010 | Relief and Rescue
Who: Everyone!
What: Cleanup and moral support
When: All day May 16
Where: Just outside of Tokyo
Summary: It's time to get rid of the mess that that demon made!

The attack by the demon recently has left the surrounding area in a very sorry state. Not only are some people still hospitalized or slowly recovering from the affects of the draining of their life force, but a lot of nasty accidents happened during the time that people were walking around like they were dead to the world. It's been attributed to an odd natural disaster, and many think it may have been an illness that caused it.
The Heavens have decided to send any available gods and shinki down to help out in the relief efforts. If they try hard enough, they should be easily seen for the times when they are helping people out, so it shouldn't be a problem.
On top of that, some new arrivals have suddenly appeared. Amaterasu has left them little handwritten notes pinned to their shirts:
'These people need your help! I'm sorry to throw you into things like this, but please do what you can.
☼ Amaterasu ☼'
And yes, she has doodled little suns next to her name.

Care
There are a lot of people who were left hurt because of the incident with the demon and they are still trying to recover from it. From broken bones all the way to mental trauma, these people have seen a lot of crazy stuff and they aren't feeling so hot. Any kind of care is viable, but you might also want to just be an errand-runner in order to help the qualified people who are already doing a pretty good job of helping these poor folks out.
Food
A fair number of homes and stores managed to get destroyed amidst everything going on with the demon, so there's a lot of work for the neighborhood to do in helping them out. Whether by helping to rebuild what has been broken or by just handing out some free food to the people who need it. Of course, you might also take some food for yourself. Hopefully you're not a horrible enough person to just steal from the homeless~
Literal Cleaning
And here's where the fun comes in. The buildings that need to be rebuilt and the streets that need to be cleaned up are all under works and you can help in any way you deem worthy. You might carry loads or actually put forth the effort to help rebuild some lost homes, it's up to you. Of course, if you set about helping out in this way, you might notice little fairy-like spirits flitting around each of the Near Shore residents who are working hard to help each other out. The little spirits shine brightly and seem to shy away if approached, but they titter happily anytime the person they're following does something nice.
Banquet
After the day is done, the Heavens have a special treat set up for anyone who helped out - a large banquet in the Meeting Hall back on the Far Shore. Just like any other banquet, there is food and booze of every kind available. But also, the small tittering bright white spirits are in attendance, following around any Far Shore resident who helped out today. You might find yourself with a new friend or two who won't leave you alone, who keep giggling anytime you're kind, and who don't seem to be able to talk and only exude delight and good feelings.

