What: Emergency demon fighting
When: Late May 5-Early May 6
Where: Just outside of Tokyo
Summary: The demon from the school has reared its ugly head again and needs to be taken down.

On the evening of May 5, the Heavens suddenly receive an influx of prayers from people in and around a certain town just outside of Tokyo. There seem to be a lot of people in the area that have suddenly stopped responding normally (or at all). The situation continues to spread as the night goes on until not only is the whole town suffering from this malady, but the neighboring towns are starting to become affected as well.

With so many gods and shinki on hand - including new ones that have just appeared - the Heavens have issued a request for any available gods and shinki to go investigate what might be happening down on the Near Shore. New gods and shinki will be given the low-down on what's happening, but not much more than that.

The situation will continue to expand until just a little before dawn, when the demon finally has enough power to revive.

Drained Humans

Many humans in the affected areas are walking around despondently. Oftentimes, they are just walking into things or getting hit by things. There have been a few car-related incidents as well. Anyone who was present for the high school incident will recognize these symptoms as something that was happening to people in the school. The glazed looks, the spiritless responses and reactions. So this should be fairly familiar to some.

No One's Safe

Unfortunately, being in the town will start to wear on anyone who is there. Gods and shinki alike will find themselves growing more despondent the longer they spend in the town. All of their energy will be slowly sapped from their bodies, and shinki in particular will feel almost like their existence is draining away.

Hellish Circle

There is a large park in the center of the town. Drawn all around this park is a magic circle, large enough to encompass the whole park. There are candles around the edges of the circle, and in the center there is a cup filled with blood covered by a mask with a swirling eye pattern on it. Stepping into this circle will not only make you extremely tired and suddenly drained, but it will also bring bat-like ayakashi bearing down on you.

The Demon

The Demon itself rears its ugly head just a little before dawn, springing out from the center of the magic circle and looking right pleased with itself. It stands about 5'8" tall, so it is largely unimposing, but there is an aura about it that makes it undeniable that it is powerful. The demon will gladly fight anyone who comes at it, though most he will just shove out of the way without a second thought.

[Sora rolls his shoulders and has to resist the urge to yawn. It's strange because it doesn't feel like normal sleepiness.]

What the heck could be draining energy from all the humans and us? That's pretty powerful. Maybe it's an ayakashi?

[Gosh this is the school all over again, isn't it.]

I'm about the same as you from the looks of it. Yuto, you look bushed.

I don't know. But it's definitely way more powerful that the one at the school.

[But since they're all so drained out of energy, will they even be able to fight the ayakashi once they find it?

Yuto shrugs weakly in response, trying to show that exhaustion doesn't bother him so much.]

I am tired, but like I said before - I'll be fine. We should hurry up and find that ayakashi or whatever it is before things get any worse.

[He fold his arms across his chest.]

I'm worried about everyone here.

[He wishes that cure magic could give back energy. Unfortunately his spells don't work that way so they're hooped.]

Same. If these people wander off too much they might end up getting hurt. Let's keep an eye on them!

[Sora sighs and furrows his eyebrows in worry. Since Yuto isn't his shinki they couldn't do much with battling ayakahsi but if they run into something Sora is more than capable of keeping it help back with his keyblade.

He glances around and he notices that there is a small boy who is walking along the shoreline of a nearby stream that cuts through the town. Alarm flashes on his face. The kid is walking right towards the moving waters.]

Hey! Hey, don't go in the water!

[No response.]

Yuto, we gotta grab that kid!

[Yuto nods with a frown as he glances around. If only there was something around that could point them to the ayakashi's location...

But his attention is quickly drawn again to Sora when the god yells towards someone. Yuto follows Sora's gaze and quickly notices the kid. Oh no.

Sora doesn't even have to say anything, since Yuto is already running towards the child as fast as he can (and now it should be noted that Yuto is surprisingly fast at running), determined to catch the boy before he manages to go into the water.]

[Oh no is right! But wow, has Yuto always been this fast? Color Sora impressed. He'll comment later though as he follows Yuto at a sprint, still shouting at the kid to get away from the fast moving waters.]

Heyyy! Don't get any closer! We're coming, kiddo!

[The boy does look up but with an exhausted drained expression. Sora jumps the fence and starts sliding down the grass when the little boy suddenly loses his footing and...

Hopefully Yuto is a stretch faster at grabbing the kid.]

[Dodging any obstacles in his path, Yuto tries to get to the kid as fast as possible. Then he sees the boy losing his footing and curses in his mind. Will he be fast enough? With the last of his strength he dashes even faster and... in the very last second manages to grab the boy's arm.]

...That was... close...

[He mutters tried but relieved, as he's pulling the kid away from water. Only once that's done, Yuto collapses to his knees and breathes heavily.]

[Thank goodness for Yuto grabbing the kid because Sora is just a little less lucky. In his haste to help he slips on the grass and slides the last little bit down the bank, frantically grabbing at the ground.]

Whoa!!

[And into the drink he goes with a splash. Sputtering Sora emerges and grabs onto the bank of the river, heaving and grinning.]

...You okay?

[Oh man.

Yuto pushes himself up and quickly gets to Sora, to help him get out of the water.]

I'll be fine. [He's obviously exhausted, but he'll manage.] ...What about you? [There's worry in his eyes.] Are you alright?

[Sora takes Yuto’s hand gratefully and pulls himself out of the water. Drenching wet as a dog but he’s smiling.]

Yeah. Thanks, guess I’m a whole lot more tired than I thought. We should get this kid to a safe spot.

[Gods can’t get colds, right?]

[Even if gods can't get colds, Yuto still gives Sora a concerned look. Then he removes his cape and wraps it around the god.]

I'll get the kid to a safer place and you should go back home and change into dry clothes.

...Thanks.

[Sora feels a little embarrassed but he gives Yuto a grateful smile. He's thankful. It's cold getting out of that river!]

I'll come with you to get him to a safe spot. Then you should get some rest too, okay?

[Yuto hesitates a moment.]

...Fine, you can come, but I can't allow myself to rest. Not just yet.

[He's too worried about people here, about the ayakashi that is probably lurking around. He just can't rest.]

[Sora reaches out take Yuto's arm and stall him.]

I know you don't want too, but getting tired will only makes things worse and you won't be able to help anyone if you get sick or hurt. We can't fight without our shinki and gods here, but there is other people helping. Don't wear yourself out!

[When Sora grabs him by the arm it surprises Yuto. He doesn't even have any energy left to argue though and he knows that Sora is right anyway, so after a moment his shoulders drop and he gives in.]

...Alright. [He says that reluctantly.] I'll rest for a bit, then I'll go back here.

[For a bit probably means for a few minutes or so.]

Okay, that's fair. As long as you don't wear yourself ragged.

[Sora smiles and lets go of Yuto in favor of picking up the small child. The kid garbles something and whines but clings to Sora weakly and Sora takes a second to comfort him.]

Hey, it's okay, we're gonna get you outta here.

[He points down the road.]

There's a shrine nearby we can probably bring him. There might be some others there to take him too.
