[Closed] Every Dog
Who: Lance & Keith
What: Prayer answerin'
When: June 14
Where: Back alleys and streets in Tokyo
Warnings: Teenage boys being jerks mostly.
[It's taken a lot of convincing, but somehow Lance was able to get Keith to agree to answer a prayer with him. He's pretty grateful to get to spend some time with his teammate, honestly, and he can't help the delight that's oozing from him as a result, even as they start the search for a lost dog.]
Hey Keith, what was that guy's name again? Something... weird, I know.
[All pets have weird names usually. Lance knows that. But this one just keeps slipping his mind for some reason.]

What are you doing?! [Trying to get yourself killed? There's definitely something creepy crawling its way out of the alley, made even creepier by the fact that it's super hard to see what's going on. As soon as he reaches Lance again, he moves behind him, backing him up and helping to push him faster out of the confined space.] Let's go!!
no subject
Darnit, Keith! I'm trying to protect you here, you idiot! You've already died once, don't you dare die again!
[He's going to pretend Keith has promised him that. Because the dog is going ballistic and it's taking everything in Lance to keep her in his arms and keep running.]
no subject
What? You think I'm gonna let myself get killed?
[But, uh, the dog fussing and writhing like that is making that possibility seem a little more... possible. He'll have to keep an eye on her while thye beat their retreat, just in case she slips out of Lance's grip.]
no subject
Look, I'm just saying I wouldn't put it past you! You're reckless!
[He takes a moment to look over his shoulder. It feels... less bad, but still kind of creepy.]
no subject
Well, I'm not gonna let you get killed, either.
[Is he trying to imply that he'd go down instead? Maybe]
no subject
Just shut up, would you?!
[Please. Keith. Buddy.]
no subject
But he meant what he said, and after replying to that comment with an annoyed exhale, he devotes a moment to trying to figure out the best way to actually... you know. Keep them from getting killed by whatever is chasing them. The best thing he can really think of on the fly is,]
LINE!
[Turning sharply and casting a borderline behind them. It's big and flashy, but he knows it won't last for very long, but should hopefully buy them a little bit of extra time to escape.]
no subject
Ah, but that reminds him...!]
I can teleport!!
[He shouts the words suddenly, coming to a dead stop. Welp.]
no subject
Then why have we been running??
[Don't do this to him!]
Come on then, just get us out of here if we aren't gonna try and stop that thing!
no subject
[Lance glares at Keith, tightening his grip on the dog.]
Quick, you gotta touch me or I can't take you with me.
[...wait, can he take the dog?! HE DOESN'T KNOW.]
no subject
Okay well there's really no point in trying to argue about it right now, so instead he quickly bolts over to Lance's side, tightly grabbing a hold of his arm.]
Let's go!
[Up to you now my dude!]
no subject
Hold on!
[And... he teleports them away, dog and all!! To a temple's grounds.]
no subject
[Once they're safely out of harm's way and back at the temple, Keith can't stop himself from letting out a huge sigh. He's not sure how close of a call that actually was, but escaping feels like an accomplishment regardless.
Now, to address the other two,] The dog made it just fine, right?
[Is she still barking up a storm and fighting rescue? It probably was just that thing that she was frightened of, after all.]
no subject
Yeah! Looks like we managed to complete our mission, partner!
[Lance grins at Keith, though he's looking pretty pale himself.]
no subject
Hm...]
Let's get her home. [Then their mission will be complete, right?] Then we should go back and finish that thing off.
[Not Complete.]
no subject
...Keith! You can't be serious! That thing would've... I dunno, really hurt us!
[He gestures back, like the thing is behind him.]
Rip our heads off or something!
no subject
[Come on, Lance, this is what they're supposed to be doing here!]
Besides, we can't just let it keep running around and terrorizing other people, right? Who knows what it would do to someone slower than us.
no subject
Okay, okay. We'll do it. Let's just... get this poor girl home first.
[Pets for the poor puppy.]
no subject
Well, where that thing was wasn't too far from where we have to drop her off.
[So, at least that'll make it a short trip.]
no subject
Awww, you wanna go home, don't you? Keith's a big meanie slave-driving shinki, yes he is...! What a good girl!
no subject
So
are you going to teleport us there or what?
no subject
Right, right, sorry. Grab my shoulder, would you?
[And the moment Keith does so, Lance will teleport them to the dog's house.]
no subject
Now that they're at the drop-off point,] Should one of us... knock? Or something?
[The owners might not even know they're there, but it's probably a good idea to get the dog inside post-haste.]
no subject
[Lance addresses the dog.]
You be a good girl now, okay?
[Before directing her in front of the door, knocking, grabbing Keith's hand, and RUNNING.]
no subject
[And there they go, off and away, hopefully the owner comes and grabs their dog before she tries to follow them instead, or anything.]
You don't have to be so rough.
[But, hey, at least there's not a whole lot of bite to his tone. Maybe actually working together is already softening him up. Maybe.]
