All New Gods Conclave
Who: All new gods. Every single one, including new arrivals. Attendance is mandatory.*
What: An all new-god's meeting, featuring one important announcement.
When: May 17th, 11 a.m.
Where: The Meeting Hall on the Far Shore.
[*OOC: You do not have to tag in to show your attendance. However all the gods are brought to the meeting. This is to make sure that the information is IC-ly shared fairly with all the god characters.]
---Invitation--
Today, every single new god finds one of Amaterasu's messengers at their front door in the morning. No matter your condition from the banquet the night before, the messenger insists on handing their message to the god personally and directly. Gods not at home will find themselves found anyway, although it's now a bit later in the morning. The new shinki are absolutely forbidden to take the message for the god.
The message, written simply in black ink, reads:
"You are invited to attend a conclave of the gods, May 17th at 11 a.m. at the Meeting Hall.
The agenda comprises of one item: to give a meaningful and informational announcement in regards to your shinki. As this information has literal life-and-death consequences for the shinki, we expect your attendance.
You will be brought to the Meeting Hall promptly at 11."
At the bottom is an official-looking stamp of Amaterasu's name in red ink, and beside that a stamp of Suijin's name.
The messenger will make sure that the god understands the message, and if they don't they should ask one of the other new gods, because they aren't allowed to look at the message either. Sorry, they can't answer any questions.
--Conclave--
Promptly at 11, you are teleported to the Meeting Hall, to the inner room where the gods meet. It is dark, but when you blink your perspective shifts, and you find yourself in the midst of bars of light, in a bar of light yourself.*
A voice speaks, but you cannot quite tell if it is even male or female, let alone any other distinguishing feature about it.
"We will bring this meeting to order.
You will at once notice that you are completely anonymous here. Unless you say something to give yourself away, no one will be able to discern who you are. However, I request that you remain silent, as what you are here for is an announcement. To show that this is all done in good will, I shall reveal myself."
The golden light around the person speaking diffuses, and the speaker is revealed. In an ornate kimono she stands with her hands folded in front of her, a wide-brimmed veiled hat upon her head obscuring her face. Despite the veil you can see that her face is painted as white as her hands. Her face seems to have a completely neutral expression as her bright red lips part to speak again:
"I am the Mizu no Kami, Suijin, and today I speak for heaven.
"It has come to our attention that, as you new gods were almost all formerly human, you have some unique challenges upon you in this situation you have been thrust into. One of these challenges has to do with the God's Greatest Secret.
"The instinct that you should be following to not divulge anything of a shinki's past to them seems to be weakened in the face of human curiosity and the fact that some of you knew your shinki in life. Therefore we come before you today in order to announce to you in no uncertain terms: the way of this world is that if you reveal even the slightest piece of your shinki's past to them, they will fall.
"As most of you have already realized, the new shinki are quite different in many regards, including their name. However, the ability for them to fall is the same. A shinki's past becomes negative karma that devours them and immediately turns them into an ayakashi. There is no saving the shinki from it- no reversal, no recovery. The formerly-shinki ayakashi must be killed. Recently there was an incident of a new shinki falling, and the details of that incident are on your BBS, posted the morning of May 8th.
"In regards to the memories that some shinki have reported recovering on their own, they are still an anomaly. However, as was unfortunately proven, it remains certain that speaking to a shinki of their past will still cause them to fall.
"Telling a human to 'not think of something' will at once make them think of it, and therefore a desire to wonder about the past is very contagious among shinki. It will be up to you to curb your shinki's curiosity away from the danger. We implore you to be cautious, and for gods alone to keep the God's Greatest Secret.
"This concludes my announcement in regards to the God's Greatest Secret."
For a moment she pauses, dark eyes looking to the side for a moment.
"Although it was not on the agenda, I do have one further announcement. The heavens have been conducting our own investigation into how you all have come to be here. We would share this piece of information we have found with you: Whomever is doing this is not in Japan.
"This concludes the meeting of the gods. You are dismissed."
--Afterwards--
With the meeting concluded, you exit the dark room and return to the Meeting Hall.
[OOC: Feel free to use this post for discussion and mingling!]

