Summary: It's time to get rid of the mess that that demon made!



The attack by the demon recently has left the surrounding area in a very sorry state. Not only are some people still hospitalized or slowly recovering from the affects of the draining of their life force, but a lot of nasty accidents happened during the time that people were walking around like they were dead to the world. It's been attributed to an odd natural disaster, and many think it may have been an illness that caused it.

The Heavens have decided to send any available gods and shinki down to help out in the relief efforts. If they try hard enough, they should be easily seen for the times when they are helping people out, so it shouldn't be a problem.

On top of that, some new arrivals have suddenly appeared. Amaterasu has left them little handwritten notes pinned to their shirts:

'These people need your help! I'm sorry to throw you into things like this, but please do what you can.

☼ Amaterasu ☼'

And yes, she has doodled little suns next to her name.



Care

There are a lot of people who were left hurt because of the incident with the demon and they are still trying to recover from it. From broken bones all the way to mental trauma, these people have seen a lot of crazy stuff and they aren't feeling so hot. Any kind of care is viable, but you might also want to just be an errand-runner in order to help the qualified people who are already doing a pretty good job of helping these poor folks out.

Food

A fair number of homes and stores managed to get destroyed amidst everything going on with the demon, so there's a lot of work for the neighborhood to do in helping them out. Whether by helping to rebuild what has been broken or by just handing out some free food to the people who need it. Of course, you might also take some food for yourself. Hopefully you're not a horrible enough person to just steal from the homeless~

Literal Cleaning

And here's where the fun comes in. The buildings that need to be rebuilt and the streets that need to be cleaned up are all under works and you can help in any way you deem worthy. You might carry loads or actually put forth the effort to help rebuild some lost homes, it's up to you. Of course, if you set about helping out in this way, you might notice little fairy-like spirits flitting around each of the Near Shore residents who are working hard to help each other out. The little spirits shine brightly and seem to shy away if approached, but they titter happily anytime the person they're following does something nice.

Banquet

After the day is done, the Heavens have a special treat set up for anyone who helped out - a large banquet in the Meeting Hall back on the Far Shore. Just like any other banquet, there is food and booze of every kind available. But also, the small tittering bright white spirits are in attendance, following around any Far Shore resident who helped out today. You might find yourself with a new friend or two who won't leave you alone, who keep giggling anytime you're kind, and who don't seem to be able to talk and only exude delight and good feelings.



In Summary:

• Help out the people affected by the demon
• Give out food to people who need it
• Clean up the messes
• Eat some good food, drink some good booze
• Have fun~

I'm just trying to do what the note asked and trying to get my head wrapped around this.

[Because there's a ton of unanswered questions.]

What do you mean by that? I don't think I have any-

[He's cut off as she calls him. The name transforming him into a hand held gaming device for her to hold.

Yeah, that's another strange thing he's not ready for.]

... Shuusei Kagari.

... Looks like you didn't lose anything, so that's good to know. Uhn... [She didn't want to say this before, but—] I'm kinda trying to get my head wrapped around this, too. I thought you were supposed to turn into a weapon.

[And at that he reverts back, now sitting on the ground blinking in surprise at this.]

I didn't... what? What did I just do? What did you just do?

[And finally.]

Wait, so you're in the same boat then?

[Maybe this was the part she should have explained back when she offered to explain things.]

It's your Weird Name, that's what calling it does. Think it only does that if I do it, though.

[And...uhh...] Have fun getting used to that.

[She absently tucks her hair behind an ear.] As for me, I turn into something too, but not like that. It's a shinki thing. How was it, turning into that...handheld?

So that name turns me into...

[He takes a moment. Shuusei was aware of more than he realizes while he was liked that.

Also, he knows what a hand held gaming system is. It's even low tech! Don't ask him how he knows that.]

That. I could feel what I was, but it wasn't like I feel things now. Also I was aware of you but it wasn't like actually seeing.

Oh, so you don't actually turn into an object or something? That's good to know.

... You feel like a weapon in that form? [Weirder things have become weapons; she has a bio-connector to prove it.] Or do you just play games?

I don't think I felt like a weapon... was I supposed to? It was just weird.

[How does a weapon feel? How is he supposed to know she can cast a spell called Rend with him like that anyways? He stands up, looking around and really starting to notice that the general public ignores him if he isn't actively doing something to them.]

Okay, how about we try that again? This time I won't be sitting there in total shock at least.

Well then, give me a signal when you want to change back. [She has no idea if they can communicate while he's like that, or even if he can move himself, but at least she's floated the idea.]

[And again he changes into that hand held. There's a long pause before she gets to hear him communicate to her. He's not even sure how he's doing it.]

Okay, nope. This is still weird. Does this feel weird to you?

[She was just about to turn him back when he speaks up.]

I don't feel anything. Is it a bad-weird or good-weird?

Neither? Hold on a second, let me try something.

[Okay, it takes more than a second but his screen turns on. A little menu with a couple of games and apps pops up.]

