010 | Relief and Rescue

Who: Everyone!
What: Cleanup and moral support
When: All day May 16
Where: Just outside of Tokyo
Summary: It's time to get rid of the mess that that demon made!

The attack by the demon recently has left the surrounding area in a very sorry state. Not only are some people still hospitalized or slowly recovering from the affects of the draining of their life force, but a lot of nasty accidents happened during the time that people were walking around like they were dead to the world. It's been attributed to an odd natural disaster, and many think it may have been an illness that caused it.

The Heavens have decided to send any available gods and shinki down to help out in the relief efforts. If they try hard enough, they should be easily seen for the times when they are helping people out, so it shouldn't be a problem.

On top of that, some new arrivals have suddenly appeared. Amaterasu has left them little handwritten notes pinned to their shirts:

'These people need your help! I'm sorry to throw you into things like this, but please do what you can.

☼ Amaterasu ☼'

And yes, she has doodled little suns next to her name.

Care

There are a lot of people who were left hurt because of the incident with the demon and they are still trying to recover from it. From broken bones all the way to mental trauma, these people have seen a lot of crazy stuff and they aren't feeling so hot. Any kind of care is viable, but you might also want to just be an errand-runner in order to help the qualified people who are already doing a pretty good job of helping these poor folks out.

Food

A fair number of homes and stores managed to get destroyed amidst everything going on with the demon, so there's a lot of work for the neighborhood to do in helping them out. Whether by helping to rebuild what has been broken or by just handing out some free food to the people who need it. Of course, you might also take some food for yourself. Hopefully you're not a horrible enough person to just steal from the homeless~

Literal Cleaning

And here's where the fun comes in. The buildings that need to be rebuilt and the streets that need to be cleaned up are all under works and you can help in any way you deem worthy. You might carry loads or actually put forth the effort to help rebuild some lost homes, it's up to you. Of course, if you set about helping out in this way, you might notice little fairy-like spirits flitting around each of the Near Shore residents who are working hard to help each other out. The little spirits shine brightly and seem to shy away if approached, but they titter happily anytime the person they're following does something nice.

Banquet

After the day is done, the Heavens have a special treat set up for anyone who helped out - a large banquet in the Meeting Hall back on the Far Shore. Just like any other banquet, there is food and booze of every kind available. But also, the small tittering bright white spirits are in attendance, following around any Far Shore resident who helped out today. You might find yourself with a new friend or two who won't leave you alone, who keep giggling anytime you're kind, and who don't seem to be able to talk and only exude delight and good feelings.

In Summary:
  • Help out the people affected by the demon
  • Give out food to people who need it
  • Clean up the messes
  • Eat some good food, drink some good booze
  • Have fun~

naaaah, still shady.

Handling fee... You know, it'd be a longer trip anyway if I took it from here back to the Far Shore.

[Not buying it. (Yet. But he's really hungry and that fruit looks really good ok ok.)]
diehardreaper: ([??] ☼ Suckers punks busters)

he's a perfectly honest respectable businessreaper what're you on

[personal profile] diehardreaper 2016-11-17 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Prolly to you, but if these fellows needed a bit of nosh while on the street then it wouldn't be that much of a trip, eh?

[ Nudging a peach over. ]

On the house, mate. If you like what I've got then take a load for you and yours.
returnedfromtheline: (/ thanks for the food)

Well... that sweetens the deal.

[personal profile] returnedfromtheline 2016-11-17 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yukine really has to pay attention to what this guy is trying to say with his accent and slang...]

The fellows here probably don't have two yen to rub together now, let alone two hundred yen coins. But yah, it's not that far for them.

[He looks at the peach. Then shrugs with a sigh and a small smile. (Maybe just a little apologetic. If they'd seriously needed the money he would have paid, but the shinki had said 'free'.)]

Thanks.

[And he takes a bite.
... It probably shows on his face: "Damn, that's really good." And it being way too early in the season for peaches helps. He hasn't had this taste in a long while.]

's really good. [He says around his second mouthful of peach.]
diehardreaper: ([!!] | And the party won't stop)

see? Totally amiable.

