009 | Where Your Demons Hide
Who: Everyone!
What: Emergency demon fighting
When: Late May 5-Early May 6
Where: Just outside of Tokyo
Summary: The demon from the school has reared its ugly head again and needs to be taken down.

On the evening of May 5, the Heavens suddenly receive an influx of prayers from people in and around a certain town just outside of Tokyo. There seem to be a lot of people in the area that have suddenly stopped responding normally (or at all). The situation continues to spread as the night goes on until not only is the whole town suffering from this malady, but the neighboring towns are starting to become affected as well.
With so many gods and shinki on hand - including new ones that have just appeared - the Heavens have issued a request for any available gods and shinki to go investigate what might be happening down on the Near Shore. New gods and shinki will be given the low-down on what's happening, but not much more than that.
The situation will continue to expand until just a little before dawn, when the demon finally has enough power to revive.

Drained Humans
Many humans in the affected areas are walking around despondently. Oftentimes, they are just walking into things or getting hit by things. There have been a few car-related incidents as well. Anyone who was present for the high school incident will recognize these symptoms as something that was happening to people in the school. The glazed looks, the spiritless responses and reactions. So this should be fairly familiar to some.
No One's Safe
Unfortunately, being in the town will start to wear on anyone who is there. Gods and shinki alike will find themselves growing more despondent the longer they spend in the town. All of their energy will be slowly sapped from their bodies, and shinki in particular will feel almost like their existence is draining away.
Hellish Circle
There is a large park in the center of the town. Drawn all around this park is a magic circle, large enough to encompass the whole park. There are candles around the edges of the circle, and in the center there is a cup filled with blood covered by a mask with a swirling eye pattern on it. Stepping into this circle will not only make you extremely tired and suddenly drained, but it will also bring bat-like ayakashi bearing down on you.
The Demon
The Demon itself rears its ugly head just a little before dawn, springing out from the center of the magic circle and looking right pleased with itself. It stands about 5'8" tall, so it is largely unimposing, but there is an aura about it that makes it undeniable that it is powerful. The demon will gladly fight anyone who comes at it, though most he will just shove out of the way without a second thought.

In Summary:
- Help the drained people
- Try not to get drained yourself
- Be careful about being corrupted
- Fight the demon
- Have fun~

Oh, wow! I didn't know you were so strong!
[It's a minor thing perhaps, but still. It's something she didn't know before. As for the route...she shook his head.]
He was wandering around in a daze. That was why he kind of just...went onto the street, I think.
Maybe that way?
[She points. The guy did seem to be going south until he started to act like a drunken bumble bee...]

