009 | Where Your Demons Hide

What: Emergency demon fighting
When: Late May 5-Early May 6
Where: Just outside of Tokyo
Summary: The demon from the school has reared its ugly head again and needs to be taken down.



On the evening of May 5, the Heavens suddenly receive an influx of prayers from people in and around a certain town just outside of Tokyo. There seem to be a lot of people in the area that have suddenly stopped responding normally (or at all). The situation continues to spread as the night goes on until not only is the whole town suffering from this malady, but the neighboring towns are starting to become affected as well.

With so many gods and shinki on hand - including new ones that have just appeared - the Heavens have issued a request for any available gods and shinki to go investigate what might be happening down on the Near Shore. New gods and shinki will be given the low-down on what's happening, but not much more than that.

The situation will continue to expand until just a little before dawn, when the demon finally has enough power to revive.



Drained Humans

Many humans in the affected areas are walking around despondently. Oftentimes, they are just walking into things or getting hit by things. There have been a few car-related incidents as well. Anyone who was present for the high school incident will recognize these symptoms as something that was happening to people in the school. The glazed looks, the spiritless responses and reactions. So this should be fairly familiar to some.

No One's Safe

Unfortunately, being in the town will start to wear on anyone who is there. Gods and shinki alike will find themselves growing more despondent the longer they spend in the town. All of their energy will be slowly sapped from their bodies, and shinki in particular will feel almost like their existence is draining away.

Hellish Circle

There is a large park in the center of the town. Drawn all around this park is a magic circle, large enough to encompass the whole park. There are candles around the edges of the circle, and in the center there is a cup filled with blood covered by a mask with a swirling eye pattern on it. Stepping into this circle will not only make you extremely tired and suddenly drained, but it will also bring bat-like ayakashi bearing down on you.

The Demon

The Demon itself rears its ugly head just a little before dawn, springing out from the center of the magic circle and looking right pleased with itself. It stands about 5'8" tall, so it is largely unimposing, but there is an aura about it that makes it undeniable that it is powerful. The demon will gladly fight anyone who comes at it, though most he will just shove out of the way without a second thought.

• Try not to get drained yourself
• Be careful about being corrupted
• Fight the demon
• Have fun~

What? [ He sounds confused. ] Why would they think that?

I- [That's a good question, why would they think that? Kuwabara clearly picked up that Donut was a guy, why wouldn't anyone else?] Well, okay, I dunno about that, but why are you so insistent that you're not wearing pink? You've got a magazine there, why don't you show me what you think pink is.

[and with that, he sits down in front of Donut and his magazine]

After Tex blew me up, Command gave me my own colored armor and considering I'm on red team, they put me in lightish red armor.

[ Look, it makes total sense in his head.

And he'll start flipping through the magazine as soon as he sits down and after a few turns he suddenly gasps exclaiming excited: ]

They have Glow Job here too?! I didn't think this planet would have it! Do you think they make deliveries to the After Life?!

[Most of that, Kuwabara didn't quite understand. Who was Tex? But he got the most important part of that explanation, which was Red Team = Light Red.] Okay, that's pretty reasonable, not gonna lie, but I'm pretty sure pink and lightish red are the same thing. Like uh, what's the word....

Synnamins? [Close enough, anyway]

[He jerks back in surprise at Donut's exclamation, then leans in again to see what he's pointing at] I dunno, I just got here, but what kinda name is Glow Job? Does it make your skin glow in the dark or something?

[glazedonutholes]

Not in the dark. [ He smiles fondly beneath the helmet. ] You need glow paint for that.

It's the best thing out there for making your skin look radiant in the sun. My Mom's bought it for me on account that I started using up the olive oil in the house. You know, pressed olives are great an all but it was really hard to get off, and definitely too much shine. But this! [ He points to the picture. ] Is awesome! I even got Sarge to let me import it along with my hand creams!

Olive oil on your face? That sounds kinda gross, not gonna lie. [Make-up stuff isn't really his thing, but hey, Pinky's looking happier already, so he's just gonna go with it as best he can] That stuff definitely looks better, I don't think I'd be okay with putting oil on my skin like that.

