010 | Relief and Rescue
Who: Everyone!
What: Cleanup and moral support
When: All day May 16
Where: Just outside of Tokyo
Summary: It's time to get rid of the mess that that demon made!

The attack by the demon recently has left the surrounding area in a very sorry state. Not only are some people still hospitalized or slowly recovering from the affects of the draining of their life force, but a lot of nasty accidents happened during the time that people were walking around like they were dead to the world. It's been attributed to an odd natural disaster, and many think it may have been an illness that caused it.
The Heavens have decided to send any available gods and shinki down to help out in the relief efforts. If they try hard enough, they should be easily seen for the times when they are helping people out, so it shouldn't be a problem.
On top of that, some new arrivals have suddenly appeared. Amaterasu has left them little handwritten notes pinned to their shirts:
'These people need your help! I'm sorry to throw you into things like this, but please do what you can.
☼ Amaterasu ☼'
And yes, she has doodled little suns next to her name.

Care
There are a lot of people who were left hurt because of the incident with the demon and they are still trying to recover from it. From broken bones all the way to mental trauma, these people have seen a lot of crazy stuff and they aren't feeling so hot. Any kind of care is viable, but you might also want to just be an errand-runner in order to help the qualified people who are already doing a pretty good job of helping these poor folks out.
Food
A fair number of homes and stores managed to get destroyed amidst everything going on with the demon, so there's a lot of work for the neighborhood to do in helping them out. Whether by helping to rebuild what has been broken or by just handing out some free food to the people who need it. Of course, you might also take some food for yourself. Hopefully you're not a horrible enough person to just steal from the homeless~
Literal Cleaning
And here's where the fun comes in. The buildings that need to be rebuilt and the streets that need to be cleaned up are all under works and you can help in any way you deem worthy. You might carry loads or actually put forth the effort to help rebuild some lost homes, it's up to you. Of course, if you set about helping out in this way, you might notice little fairy-like spirits flitting around each of the Near Shore residents who are working hard to help each other out. The little spirits shine brightly and seem to shy away if approached, but they titter happily anytime the person they're following does something nice.
Banquet
After the day is done, the Heavens have a special treat set up for anyone who helped out - a large banquet in the Meeting Hall back on the Far Shore. Just like any other banquet, there is food and booze of every kind available. But also, the small tittering bright white spirits are in attendance, following around any Far Shore resident who helped out today. You might find yourself with a new friend or two who won't leave you alone, who keep giggling anytime you're kind, and who don't seem to be able to talk and only exude delight and good feelings.

B. hope this is alright!
I suppose I can. What do you need me to do? Or rather what would you suggest I do?
o/ totally just be prepared for extreme wariness
If this guy is anything like the other, his strength could be an asset, but Shun probably wouldn't be letting him near these people if he wasn't around to keep a damn close eye on him.]
Start with the materials. Having to move things back and forth for each tent is making them take twice as long, and most of the people strong enough to move a whole shelter's worth of supplies in one go is working on rebuilding homes.
[Shun points over to the still reasonably neat stacks of heavy poles and thick material, but won't move to them himself unless this guy does. He's not planning to turn his back on him anytime soon.]
that's the idea! :D If that's cool. I'm good with it!
He puts it back down as it seems the other won't be handing anything to him or shaking his hand. ]
Alright. It seems simple enough.
[ He brushes the guarded individual off a bit as he turns around. He's going to trust that the other won't try anything funny on him. After all, he's only been here for maybe an hour. Fighting isn't really something he's interested in. Once he reaches the heavy poles, he lifts them up casually and places them over his shoulders. He certainly doesn't like doing anything charitable but getting answers and learning more about everything requires some effort. At least for now, he'll play nice. ]
no subject
Since he seems to have the poles covered, Shun picks up the pile of material. It's dense and weighty and he's obviously having to exert more effort with it, but he doesn't seem to care much and merely nods towards a line of about ten pegged-out spaces.]
Split the pile between those. There should be at least enough left here to cover all of them.