Wow. It's not often someone thanks him so nicely.]
No problem. I'm kinda supposed to help you new guys out as much as I can anyway...
I'm Yukine, a shinki. [Not... that she wouldn't already know that, having said that he's looking for his god and all. /sigh.]
I'm not one of the new shinki, so if you have any questions about stuff you can ask me.
no subject
Are yo-oh!
[Her eyes widen with delight, and she claps her hands together.]
Sora told me a little about you! Something about borderlines? I've heard you and someone named Kuzama know something about that?
[She shakes her head, smiling, and bobs a bow.]
Anyway! It's really nice to meet you Yukine!
no subject
But no, she's just bowing now. Phew.]
Right. You too. [Person who has yet to give her name.]
Sora, eh? You're right, Kazuma and I can teach about borderlines. Have you learnt it yet? [She seems to have that 'shinki' atmosphere about her... not that his guesses are always 100% though.]
no subject
Maybe. Who knows. She straightens up quick enough, but she's contained (some) of her bubbliness.]
Nope. All I've heard is that it's something only shinki can do...
[And then it clicks.]
Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't introduce myself.
I'm Tezcatlipoca's partner, Masaki.
no subject
Masaki-san then. [At least her name is normal. And now his expression is senpai-stern.]
Listen, it's really risky for you to be on the Near Shore without anyone else around, especially if you don't know how to make a borderline yet! ... [He sighs, then looks off to the side with a small frown.]
I'll show you. You probably won't be able to do it right away, but you need to learn how it's done, at least.
[He gives the fairy-things a quick look, but they are clearly not ayakashi so he ignores them for now and he walks off in a random direction, peering carefully through the rubble.]
It's easier to practice against an actual ayakashi, so I'll find one. But once we're done here- [He whips around to frown at her again-] you should only work around other people. With your god would be best.
[And sighing again under his breath Yukine continues the search. Yato better not be slacking off somewhere. Especially when he's working so hard.]
no subject
[True, Jae-Ha had dragged her on an avoid ayakashi adventure...and Zangetsu nearly got them both mauled by bat ayakashi...
She's actually been pretty lucky, all things considered.
But seeing Yukine walking off, she follows him, though she's not sure how he's going to find an ayakashi that's...harmless?
Then again, he can protect them both, with her god or no. His turn around had her bringing up her hands in surrender.]
Yes! I'll remember that. It might be a little hard...since Dio is nocturnal...but I'll try!
[Actually...something comes to mind as she follows Yukine in his search for ayakashi to borderline.]
What kind of payment would you like for this lesson? I could make you something.
[As in food, since she can cook.]
no subject
...Her god only comes out at night? That's weird. But really rough. Really rough.
Yukine gives a little start at being offered something-]
Eh? I don't charge or anything... [It's nice to be asked though. He keeps his eyes to the ground as he asks,]
What kind of stuff do you make?
no subject
That's nice of you not to charge. I make all sorts of things. A lot of traditional Japanese meals-those are easy. Pasta, curries, au gaitens...I've learned you can find recipes on the internet too.
So I might try baking. Like...muffins.
no subject
If you try making muffins, I don't mind taste testing them for you. But I won't hold back what I really think.
-Found one. [Yukine picks up his pace.]
no subject
[Oh, wait, ayakashi. She jogs after him. Where is it...?]
no subject
[As he speaks Yukine bends down next to a bush that looks like it got ran over with a car. Shifting some branches he carefully puts the sleeve of his shirt over his hand and makes a grab for something.]
Ugggh- this is so gross every time I do it. [Grumbling that to himself under his breath he then stands up and turns to show her his catch- a tiny ayakashi that looks like it could have been a hamster.]
Here. This is our target.
no subject
[She'll see about getting him some fruit muffins then, when she has a chance. But...she watches him, and notices how carefully he handles...whatever he's reaching for.
Masaki is a little taken aback.]
That's...an ayakashi?
[She stares.]
It's so small.
Lesson time! (sorry...)
Sure, this one is. Some are as big as a room. Or big as a house. It’s no less dangerous just because it’s small though. And it still blights the same. Geh.
[With a sound of distaste he drops the ayakashi. It squirms to its feet and hisses indignantly at Yukine. Ignoring it, Yukine continues,]
Making a borderline depends a lot on your frame of mind. You want to make a line to keep out what you want kept out. That’s why going against a real ayakashi is better. They’re revolting.
Make your hand into a shape like this- [He makes a loose fist, then points out his index and middle fingers,] then use it to draw the line.
Line!
[Although he doesn’t need to say the word anymore, he says it for her benefit as he draws a line in the air between himself and the ayakashi. The line becomes transcribed on the ground in light, and the ayakashi who had started approaching Yukine (in an attempt to bite his ankles? Hah.) bounces backwards from it.]
Most shinki take a long time to learn how to do it. You new shinki seem to catch on pretty quickly, but don’t worry if you can’t get it right away. Just keep practicing.
Want to try?
[He can let go of his borderline whenever she's ready.]
time to get some learnin on
Still, she listened intently, watching him closely. A line...
Whoa. She leaned back a little, startled at the light, before she made to poke the air above the line on the ground.]
It...no, I think I can do this. Focus on what I want to keep out?
[Defence, not offence. She drops her hand, before taking in a deep breath.]
I'm ready.
[She's going to try her darnest to draw the borderline. It helps that Yukine here. Keeping him safe (laughable as it sounds) is great motivation.]
yep yep!
He nods. He'd feel pretty good as a teacher if she did get it on the first try, and she looks kind of confident. But, it's just fact that nearly no one gets it at first. Well, they'll see.]
Give it a shot.
[And the line vanishes. The little ayakashi is surprised that the resistance it had been meeting is gone, but refocuses on Yukine's ankles. (rawr.)]
no subject
Her fist tightens, and she takes in a deep breath. She just had to focus, and remember. No ayakashi is going to gnaw on Yukine's ankles on Masaki's watch! (Hopefully.)
She copies Yukine's previous motion, her expression determined.]
Line!
[It...almost seems to work. There's a flicker of power, she almost sees a light but...it didn't look a thing like Yukine's. Frustrated, Masaki huffs.]
no subject
His eyes widen at the tiny flicker of light, and although it doesn't resolve into a line he turns towards her excitedly.]
Wow!
[He pauses for a beat to step further back from the ayakashi and draw another line against it. Don't interrupt, bitty thing.]
That was really good for a first try! Whatever you were thinking about, your mind is in the right place. Mmm. Yah. You just need to practice more.
[Having done it on his first try himself
protag perks, he's not good at knowing what advice to offer other than that.]When you get back, look up Kazuma-san. He can help you practice too.
no subject
I was thinking about keeping you safe, so I guess it was the right idea!
[Not that he needs her to do that. It's almost laughable, considering Yukine is her senior, and she's defending him from an ankle biter. But it's the thought that counts. ]
I'll give it another shot! [And more practice-but ah. Hearing the name mentioned has her brighten a bit.]
I've heard of him. Well...I heard he gives lessons, but that's it. What's Kazuma-san like?
[She's pretty sure he's nice, considering that he's offering these lessons to new shinki. Or so she hopes.]
no subject
At the question Yukine smiles shallowly. Perhaps there is a little pain behind the smile too...]
What he's like? Uh. He's a good teacher, but really harsh... yah. More or less that.
[That's simply what it boils down to.]
no subject
Though she winces a little at his statement.]
Ah...that sounds...
[Sorry Yukine, she's trying to find a positive in this.]
But if it means you're well educated...
[She's not even buying that.]
no subject
I am! He taught me a lot! And I’ll even best him next time! [He makes a determined pose before drooping a little again, the light leaving his eyes for a moment.]
...
I’m sure he’ll view someone like you with less contempt than he does me.
no subject
[...wait. What?]
Why would he? You seem pretty cool to me.
no subject
Heh. Thanks.
Don't worry about it though. It's not a big deal. [Sorry, he won't be elaborating on that.]
Anyway, did you want to take one more swipe at this thing? [Yukine points down at the tiny ayakashi, who has finally wised up (as much as a tiny ayakashi can) and started following the line.]
no subject
But that vanishes at the offer to try again. She stares down at the little ayakashi, and nods.]
Yes please. I want to do see if I can get it this time.
[Protection. Keep Yukine safe, keep her god and herself safe...she could feel something settle in her, and she felt far less nervous and grumpy. The ayakashi would always be on the other side because that's where she wanted it to be.]
Yeah. I think I will.
no subject
[Yukine's line disappears and he takes a couple steps back.
The tiny ayakashi gives a tiny but ferocious squeak and runs towards him.]
