[She smiles brightly at the cheek kiss.]

A nap right after waking up-- oh wait, you've been up since dawn, how could I forget?

[But she relaxes against his arm and leans her head against his, perfectly content.]

I don't think it counts as a nap if we stay awake, anyway. And I like this too much to fall asleep.

Well, I definitely don't mind that, either.

[Smiling, he pulls her closer, twining his legs together with hers.]

[If there was any question if she still had the heart of the young woman he started dating, her giggle with the same cadence as always should put that wonder to rest. It doesn't matter that the ring was a promise for their future, it's a promise and that's what she's focusing on. She's just so happy - and expects that she'll have a smile on her face for the rest of the day. Her hand squeezes at his waist in a hug as she hums loud enough for him to hear at the same time, letting him shift their legs how he'd like.]

You know what else I wouldn't mind... getting you a promise ring too. They do that in my world, actually.

[She kisses his cheek for emphasis before continuing.]

Charming young men in high school offer a girl they like their class ring as a way to promise her that he'll replace it when they're both old enough.

A promise ring...

[As Forrest repeats the phrase, it's clear he's not entirely familiar with the concept. They didn't have that sort of thing in Nohr. But as she explains, he smiles, cuddling her closer.]

That sounds like a wonderful idea.

[Even before he speaks, pulling her closer to him makes her heart skip a beat in excitement. He'd never seemed like a luddite to her, but this isn't a matter of 'new technology' either - it's just a thing boys do, with the backdrop of high school instead of a castle. And yet, his words make her even happier.]

... You really think so?

[In lieu of her whole body moving the way someone might want to jump for joy, she just uses her foot - the one with the ring on it - to brush back and forth across his own foot and leg.]

I never thought I'd be excited to be that young again.

[It's just a custom Nohr never really developed. The country has a depressing enough atmosphere that most people try to live in the present rather than thinking about the future. The future there is often a source of worry rather than hope. And so, it's not something that was ever passed down to Forrest either. But from the smile on his face, it's something that really speaks to the romantic in him.]

I do. I'll wear any symbol of my commitment to you proudly. We can go shopping for another ring together once everyone's ages have been restored.

[He lets out a happy sigh as he feels the soft skin of her foot sliding along his. Giggling lightly himself, he affectionately curls his toes around her own, wiggling them just a little. This, too, is something special that they can share between them.]

[Despite herself, as soon as he uses the word commitment she remembers how she'd broken the news to Lance that they weren't as compatible as she'd originally thought - because the conversation wandered into polyamory and how she couldn't imagine dating multiple people unless she was prepared to marry multiple people, especially if she wasn't dating the both of them - Lance and his other interest. While she hasn't received any indications that she and Forrest have grown immensely different personalities in their seven years together, she keeps her hand at his waist while leaning up on her side to look him in the eyes again.]

Are you thinking on your hand or a necklace or keychain sort of thing? Because... I feel the same way about wearing anything, but what you gave me is for my feet. Not exactly the first place people look. All I'm saying is if you get a little more nervous about the idea when we're normal again... I won't be mad.

[If there's one thing she's learned from not achieving her goal of Hafuri in all those years, it was that sometimes patience would be required for the things she wanted the most.]

[Forrest blushes in mild embarrassment as Kairi points out the slight discrepancy in the ring situation. Smiling back at her, he reaches for her hand, lifting it up above their heads as he plays with her fingers.]

Ah... yes, that's true. Perhaps I should get you a second ring - one you can wear out in the open. If we're making that kind of promise to each other, I think we should both be able to wear our rings where anyone can see them.

[He leans over to nuzzle against her cheek for a moment before leaning a bit further to press a tender kiss to her lips. Curling his fingers around hers, he brings their hands to wrap around her waist.]

I don't think I'll be nervous about it at all. I love you, Kairi, and I certainly don't mind letting the world know it.

[She sighs happily as he plays with their fingers and smiles into the kiss too. It's these sorts of gestures she appreciates so much. They're a part of their everyday lives and yet she never gets tired of them. It's why she really isn't hesitating to return his sentiments with regards to rings and promises. He's already that special place in her heart reserved for years now. He just had to ask.]

I'm not nervous either. Even Roxas shouldn't be surprised, I don't think. All he asked me when I told him we were dating was to be careful - and we have.

[Sometimes to the point of straining her patience, to share with the world what she already felt, but... caution anyway. She's a shinki so she has to think that way.]

Two rings, though... maybe the toe ring I should just reserve for when I come to see you each evening. Then you'll be the one touching it during my massage, before I comb out your hair...