[Schuldig will be hanging around off to the side somewhere, listening attentively and definitely not planning to stir up trouble. Right now. Some people may recognize him but right now he's okay with that risk; this was an administrative summons, not a call to arms or seeking a brawl. He's being good, honest.
Buuut definitely looking around and trying to catch any other pieces of information that he hasn't heard yet, mainly from Ukoku.]
Heading out
[As they're all walking, Schuldig will be hanging towards the back if you're going to be one of the last ones to leave. He'd rather wait to see if there's a scene after the credits, so to speak. He'll linger as long as he can until he's ushered out, but as a result he may bump into your character.]
Heading out
[And there's a familiar face that Schuldig has bumped into. He looks at him, for a moment, not saying a word before he starts to talk.]
Let's go. Or are you waiting for someone?

It's a wonder how Rin's able to stay still and quiet for the duration of the meeting then, but since he's dealing with forces and people he doesn't yet understand, he figures it's best to be on his best behavior. Never mind that this all seems to be information he's heard of before and probably didn't have to be yanked out of his schedule to hear repeated... Needless to say, he's more than a little irked by the time the meeting draws to a close, and once they're all free, he's one of the first to exit out into the hall. No idea how long he plans to stick around, but he supposes he should at least stay to chat with Makoto and Nagisa--
--or he could hang back and take care of more pressing matters first.
Standing by the exit with his back to the wall and arms crossed, Rin watches each god as they're ushered and filed out, only choosing to finally speak once one in particular makes his appearance.]

[Ever since Shun saw that post on the 8th, he'd resigned himself to the fact that there really was nothing he could do to help Yuto that wouldn't be far, far more dangerous than any potential payoff. But hearing it this way is more final, somehow, and while he's at least approving of the fact that his talk with Suijin and presumably any others she spoke to went towards this unprecedented level of transparency (if annoyed that it took shinki dying from it already for this to happen), he leaves the meeting somewhat distracted. Which, for him, means that he's only noticing people when they get five metres from him instead of ten.
He's interested to know what the other gods think of this development, so he is hanging around. But for a short while after the meeting, he'll be doing so by leaning against a wall, arms crossed and fingers practically digging into the upper sleeve of his coat. If anyone approaches, he'll look to them, but otherwise he's looking to the side with a faintly pained look on his face.]
What?
--
[B: Discussion]
[After the initial frustration, Shun figures it'll be more productive to actually go around and speak to some of the other gods about this. While he's looking in particular for people he knows, anyone who looks like they've been thinking seriously about this development may be approached by him. He's as reserved as ever, but he at least sounds somewhat interested when he puts forward his question.]
Did you already know about this, or is it new information? [It's not new to him, but chances are there's people who missed that network.]
B
It's clear she's troubled. After all, it's a lot to take in. ]
About the God's Greatest Secret? Of course. Things have always been this way here. This is why we name our shinki the way they do... because they come to us as a blank slate. Knowing their name would lead to them remembering who they were, after all.
[ A beat. ]
But if you mean the information regarding this perpetrator not being in Japan, no. This is new to me. However, it does make sense seeing as the gods who have been given form here aren't all from Japan.

He's known for a long time how dangerous it would be to tell his shinki about their pasts. It doesn't erase the hurt or how much he misses the friendship they had at home- but this world is what it is.]
I knew... at least about the pasts of our shinki. We can't talk to them about it.
[It's Shouto's past, really, and it's unfair to keep it from him, but if it would turn him into a monster, then it's his responsibility to not invite those thoughts. Maybe if they can just keep their thoughts on the present instead of the past... He sighs.]
But as for the second part, whoever's bringing us here not being in Japan? That's news to me.