[It isn't Shun's style to play nice, but his tone is still more detached and neutral than outright prickly.]
no subject
Despite being a bit stronger than usual, the way he talked was a bit softer, and he appears a much more delicate than the other individual. ]
Huh, like this?
[ He's not likely to have done repairs in the past, so he did show that he's slightly not knowledgeable in repairs. ]
Perhaps, you can show me what you mean.
no subject
Putting down his own pile for a moment to take the top layer off - because the whole thing is huge and unwieldy enough that taking a hand off to do it would be asking for trouble - Shun puts it down in front of the first pegged area, then takes the second layer off the pile and places it in front of the second pegged area.]
Like that. There should be certain amounts of different-sized poles there in your pile, so see how many you have of each and split them into groups as even as you can. They have everything they need in one place then, instead of having to drag things back and forth when most of them aren't in the best condition anyway. [At that comment, Shun points over his shoulder towards the group of humans working on another shelter, a few of them still bandaged or patched up from injuries they received in the attack.]
no subject
Another part of him is curious about another person with his face, who conveniently isn't around when he is at the moment. It makes the whole situation more strange. Ichiru can't put the idea of them being related out of the picture either. Even theories about doubles or doppelgangers were mostly tossed out the window for now. It doesn't seem to something like that. ]
I see... thank you.
[ He muses politely as he starts to emulate what is shown to him. ]
That is rather convenient. It cuts down the time that is wasted, I suppose.
no subject
[Shun steps back and watches as Ichiru makes the same motions to split up the resources. While he doesn't want to distract him from the work, it's still a little odd to watch someone so similar in appearance to that guy work like this. It's a world apart from the taunting and the bloodlust, and if he weren't so wary and someone hadn't mentioned on the later network post that the attacker had seemed nice the first she met him, he would've reconsidered his suspicions by now.
It could be a risk bringing it straight up, though, depending on how aware this guy is of it. If one or other of them is a shinki, there's all kinds of other problems presenting them with a near-identical looking person could cause.]
How long have you been here? [He can always lie, but maintaining a lie that hasn't been planned in advance gets harder the longer it goes.]
no subject
[ The boy mused as he gave a light laugh at the other's comments. He seemed like he was speaking straight to the point and nothing more. He's honestly rather curious about the stranger who seemed still guarded. It made sense though. It's not like he can do anything about being suspicious. He's not the attacker but he's hardly the innocent type.
He keeps doing his task in an orderly manner, organizing as he saw fit. ]
I'm not quite certain myself, but a few hours at most.
[ He replied casually as he was asked. ]
no subject
Moving on briefly to share out a few more of the covers on his pile, still watching the guy out of the corner of his eye, Shun turns more fully to look at him as he answers the question. No obvious tells, at least, and that's the kind of lie that'd be hard to maintain any longer than a first meeting.]
So you don't remember anything beforehand. [It's not a question, but the only way Shun figures he can be uncertain about his time of arrival is if he doesn't remember what he was doing before he came here.] Not that they do much to ease the transition, anyway, with what excuse for explanation only half of us get.
no subject
[ He does give the other a small laugh for it. Uptight only means it's harder to gather anything useful from him. Too bad, though. Maybe he'll just have a casual conversation for now. He really had no reason to hurt anyone he didn't know. ]
Nothing. I do have a letter signed by an "Amaterasu" forcing me to aide in today's services, for the lack of better words.
[ He'll gladly give him the letter too if he wants that as proof. ]
A rather poor way of explaining honestly.
no subject
That's normal, for her. Gods get a little more than that explained to them, but you'll still probably be learning most of your information off the people who've been here longer than you. And all of them think just as badly of that way of explanation.
Amaterasu isn't the sort who can come to explain things personally, but it'd be a hell of a lot better if she showed up in front of us more than once every few months.
[Even the previous time was about three weeks ago now, so that's hardly outstanding reliability.]
no subject
Huh how fortunate for them. It would be helpful if they shared the information.
[ Ichiru sets down the rest of the items that he was carrying in their respectful places as he turns back to the other. ]
I see. I suppose that means I'll have to gather more information on my own.