[ He puts a hand behind his head in a subconscious gesture. ]

I tried some pretty weird things on the farm. But then, I was pretty new to it all. I've learned since then, and I'm a lot better at picking out face products now thanks to all the stuff out there.

Oh! [ He sounds excited. ] You should totally try it!

I bet you'd look super handsome with some Glow Job on your face. You're skin will look radiant~

What? No, I don't- [he jolts way back, eyes wide. HIm? Putting girly stuff like that on his face?!]

[...Well, maybe...]

You really think I'd look handsome? [He leans forward, squinting his eyes and cupping his chin. It might be worth it, if it made girls like him. It's not like anyone had to know, right?]

Sure!

A strapping young guy like you with radiant skin. It's the perfect recipe for masculine beauty, don't you think?

I dunno, I never thought about it. [He was pretty sure he was more concerned with fighting people when he was alive. That, and girls] I mean, I know girls like muscles and all that, and I try really hard to be a gentleman, I think, but all beauty stuff has always kinda been mostly for girls.

[ He quickly flips through the magazine, pointing out the ad on the page. ]

See! It has a skull and everything!

Oh, hey, it does have skulls on it! [Kuwabara perks up a little leaning closer to get a better look at products.] I don't shave yet, but that could totally be something I would use.

[ He's utterly pleased to hear that. ]

Man, am I glad to hear you say that. Back at Blood Gulch none of the guys ever gave them a chance.

Hey! [ He quickly turns to look at him, excitement in his voice.] You wanna buy something together, we can split the shipping cost~

What do you say?

Well, it's got skulls on it. [Duh] And girls like guys who take care of themselves, don't they? So I don't see what the big deal is.

[He's super secure about who he is as a man, after all!]

Well, uh, I mean, I would but, uh... [he sits back, and stuffs his hands into his pockets, pulling them inside-out to show just how empty they were] I ain't got no money.

So, what do you want? I'd suggest going with the men's body wash, shampoo and conditioner. Oh! And you can't forget the cologne!

[Being a shinki means you're pretty much entirely reliant on your god, sad faces. Granted, Kurama would probably approve of all this, but he really hated the thought of asking him for money.]

[Hell, he felt bad about letting Donut just pay for stuff for him too. A man's gotta be self-sufficient, right?]

I mean, that all sounds really great and all, but I don't think I could let you do that. We just met and we haven't even exchanged names yet, I would hate to impose on you like that. Maybe if there was something I could do for you in return? I'm not all that smart, but- [he straightens up all the way and flexes his arm, showing off his biceps] I'm pretty dang strong!

[ A turn of his head. Donut had two Mom's so the idea of what a man's gotta be like is entirely lost on him. Though, he does know people like Sarge don't like owing favors so he's learned to get around that pesky little problem by making it seem that they weren't favors at all but a fair trade. ]

Uh. Well... [ He touches his chin. ] I am looking for my Shinki. They're really hard to find and I don't really know this place all that well.

[Kuwabara was mostly raised by his sister, he mostly shaped his idea of what a man's like from comic books and movies, to be honest. He's done pretty good for himself, he thinks, but there's some bugs to work out.]

[Fair exchange is definitely something he's willing to work with]Oh, I'm from this area! Some stuff's been moved around, but I mostly know where stuff is! I can help! Do you know anything about them?

[ He claps his hand. ]

Let's see. Well, he's tall. Has the raddest looking purple bandanna over his head. Oh! And he's got the prettiest elf ears and superb make-up! His eyes shadow is a cool-looking shade of red and his lipstick is a smooth lavender. I bet someone spends loads of time in front of mirror every morning~

Oh! And he tends to wear this awesome blue bathrobe.

[There's a moment where Kuwabara just stares blankly at Donut because. What the heck kind of description was that? But if that's what the guy looks like...]

If he looks like that, he probably stands out in a crowd, so he shouldn't be too hard to find, right? Where have you looked so far?

[And there's just one little thing that's bugging him. He's not quite sure what it is, but...]

[Oh wait, no, he's got it.]

[He arches an eyebrow, tilting his head questioningly at Donut] By bathrobe, you don't mean a Yakuta or a Kimono, do you?

Uhhhh. [ A tilt of his head. ] What's a Kimono?