[Ankh's automatic response to anything was to look for a place where he can perch and watch the others around him. Barring that, he decided on an out of the way place where he can listen while pretending he wasn't really listening to others. Of course, said spot was close to where Shun happened to be. Since he didn't seem to be in the talking mood, Ankh wasn't going to start, well, until he said that.]

[It's only been a day that Maria's been here, and it seems remarkably soon to be called to some kind of major meeting. But even if her shinki is a little...strange, she can't put their life in danger like that, so she shows up to the meeting with everyone else. Even for an idol, it feels almost overwhelming to be so isolated yet surrounded by other gods, and she listens intently until the end, when everyone starts trickling out.
She herself is still thinking on it as she walks through the doors. It hadn't occurred to her that there might be people who knew more of their shinki's pasts than the deaths, and this is the first she's heard of that risk of death in telling them. But with so many others here, she can't be the only one worried, and she offers a smile to those nearby.]
Am I right in thinking these kinds of meetings aren't a regular happening here?
--
[B: Asking Around]
[Another thing that Maria hasn't learnt much about so far is what it's like to have a shinki that isn't like her own. This announcement probably has more meaning for people with shinki like that, so she feels like it's worth asking people who have been here longer than her.
They mentioned shinki dying already, too. It's awful, but there may be some use in knowing what happened so she can be absolutely sure she avoids it herself. She hopes that none of her own friends arrive here as shinki, but with this place as it seems to be there's no promise of that.
Waving a hand in greeting, she'll be approaching some of those who linger after the meeting.]
Hello, would it be okay if I asked you a few questions? This is all still new to me.
B
[ She does offer a small, assuring smile best she can. It must be so overwhelming for these newcomers -- especially those who just arrived. She can only imagine how it must be for those who had JUST arrived, learning something like this on their first week in.
But then, this is why she's lingered, after all.
Though it occurs to her that she should probably introduce herself, just to add a little credibility to her answers. ]
I am the god Bishamon, by the way. Unlike the rest of you, I am a god of this world and always have been. So please, any questions, you may have... I might be able to answer.

[While it really wasn't even in Ruri's nature to inquire about someone's past much past their skills that did make some sense in the context of the few conversations she had with Shinki. Still, to consider a design flaw like that she may want to speak with someone who actually knew how the process worked in depth to see if it could be improved upon. As for people not being here she didn't expect to see Yamada-san, and since he was half lost to his own dream world anyways doubted a thing like not knowing who he was would bother him.]

He listens silently while Suijin oh so poshly threatens the lives and well-being of everyone Gojyo ares about. What she has to say might be important, and he's got enough self-control to listen. Really, he does. But the second she's done, so is he.
"This is bullshit!" he hollers, and it's only the knowledge that they can disappear him at any time that stops him from charging at Suijin and demanding answers physically, instead of just verbally. They might not have been close, but Axel was still a friend, and to use his fate as a threat to keep the rest of them in line doesn't sit well with Gojyo at all. "If you don't want them turning into monsters then give them their goddamn memories back!"
Approach with caution. He's in a punching mood.

Sharak's voice is calm and measured when she approaches Gojyo, in contrast to the deep glare on her face and the tightness of her crossed arms. She agrees it's bullshit, but it strikes Sharak as more inept than malicious.