[ Somehow, that doesn't surprise him when the boy adds the small bit about Amaterasu. ]
That would be quite helpful. I want to see who this so-called Amaterasu is.
no subject
Whatever you're thinking, it's less information than that. We get a bare-bones outline of how things work and how to use the powers all gods have, and that's it. They probably expect gods to pass on the message to their shinki, so your god should explain as much as they can anyway.
[Not that getting his own information is a bad idea, because actively seeking out as much information as you can is about the only way to keep on top of things here, in Shun's experience.]
You might, eventually. The old gods seem to have figured out that when they may as well not exist except for occasional words in our eyes, we don't hold them as highly as they think we should.
no subject
[ He looks at the other as he continues the conversation. Honestly, this place is a bit too vague on information and he hates it. No one is being clear with him and even if he thinks he knows a little more, there's more that he doesn't know. How do people here even handle this? ]
That's convenient. So Gods hold more information than the Shinkis. What a system indeed.
[ He muses almost sarcastically. ]
I don't see why we have to hold such Gods to high standards.
no subject
[And honestly, Shun himself can't argue with either of those last two points, to the point his response is a faint, dry snort rather than any kind of argument.]
It's ridiculous, but it's one of their "traditions" they're not interested in changing. And most of the new gods who aren't full of themselves would say the same thing.
no subject
How does that work then? Do we simply pick a God or do they force themselves unto us?
[ He tilts his head as the other speaks those words. He doesn't seem affected by the dry snort. ]
It's rather helpful to have more Gods worth respecting.
no subject
You'll be assigned to one first, which is more like the Heavens forcing you onto each other. If your god is decent and you don't work well together anyway or something else happens, you can ask them to release you and search for another god to take you in. Others might force you to stay in their service.
[There's a touch of disgust in his tone at that, but he's heard of it happening before and he'd suspected there'd be gods like that from the very start, so it was never a surprise to him.]
One or two of the older gods are decent as well, but it's still a minority.
no subject
What a brash way to do things.
[ He states simply and leaves it at that. Of course there is no way he's willing to be forced to be someone's weapon but it sounds like he can't stop it. Also, this thought of negotiating with Gods in order to be released seems very troublesome to him. ]
I wonder if they ever will set a good example for the other gods with there manners?
no subject
That's not the word I'd use.
[As for manners, that's not really his concern, though he gets the impression that the term is standing in for something a bit more important here.]
I couldn't care less about "manners" if they start running this place competently, but I doubt we're going to get either of those things anytime soon.
no subject
What words would you use instead?
Doesn't seem like anyone will get what they want whether it's competence or not. I wonder if it they're just bored.
no subject
[It's pretty clear from his tone that he's thought about this sort of thing a lot, and he's certainly had the time to with how long he's been here. While he knows the higher-ups have had other things to deal with, they've also had months to do something about how arrivals are handled.]
They're overrun, more like. They're dealing with this on top of an uprising from another area, and it's clear they don't have experience with this kind of upheaval on all fronts.
no subject
I suppose I can disagree with those words. If it was that simple, we wouldn't all have this problem now would we?
[ Logically speaking, all of this would have been really smooth if it were to go the way they all wanted it. Unfortunately, that was obviously not the case. It did come off that way since Ichiru is listening seriously so he could learn more about people here in this new place. ]
Such as those who are in over their heads I assume. How troublesome for them but I can't say I feel bad for them.
no subject
[Not that he sounds particularly impressed by those old and longstanding rules. Things like that, in his experience, tend to backfire more often than they do anyone any good, and in this place's case it definitely looks like they've been backfiring. Even if some of the rules have grounds he hadn't known until very recently.
Turning his head slightly, Shun shrugs his shoulders a little at that observation.]
Feeling bad for them doesn't do them any good, even if some of them are worth the sentiment.
no subject
[ There's no real reason for him to argue the lather. He very much agrees with the statement in his own way. Rules and laws were meant to be broken. He knew that and it's not like he would be the law abiding citizen here. He's not going to be tied by laws even if he'll get reprimanded for it in the future. ]
One can only hope that they'll reconsider their actions. It's hard to tell who is worth the sentiment or not. I suppose I'll have to watch them closely.