[She says with her free hand mimicking the combing motion, purely to hearken to the feeling about it.]

It'd be a shame to comb it midday like this, hm?

[Forrest lets out a happy sigh, lowering their hands and bringing hers to rest atop his chest. Ever since that confession by the bridge, Forrest hasn't been shy in showing his affection for Kairi.]

Well then, let's go out and look for a set together soon.

[Because of course he'd want to have a matching pair. And he feels like it would help to keep Kairi grounded and comfortable in the relationship.]

We'll keep this one just between us. It'll be another special thing we can share when we're alone together.

[Smiling, he leans his head into her hand as he gently traps the toe with the ring on it between two of his own, hoping to tickle her a little.]

[She smiles, so happy. There's so much to look forward to now, she can scarcely believe it.]

Yeah... I like that idea.

[It's nothing huge, after all. Just a memento of this time they shared when he proposed originally, sort of. Okay it's a promise but in her heat it's a done deal and she doesn't have to worry anymore that maybe her feelings had expanded at a different rate than his or... whatever, it doesn't matter now. They both want that commitment to one another. Everything else she can handle no problem.]

Do you want to go today, before... we get younger again? Or wait until afterwards? If we're not going to go shopping, I'd at least love to take you dancing or something else fun like that while I have the chance.

That sounds wonderful. Shopping and then dancing?

[Everything around here is safe, and he's got Leo's tome safely locked away, so he feels like it's all right to enjoy himself a little.]

Exactly. Shopping first before the stores close and whatever dance club opens. Then we can look for a fun place to hang out for the evening.

[Hopefully somewhere they won't feel pressured to drink a lot just to have a good time. Someplace that lets you dance or play a game like pool or darts or some other arcade games.]

A real date together like this - might as well make the most of it.

That sounds like a great lead-up to our usual evening routine.

[It'll be especially relaxing after a night out on the town.]

[She smiles broadly. It's so exciting! And she's glad that he's excited too for a real date. As such, he gets a fond kiss on the lips.]

And I love our usual evening routine at all, you know that. This is just something special.

[Hours later, Forrest and Kairi return to Lakshmi's temple and the comfort of a room full of plush pillows, exhausted but very happy.]

Mm... it feels good to lie down after all that dancing.

[Kairi lands on her back in a flop next to him.]

Nooooo kidding!

[She starts to rub at her knees.]

I don't know why I thought they might do more slow songs than once every half hour!

[But she's laughing about it, really. She had a lot of fun on a 'real' date - the kind that two adults can take - with her boyfriend.]

[Forrest sighs happily as he cuddles up close to Kairi, entwining his legs with hers and already transparently trying to help her toe off her shoes with his foot.]

It was nice, though... we haven't really been on a proper date in a while.

[She enjoys having that kind of close contact, hugs and cuddling and whatever else. It's the bonding that she likes. Off her shoes go, with no protest.]

I'll try to make sure we don't wait so long again. Of course, no matter what it is, I expect we'll wear ourselves out... and I know there's only one thing to do when my feet are tired.

[She grins over at him and then touches their noses together.]

Of course. I'm at your service.

[Forrest giggles, rubbing his nose affectionately against hers and giving it a little kiss before moving to her feet. He smiles warmly as he takes one of them in hand, dipping his head down to press a few tender kisses to her toes before starting the massage in earnest, starting with the middle of her sole.]

So soft... the amrita's really done its job well.

[Both hands go over her mouth.]

... Phew... I'll get used to this again.

[Usually she's the one who does the teasing, but every so often Forrest is feeling playful too. He's doing the massage properly now, though, so she can relax.]

Your feet have been through enough tonight, though. I promise I'll be good.

[Oh she does enjoy it when he gets playful, it's just harder when she's getting tickled specifically since she can't get back at him while she's laughing so hard.

In response, she reaches out to toy with the curls of his hair, kissing at it while he massages her feet.]

At least it was worth it. The dancing, a date with you... a nice massage afterwards...

[He gets a very fond smile from her as she takes the time to feel everywhere his fingers move along her feet.]

I promised you years ago that your feet would never be tired for long with me around. I intend to hold to that promise.

[He smiles back just as fondly as he works her skin, from heel to toe.]

[She hums, just barely loud enough for Forrest to hear. They're alone, but the point is to give him just enough assurance she's enjoying this. As if he had a doubt. It's a little game, really. A small escalation as he continues to ply her with the massage.]

And it's because you're such an honorable man that I can't wait to wear a ring with you.