Re: OTA
OTA
[ When the invitation arrives, all of Sanae's other plans are pushed to the wayside. After all, this seems like such an important meeting. Which means she should be prepared for it. Meaning, she has to look in tip-top shape!!
So all throughout the morning, Sanae does her best to clean herself up. Getting the tangles out of her hair takes hours given how much she flies around, and then scrubbing off the dirt on her skin from working with her farm of dust bunny spirits takes even longer. With her hair still in a towel and clad in a bath robe, she's still rummaging through her closet looking for the perfect kimono to wear to the meeting. Then, quite suddenly, she's teleported away, the meeting commences, and then she's out in the Meeting Hall. ] W-W-Wait! The meeting's over with already? But I'm still in my bathrobe!
[ Gosh, it would have been nice to know they were anonymous beforehand! But still! That doesn't matter! She's completely unprepared!! ]
Okay Time for Serious Response in Which They Should Have a Party
[ After finding her center once again, Sanae is better able to participate in the discussion. It's true, how some gods easily spoke of shinki's memories and pasts was a bit troubling, especially since her own shinki had felt the adverse effects of almost recalling bits of his own past before. It could just be that the new gods-- her included-- simply did not know the gravity of the topic. ] We should be a lot more careful with our shinki. It's our duty to protect them, too, so we have to be mindful.
[ A pause. ] Oh-- and maybe we should do something to show that we appreciate them! Like a celebration in their honor! I know that it's us gods that have the followers, but we're really nothing without them, too!
On the Topic of the Investigation
[ She gasps at the reveal, that the culprit is not in Japan. She wouldn't have ever guessed! But it's getting her to think-- and think hard. ] Then-- if they're not in Japan, what if there's something else about them that's different from what we have assumed. Such as... what if they're not another god? What if they're an intelligent ayakashi? Or maybe even a human?
no subject
The past being negative karma...what a joke. After the meeting concludes, she lingers in the Meeting Hall, jerkily looking around for something and doing a piss-poor job of hiding it.
discussion;
But the other announcement? That hits a sore spot and she's pounding on the mirror like shafts of light. almost before Suijin finishes speaking.]
The hell is the point of telling us that and not letting us doing anything about it!?
[Unfortunately they're all dumped out into the meeting hall before anything else can be said.]
Hey! I'm not finished! What the fuck are we doing here!?
[By now she's pretty much yelling at a wall which bears the brunt of her fist slamming into it, flinching about as much as a mountain in a spring breeze. Shepard on the other hand winches as it rattles her still healing injuries. But she doesn't regret it. This all reeks just a little too much of being grounded and under base arrest.]
Aftermath
Unlike when he was in the Gotei 13, he has no reason to follow these people. Who are sure to only cause problems.
He knows very little of his shinki, but telling them even that little bit is going to cause them problems.
His arms cross over his chest as he walks towards someone.]
Hey. I want to ask you something. About what happened.

Go ahead.

OTA
[ Well that certainly was a lot to take in. He didn't speak up much, still trying to make sense of everything. He'd been good on keeping all that information away from Horikawa. After all, he was an obedient shinki. If this was one of those rules of the world he had to follow, then he would follow it to the t. His life as a reaper had been rules to begin with. This was just another one.
This conclave though, was the first he had ever attended and it occured to him that it would be best to try and make a good impression. He'd dressed up a bit more than he usually did: a matching set of dark purple jacket, vest and pants, black tie over a white shirt, a tophat with a sprig of tobacco flowers, a dried daisy and a silver skull pinned into the ribbon. It was a little stuffier, a little more formal than he was used to but when one had decent threads, one could carry themselves a little more confidently. So he's hanging out right outside, near the door in what seems to be silent contemplation.
As you pass, he may reach over and lightly tap your shoulder with the cane he has (dark mahogany with a silver skull on the top) just to call your attention. ]
Think you could spare a bit of time? Just want to know what you make of all this.
no subject
[ But when he felt the tap on his shoulder, he looked over with an almost sort of dazed expression... before realizing who it was. Watanuki's brows knit a touch. ]
....Ron-san... [ And he turned to face him fully. ] Of course you'd be here...

[ Oh hello, there's a short, panicked, blond kid next to you, suddenly asking anyone who's nearby a ton of questions. Much like an actual child would when they were presented with something new. ]
But...
[ And for once, Nagisa seems super uneasy. ]
What if we tell one of our shinki about the other? Or if we try and get them to like things they used to? Or if we talk about an 'old friend' without saying it's actually them?
[ He's getting increasingly more worried as he rattles off all the things he may have said that were far too close to being too much. He almost looks as if he's about to burst into tears just thinking about it. ]
Rei-chan said he remembered some things. And that someone who kinda looked like me was there. What if he figures out it's actually me?