[personal profile] diehardreaper 2016-11-17 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[ And he just kind of brightens up at that. Always good to hear a little bit of praise for something that's from your estate. ]

M'glad you think so! Didn't think they'd come about looking this nice but looks like I was wrong.

[ There's a faint hum to that bit about money though. ]

I'd thought it was a bit of a bargain myself. Fruit at the grocer's would break you. D'you think I should go for a "pay what you can" bit instead?
returnedfromtheline: (| thinking about other things)

You amiable fiend. But he'll thank you later.

[personal profile] returnedfromtheline 2016-11-18 11:15 am (UTC)(link)
Naw, it's great. Time really is different on the Far Shore, eh.

[Blink and you’ll miss it- that peach is going-going-gone. Yukine then picks gingerly at his pocket with juicy fingertips to withdraw a tissue.]

It is a deal, but if you really aren’t worried about the money, what’s wrong with ‘free’? Anyway, yah, ‘pay what you can’ might draw more people.

[Wiping the juice off his fingers he spits the pit into the tissue and balls it up while glancing around.]

Got a garbage?
diehardreaper: ([...] | Till the day you arrived)

He looks forward to it~

[personal profile] diehardreaper 2016-11-18 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Ages different'n the last time I was out and about in the world!

[ Look, when you come from the 1800s and are cooped up in a school for a year, the modern world can still take you by surprise from time to time.

But he does listen to that suggestion before reaching beside him to hold up a small bin. ]

Right here, mate. Yeah, the 'pay what you can' option would be good for those who don't have a couple of yen to rub together. And for that...

[ He's just going to slide a small box of peaches over. ]

Here you go.
returnedfromtheline: (/ tsun-dere)

[personal profile] returnedfromtheline 2016-11-18 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh, he's pretty prepared. It's good to get rid of that.

Yukine turns that first part over in his head- ages different? ...? Oh, maybe he's like Hijikata-sama. From a different time.

But by the time that answer crosses his mind, Yukine is being offered free peaches. (His eyes might be shining just a little at that.) And seeing as it's being given in return for his advice, he doesn't feel bad taking it. He'll share it with Hiyori and Daikoku-san and Kofuku-sama ... and maybe Yato. Maybe.]

Thanks. I mean, thank you...

[Annnnd he doesn't know this god's name. He has the feeling it was in that post this morning, but he can't remember. Filling that awkward pause he picks up the box, his eyes going over the other fruits on offer. Everything looks so good...
The box gets set down again as Yukine digs through his pockets. All he comes up with as far as money is a five yen coin. (Geh. Of course...) But he holds it out.]

Hey... it's really not much, but could I take a little thing of blueberries too for this? And I promise to tell everyone about your orchard.
diehardreaper: ([heh] ☼ And any coward who)

[personal profile] diehardreaper 2016-11-19 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
'Preciate the advertising, mate. We'll take what we can.

[ Five yen? That's not bad at all. With that, he's fumbled about, digging around for a proper set of blueberries to hand over. Apparently, he had more fruit than he thought so he's more than happy to hand a box over. ]

Did say 'pay what you can', eh? Pleasure's all mine.

[ He does stand, steadying himself before offering out his one hand. ]

Ronald, by the way. Ronald Knox formerly of London's Grim Reaper Dispatch. You are...?
returnedfromtheline: (A; and she's cute?!)

<- 'trying hard not to stare' face

[personal profile] returnedfromtheline 2016-11-19 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[As the man shifts Yukine blinks in surprise, then tries really hard to not stare at the empty sleeve of his jacket. It wasn't obvious before but- he's missing his arm?

He reaches out his hand too for the handshake, but does another double-take at his introduction. Grim Reaper? ...As in, shinigami? Haaa... the new guys really are all kinds...

Yukine's hand might feel on the cold side as he returns the introduction,]

I'm Yukine, a shinki. Not one of the new ones. So if there's anything you have questions about here, let me know, um, Ronald-sama. [/confused by English names]
diehardreaper: ([...] | So hot out the box)

Such a polite boy...

[personal profile] diehardreaper 2016-11-19 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yukine then. Pleasure's all mine.

