near Shore. New gods and shinki will be given the low-down on what's happening, but not much more than that.
The situation will continue to expand until just a little before dawn, when the demon finally has enough power to revive.

Drained Humans
Many humans in the affected areas are walking around despondently. Oftentimes, they are just walking into things or getting hit by things. There have been a few car-related incidents as well. Anyone who was present for the high school incident will recognize these symptoms as something that was happening to people in the school. The glazed looks, the spiritless responses and reactions. So this should be fairly familiar to some.
No One's Safe
Unfortunately, being in the town will start to wear on anyone who is there. Gods and shinki alike will find themselves growing more despondent the longer they spend in the town. All of their energy will be slowly sapped from their bodies, and shinki in particular will feel almost like their existence is draining away.
Hellish Circle
There is a large park in the center of the town. Drawn all around this park is a magic circle, large enough to encompass the whole park. There are candles around the edges of the circle, and in the center there is a cup filled with blood covered by a mask with a swirling eye pattern on it. Stepping into this circle will not only make you extremely tired and suddenly drained, but it will also bring bat-like ayakashi bearing down on you.
The Demon
The Demon itself rears its ugly head just a little before dawn, springing out from the center of the magic circle and looking right pleased with itself. It stands about 5'8" tall, so it is largely unimposing, but there is an aura about it that makes it undeniable that it is powerful. The demon will gladly fight anyone who comes at it, though most he will just shove out of the way without a second thought.

In Summary:
- Help the drained people
- Try not to get drained yourself
- Be careful about being corrupted
- Fight the demon
- Have fun~
Drained Humans
Neither of these things happen. Instead, as she cringes and squeezes her eyes shut, she hears the horrific sound of metal crunching and glass shattering upon impact. It's a long moment between that and hearing a woman's voice asking if she's alright.]
H-... Huh?
[She hesitantly opens her eyes, still clutching her hands tightly to her chest and seeming unusually small and meek for a girl of her height. She was not prepared to see what looks like a girl that stopped a bus with her hand. Her heart jumps as she looks into Yamato's eyes and realizes this actually happened. She nearly died. ... Again.]
A-Am I...? Um... yeah...
[She's not alright. After winding up in this place with no memories, she was already in a fragile state to begin with. Then that happened and, well... she's really shaken up.]
no subject
She steps forward quietly towards her, reaching out to her, a hand going to her shoulder... and then pulls her into a comforting embrace. She may not understand what's fully going on within the girl's mind, but she can understand that almost being run over a bus is a scary experience. ] It is okay, it is okay. [ She speaks gently, referring that it's okay to be shaken. ] This was a jarring experience, but you are safe now.
[ Yamato is sorry she couldn't have spared the girl from being shaken in another way, maybe she should have been faster and caught the bus further away. But those feelings of guilt are for another time. ] Take a deep breath.
no subject
[She's still tense for a second, surprised by the tenderness and comfort of Yamato's embrace. Slowly, the reassurance gets through and she starts to relax into it. It's okay... it is okay. It's over, and she's still in one piece.]
Right...
... Thank you.
[She might be clinging back to Yamato just a bit now, as she follows instruction and takes a deep breath. She doesn't even know if she can die again, was it even worth panicking so much? But it only makes sense to be terrified of an oncoming bus, especially in a strange place where you're just trying to figure out what's going on. Yamato's unusual strength or whatever it was isn't even in the top five trains of thought racing through her head as she steadily begins to calm down more.]
no subject
[ A pause, and then she continues, her tone firmer. ] Yet we must continue our duty. Whether god or shinki, I believe we have been brought here for a reason. It may be confusing and difficult now, but you will undoubtedly continue to grow, as well as help more people. [ That's a very shoujo-esque speech she's giving, but Yamato means it sincerely. She believes in this young woman. It's natural to be frightened by an oncoming bus, anyone would be. ] Your strength may not be in stopping buses, but it is most certainly elsewhere.
no subject
That sure is a shoujo duty speech too, but you know what? Natsuru's right there with her the whole way. She even gives a quiet, and still a bit nervous, chuckle at the part about stopping buses.]
I don't think I can do anything that amazing! So far, I can just do a little magic.
[She pauses, as she considers something.]
Are you a shinki too? Or one of the gods?
[Yamato made quite an impression just now, both in her strength and gentle comforting. Natsuru wouldn't be surprised if she turned out to be a god.]