I mean, what if one of your friends talked to one another, and they said something harmful? Being a shinki must be awful enough already. I don't think we should burden them any further.

[Closed to Nagisa and Rin]
[This was a great time to meet up with Nagisa and Rin both. After this huge bomb of information has been dropped on them. Makoto already knew that he had to avoid telling Haru things about his past because something bad was going to happen, but he didn't know it was going to be this bad.]
...What do we do, guys? I'm really scared... It's too easy to talk to any of them about the past even if we don't include their names.
Could we still trigger a memory if we just use a general term like "an old friend of mine"? What about things that they like? Could me letting Haru eat mackerel trigger a memory?
I really don't know what to do....
[Worry wart mode super activated!]
GENERAL OTA

OTA
[(The thought of it still makes him grit his teeth in frustration -- he hates the thought of keeping the shinki in the dark even to the knowledge of why they have to be kept in the dark, but the moment Souji's safety was brought into the matter...)]
[Still. It's a step. It's an attempt to clear up communication with the new gods, and it seems like a step towards at least attempting to act with greater transparency where possible. The other gods, the ones who hadn't known the consequences before, are shaken up, but it's better to be a little shaken now than to lose someone dear to them the way they might if they underestimate the risks.]
[Now, he'd be awfully damned interested to hear more about that last part of the announcement... he'll have to try and catch Suijin again later, he supposes, because he's dying to know how they came by that information, how certain they are of it, what else it might mean.]
[He slips outside after the meeting is concluded, leans against the wall near the door, takes out his little tin of hand-rolled cigarettes, and lights up as he starts to think the matter over in earnest. He could be there for a little while, since he hasn't got any shortage of things to think about right at the moment.]
Re: OTA
See many familiar faces in there? This is the first time I've seen them pull rank and remind the shinki what they aren't by not inviting them to some gathering.
[Because as far as he can guess, it's going to be really damn obvious to any shinki putting 2 and 2 together where all of the gods went this morning.]

Closed to Yukio
[ On the other hand, this guy looked pretty incredible in his uniform. ]
[ He bowed his head. ] Hello again. ...I didn't catch your name the first time me met.
Re: Closed to Yukio
My name is Yukio Okumura and while I am here, I guess that I am now Satan. It's a pleasure to meet you again.
[And despite the rather...ironic title that he was given- Yukio wasn't dressed in what one might imagine "Satan" being dressed in. Instead Yukio was dressed in a crisp dark red double breasted jacket and pitch black button up shirt, and adoring the lapel of his jacket was a simple looking silver pin in the shape of a pitchfork and a ball of fire. The contrast between the dark red and pitch black made the Blue in his eyes stand out even more- they almost looked like they were dancing in blue hellflames.]

ota!
She'd thought she could do one real quick and be back home and changed for the meeting before she was summoned, but. Clearly not.
With a faint embarrassment and irritation she scans the crowd of gods; specifically she's looking for Ukoku, though she won't approach him even if she sees him. She just wants to confirm he's been brought too and makes a mental note to go to his place sometime later to question about the whole 'the person responsible is not in Japan' thing. Brainstorming with him had become a bit too much of a favorite pastime and she, for whatever unfortunate reason, valued his insight]
This was rather pointless... [She mutters to herself, arms crossed over her chest]

Why do you think that? I think it's important to make sure everyone knows.
[Perhaps it's a bit of a touchy thing for Sora. Since it was his shinki that fell on May 8th.
...She's got cool robes though, neat.]

Hiyoko Tosaka | ota
I've heard of being a day late and a dollar short but this is ridiculous. The time to share this with everybirdie was weeks ago.
[As it is, most people have already heard about this from the network. So mostly this was a big waste of time. She turns to leave, but then hesitates as her brain catches up to the last bit of info they shared.]
Wait a sec.... how do they know that?
[And why did they share it?]