[ Gosh, really. Living up to the Yuki part of your name, Yukine? But he does give him a handshake before sitting back down. ]

No worries. M'not that new either. Been here since March, I have. Acclimated alright but there's always something different about being a god.

[ And resting that head on his hand. ]

How long've you been around? Unless you're a local? Heard there were a few milling about.

[personal profile] returnedfromtheline 2016-11-19 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[...crap what does 'acclimated' mean? But it doesn't seem like he has any problems.]

That's good...

I guess you'd call me a local then. Heaven asked me and the other hafuri shinki to help you guys out when you first arrived. ...And it kinda just hasn't stopped.

But at least it's gotten to the point where you new guys can mostly help each other out.
diehardreaper: ([!!] | And the party won't stop)

[personal profile] diehardreaper 2016-11-19 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Have a low thoughtful whistle for that. ]

Bit of responsibility on the shoulders of such a young thing. Fairly admirable if I do say so meself.

[ Tilting his head in a measure of curiosity though. ]

Bollocks though, innit? One day you're minding your own business then out of nowhere, these poor souls show up. Can't even imagine what that'd be like. Bully on you for keeping it together though! You're a stout lad, I'll give you that.
returnedfromtheline: (| perhaps something like this)

[personal profile] returnedfromtheline 2016-11-20 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Yukine stiffens for an instant - he is not young! - only to have the tension dissolve a second later. Admirable... thank you. He is working hard!

That next part though- what on earth language is he trying to speak? So he answers the part that he understood the best.]

Um, yah, it's been rough, ever since you new guys showed up. Everyone is really weird, so it's been kinda hard to know what to do.
diehardreaper: ([ch] Aim pull the trigger)

[personal profile] diehardreaper 2016-11-20 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
[ Listen kid, you're younger than he is. There's a curious little blink as he tilts his head slightly. ]

Weird, eh? Hopefully, we haven't been that much trouble for you'n yours. Couldn't even imagine how mad that'd be if you lot started showing up back home.
returnedfromtheline: (| feeling like the adult here)

[personal profile] returnedfromtheline 2016-11-20 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Heh- I can't imagine either. [He's not good at English, for starters...]

Don't worry about it though. I think just about everyone is trying to do the best they can.
diehardreaper: ([...] | Wishes to open up)

[personal profile] diehardreaper 2016-11-20 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Man, just imagine what would happen if he landed in London... gosh. ]

M'certainly trying to keep me nose clean best I can... same with me shinki. He's a proper lad. Doubtless he'd be any trouble.

[ A beat. ]

Wager I haven't met your god before though...
returnedfromtheline: (A; 'clueless' would be you)

[personal profile] returnedfromtheline 2016-11-20 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yukine actually does look at Ronald-sama's nose before realizing that must be another figure of speech.]

Good to hear...

Heh, and that's a bet no one'd take. He's really not famous, and really good at evading hard work, so it's no wonder not a lot of people have met him.

He's a loser in a black jersey named Yato.
diehardreaper: ([...] | Wishes to open up)

[personal profile] diehardreaper 2016-11-22 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Can't blame the man. Specially if you aren't the sort who likes to push himself about.

[ But he's taking note of the name and description. ]

Yato then... should I send word his shinki's gone by without him if I do chance on the blighter?
returnedfromtheline: (> Hiyori the strict teacher)

[personal profile] returnedfromtheline 2016-11-22 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[Nah, you can go ahead and blame Yato for whatever you want.]

[Yukine perks up at the offer. (And smirks a little at the idea of a god being called a 'blighter'.)]

That'd be great, thanks.
diehardreaper: ([♥] | Ain't this at all)

[personal profile] diehardreaper 2016-11-23 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Will do then!

[ And a welcoming grin back. ]

If that'll be it then I'll prolly see you around, Yukine?
returnedfromtheline: (> the small bell)

[personal profile] returnedfromtheline 2016-11-23 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure. [And his smile finally seems a little more relaxed.] Yah, I'm sure I'll see you around. [Especially if this free fruit deal keeps going!]

Thanks again for the fruit. [And carefully balancing the two small boxes he goes on his way.]