[Pedestrian headed for busy intersection? Zack has for the most part abandoned the gentle steering approach in favor of the pick-up-and-haul-off method, especially when speed is of the essence in saving someone's life.
But for the current man, Zack does suppose that it truly doesn't matter. All of these people who've been wandering around aimlessly don't seem to have a true destination in mind. South is good enough in his eyes — south, and away from the road.]
That works for me. I think there's a park that way, we can set him down on a bench. [Hopefully the guy will stay where they put him!]
no subject
[She smiles a little. Him, lifting people out of harms way? She could see it, completely. But seeing that his current carry on didn't seem to be going anywhere...it was as good as any.]
Yeah, good idea. Maybe the fresh air will help him?
[Or, she hopes so! Maybe he'll even fall asleep. But while she's at it...she gives Zack a gentle touch on the arm.]
I'm sure nothing will happen, but just in case something does...I'll protect you.
no subject
[At the very least, putting him in a park will get him away from the open road and hopefully prevent any more walking in front of traffic. Or if he's one of these that just wants to lay down aimlessly, perhaps they could just put him in the grass where nothing could hurt him. Zack adjusts his hold on the guy (not that he's responsive to comfort or anything) and looks down at his companion when she touches his arm. The smile that he gives is truly delighted.]
That's pretty generous of you! [Zack does have his hands full, after all.] And we've barely even met. I'm known as Hephaestus here, but you can call me Zack.
no subject
[Or so she hopes. Maybe the fumes are making it worse for the guy, for all he seems...rather listless in Zack's grip. And it's away from traffic too. All the better. She dreads what would happen if he did it again, and there was no one to push him out of the way.]
I think it's the least I can do. After all, you've got your hands full.
[She smiles up at him.]
I'll call you Zack then! I'm Masaki. I'm a shinki to the god Tezcatlipoca.
[She chuckles a little.]
But I think he likes it better when he's called Dio.
no subject
I don't mind having my hands full. It's important to help this guy! [Though really, Zack would have to put the man down to defend from any sort of attack, so it's probably best that Masaki has offered her own protection. He wonders what sort of form that will take, if her barrier will be similar to Sephiroth's.]
Hmmm, his name isn't familiar so I must not have met him yet. I'll keep my eye out for him though. [He pauses.] I don't know if the shinki is a reflection of the god or not, but if so then judging from you, he's got to be a pretty nice guy!
no subject
Mm! That's important.
[She has no idea how to make a borderline. But she'd do what she could to give him time to escape. She's done some strange things today.]
Maybe he's new-and I think he's pretty nice! [She warms, her smile widens.]
So I guess that means your shinki is really nice too! They're lucky to have you.
no subject
[It's an uneventful walk, thankfully — a nice change from all the excitement. Zack is glad that nothing pops up because it's nice to have a break from diving in front of cars to save people. All this excitement is crazy! He's not sure he even needs to sleep as a god anymore, but after today he definitely wants a good rest.]
Or we just haven't run into each other. But I'll definitely keep my eye out for him, I love meeting new friends.
[Meeting people with a positive outlook and attitude is a nice change. Because of course the bad thing about suggesting that a shinki reflects his god and vice versa is that Zack's own shinki is a complete ass. Zack's even wondered if Sephiroth has been going out of his way to be difficult on purpose. But he's certainly not going to tell Masaki that!]
He's a little rough around the edges sometimes. But I think the two of us can do some good together.
no subject
I'll let him know that you'd like to meet him.
[Not that she knows that Dio is...a little rough around the edges himself, more or less. Sephiroth or Dio, who's the harder one to deal with, that's going to be the question. Zack might be the one with the bigger burden, honestly.
She'll make him cookies when she finds out.]
But...I'm sure you and your shinki can do so much good. I'm not sure what good I can do with Dio-but maybe I've been a little selfish. I've been thinking of the smaller picture.
That if I keep him safe and happy, that'd be enough.
no subject
[They'll probably bond over having hard-to-deal-with partners, to be honest. Have weekly chats over coffee just to have someone sane to talk to.
Zack settles the man onto a bench, where he just slumps over. Well, that's better than wandering into traffic at least. Really if he just spends the rest of the night here, that's probably a good thing. Straightening up, Zack rolls his shoulders and considers his companion's words carefully.]
Hey, you can't overlook safety and happiness, you know? I mean, if we can't take care of our own selves and our own responsibilities, are we ever going to be able to take care of anything else? And to me you seem to have a big heart, so I have faith in you.
no subject
[They would, over coffee, and maybe some comfort food depending on what happened. Food, a sane person to talk to, both good things.
Zack puts the man on the bench, and Masaki takes a moment to check on him, see that he's uninjured. If he is, it's hard to tell; it looks as if he's about to fall asleep. Which is all right.
Masaki straightens up, and takes in a small breath, watching her companion. He's right. If they don't take care of themselves, they can't do anything. Still, she blushed, pleased, and rubbed her arm briefly.]
Thanks. That's a really nice thing to say to someone you just met.
[Her smile widened.]
But...you know, I hope all of us can do a lot of good. It doesn't have to be with the big world shaking things. Just...with things like this- [She gestured to the man on the bench,] it means so much. Don't you think?