Okay, so I'm not just dead plastic. Here's an idea, why don't we play... wait a minute. Actually. Try the camera.

[Switching gears as he seems to notice something.]

[Wants her to press the camera function or aim the camera? She goes for aiming it first, holding him up in Prime Selfie Position(TM).]

If this isn't a laser or something, I'll be disappointed.

If it's a laser, I'm just going to apologize right now for what I'm about to do.

[He manages to highlight an icon and flips from one to another until he's able to select the camera. He flips it to look at her and she's on the screen!

There's an icon for taking a picture, one for lighting, one for flipping the camera to be screen facing or back facing and one more that's not really recognizable. Sort of like a head with a halo.

He selects that and her image on the screen glows giving off an aura. The aura wavers and almost looks like heat or flames coming off of her. The color scheme seems to mostly be a deep red, with a bit of yellow and orange flecks dancing off. There's also a few strange black veins piercing towards the center.]

Okay, good. It's not a laser.

[He snaps a picture, saving it.]

Hey—! Don't save that! [What is this, prison??]

Aim it away if you really thought it was a laser! [Though, come to think of it, she has no idea if lasers can harm her that much. Physical things don't, but lasers are kind of a different story. Besides which...]

... What was with that weird filter? That wasn't a thermal.

[Her image leaves the screen and the camera flips to use the back side, pointing away from her. He continues to communicate with her though even he doesn't quite understand how with no mouth or ears.]

Hey! Okay, I think I can delete that. Maybe. Anyways, don't ask me how I know this but I think that picture showed me... er... you your own aura.

You have a connection to fire or heat. Your aura is powerful so... I guess that makes you better than human. You're strong willed and a survivor. You're currently a little curious and interested in... something. Probably whatever it is I can do.

Oh, and you've got some bad karma that seems to be part of who you are now.

[He can picture and analyze auras? Is that a thing he could always do? Shuusei's wondering just how he knows the things he does.]

[Well, the bad karma part doesn't surprise her, but the fact that that's a thing that can be sensed is new to her. Even though it...probably shouldn't, considering she's supposedly a god now, but hell if she knows how this works.]

Yeah? Wouldn't say I'm better than human, exactly.

[It's pretty disconcerting, but not really any more invasive than psychometry. And anyway, that stuff wasn't anything she was hiding. Even if he did phrase it in flattering terms. "Bad karma" is just another way of saying "bad person," isn't it? Heh.]

Hey. How about that person over there? [She points his camera toward an innocuous group of people across the street.]

[Not that he is anyone to judge. He doesn't even know who he was in life. When she redirects the camera at the group of people he shakes free of his thoughts.]

It's pretty exhausting to force the camera to work myself. I think if you just hit the right shoulder button it should snap a picture for you. I'll get this one though.

[The picture is taken and it shows the a lighter aura for those people. Not as prominent or detailed. Their aura's coloring though is predominately grays and silvers.]

It looks like they've got normal aura's and the color suggests they're somewhere ranging from tired to depressed or sad.

[Considering they're outside a home that's seen better days and still has a long ways to go, chances are that's related.]

So it works on... [... What are they called again? Near residents or something?] Those guys.

[Gods and shinki can waltz in front of them and they wouldn't notice, though. On the other hand, she has no idea how to experiment or whatever with this stuff; the only reason she knew about the additional abilities they gave her was cuz they told her.]

[Maybe? His experience with this has been these two pictures.]

I think I'm ready to be me again. This is cool, but also so weird.

Oh! Before I forget. I seem to have one more app that's strange but I can't seem to activate it. It's like an itch on your back you can't quite reach. I know it's there.

[He flips off the camera and goes back to the menu, scrolling past a few things including some built in games until a program/app called "Rend" shows up.]

[Oh, that. A part of her is tempted to use it just to see what it does, but how it works was never explained to her (or it was explained after she stopped listening), and given its nature and the proximity of the Nearians, she doesn't want to come under the scrutiny of the higher-ups for now.]

Shuusei Kagari.

[At least they know it's there.]

Rend is an attack or something. Like a Ma— [Wait, he wouldn't know what a Maximum Drive is.] Like a finisher, against ayakashi, which are things they want us to get rid of.

[This time he lands on his feet. He teeters a bit when he regains having actual legs and the ability to balance but manages to stay standing.

That's going to take getting used to.]

So we're not just here for community service?

[He kind of got where this was going with the confusion about him not being a weapon and all. Shuusei just smiles though.]

So we fight these things and then you finish them off with that? Do I just rough them up or something?

You can think of it as a different kind of community service, if you want. [Since ayakashi are supposed to be negative somethings, it's totally different from beating up and/or killing people for money. Pretty much community service considering nobody gets paid except with not-death.]

I've never fought one, either. Since we have to do it together, it's probably a pain in the ass. [There's working in a team, and then there's that.]

Don't think about this too hard, but you have experience in roughing things up?

I don't know, I guess I could go pick a fight with someone and see what happens.

[That's mostly a joke. Mostly.]

Maybe we should figure out if we can even fight together? Are you any good?
