010 | Relief and Rescue

Who: Everyone!
What: Cleanup and moral support
When: All day May 16
Where: Just outside of Tokyo
Summary: It's time to get rid of the mess that that demon made!

The attack by the demon recently has left the surrounding area in a very sorry state. Not only are some people still hospitalized or slowly recovering from the affects of the draining of their life force, but a lot of nasty accidents happened during the time that people were walking around like they were dead to the world. It's been attributed to an odd natural disaster, and many think it may have been an illness that caused it.

The Heavens have decided to send any available gods and shinki down to help out in the relief efforts. If they try hard enough, they should be easily seen for the times when they are helping people out, so it shouldn't be a problem.

On top of that, some new arrivals have suddenly appeared. Amaterasu has left them little handwritten notes pinned to their shirts:

'These people need your help! I'm sorry to throw you into things like this, but please do what you can.

☼ Amaterasu ☼'

And yes, she has doodled little suns next to her name.

Care

There are a lot of people who were left hurt because of the incident with the demon and they are still trying to recover from it. From broken bones all the way to mental trauma, these people have seen a lot of crazy stuff and they aren't feeling so hot. Any kind of care is viable, but you might also want to just be an errand-runner in order to help the qualified people who are already doing a pretty good job of helping these poor folks out.

Food

A fair number of homes and stores managed to get destroyed amidst everything going on with the demon, so there's a lot of work for the neighborhood to do in helping them out. Whether by helping to rebuild what has been broken or by just handing out some free food to the people who need it. Of course, you might also take some food for yourself. Hopefully you're not a horrible enough person to just steal from the homeless~

Literal Cleaning

And here's where the fun comes in. The buildings that need to be rebuilt and the streets that need to be cleaned up are all under works and you can help in any way you deem worthy. You might carry loads or actually put forth the effort to help rebuild some lost homes, it's up to you. Of course, if you set about helping out in this way, you might notice little fairy-like spirits flitting around each of the Near Shore residents who are working hard to help each other out. The little spirits shine brightly and seem to shy away if approached, but they titter happily anytime the person they're following does something nice.

Banquet

After the day is done, the Heavens have a special treat set up for anyone who helped out - a large banquet in the Meeting Hall back on the Far Shore. Just like any other banquet, there is food and booze of every kind available. But also, the small tittering bright white spirits are in attendance, following around any Far Shore resident who helped out today. You might find yourself with a new friend or two who won't leave you alone, who keep giggling anytime you're kind, and who don't seem to be able to talk and only exude delight and good feelings.

In Summary:
  • Help out the people affected by the demon
  • Give out food to people who need it
  • Clean up the messes
  • Eat some good food, drink some good booze
  • Have fun~

Actually...yes.

[The thought that it might be a good idea to compare the information they have been provided with crossed his mind just a little while after he had noticed Shuusei.]

I assume you were helping out throughout the day as well? Who would have thought that the afterlife looks like this...

Dead people helping innocent people get through disasters. Kind of nice when you think about it.

[Somehow he's still suspicious of that though.]

Kind of, indeed.

[It's also a bit creepy, but perhaps it's just how he feels about it.]

Well, it's not like we're not getting anything out of it.

[With a smile, he holds up a plate with some sweets gathered on top.]

Yeah, but I don't even know how to compare. Maybe the banquet is a half hearted thank you, or like throwing a dog some scraps.

[Shuusei shrugs, though he's eyeing up those sweets.]

Or it might be just a big old reward for us being so awesome. Either way, I'm pretty sure this isn't how I pictured the afterlife.

That's one interesting assumption...

[Without being able to compare it's indeed impossible to say.]

I see that you're the doubtful type. That's good.

[Well, to be fair, it's probably difficult not to question almost everything given their situation, but still.]

I could say the same. But considering that the other option might have been hell...maybe it's not that bad.

Do you think that's an option? Maybe this is where the bad people go. Or the bad people who are useful.

[Or maybe he was a saint and this is his reward. Service.

Shuusei doesn't dwell on that though.]

Either way, I suppose constant torture would be a lot worse.

I can't see why not. If there's heaven, there must be hell somewhere as well.

[Whether it's true or not, to him, it does make sense.]

Definitely. However, I can't imagine shinki's life as too...peaceful.

[This is his conclusion just after one day...]

[personal profile] latentforlife 2016-12-02 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, if we're dead I guess I wouldn't want the afterlife to be too peaceful and boring, you know?

[Shuusei's been itching to do... something. He doesn't know what. He needs more distractions.]

Is there such thing as too peaceful here, I wonder.

[Nobody can guarantee that they won't be summoned to do some work again tomorrow.]

But we're free to do whatever we'd like in our free time, so...maybe taking up a new hobby or two won't hurt.

[personal profile] latentforlife 2016-12-04 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Well, there's a lot of us and I haven't seen any of those things we're supposed to fight, so I guess it's got to be pretty peaceful right?

[Though manual labor seems like such a waste. Or the best scam, using unpaid undead workers.]

I guess I'll have to find a hobby then.

Something is telling me that it may not be that easy...even if those ayakashi aren't around.

[He can't imagine a peaceful (after)life with so many people around, basically.]

I'd like to try something new myself, I'm just not really sure what could it be.

[personal profile] latentforlife 2016-12-06 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
It's hard to tell what's new and what's just something we decided we didn't like in life, right?

[He doesn't know what sort of life he lived. He's not sure what sort of life he wants to live now, in the afterlife sort of way.]
secrowtary: (025)

[personal profile] secrowtary 2016-12-07 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
That's true. I wonder whether the memories of the past would be such a burden for us...whatever it is, however, we have no choice but to play by the rules of this world. Or should I say by the rules of heavens...

[Yep, he totally doesn't mind having his memories erased.]
latentforlife: (The moon is full and so are we)

[personal profile] latentforlife 2016-12-07 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, and something tells me we better catch on quick. Even if we have down time we are fighting something nasty, so it's better not to get caught with our pants down.
