Thank you!
Sasuke
[She stumbles back, confused when she hears him speak. That's...definitely Sasuke's voice. But he's not at all how she remembers hearing how he should be. The cherry blossom intoxication coupled with her confusion has her staring at Sasuke, brows furrowed and hand near her mouth without saying a word in response for a long moment.
How does she even begin to say anything? And especially since she doesn't feel that overwhelming urge to not say his name like she had with Neji.
Curiosity finally wins out and the intoxication makes her a little more blunt than normal.]
How would I know that's the truth... Sasuke-san?
no subject
[ At least now he has confirmation that she recognizes him... though, the answer to that question is a hard one to put into words. She's one of Naruto's friends, not his, and the two of them hadn't exactly been on the best of terms. Hyuuga... Hyuuga . . . ah! Hinata! That was it.
He doesn't make any move toward her, his stance a little wider than usual, but it's helping him stay upright. Has he ever actually interacted with her before? Probably not much, if he can't recall it. ]
Which are you? [ The only overwhelming thing he'd felt when trying to come up with her name was his own inability to think too clearly, so does that means she's the same as he is? ]
no subject
So you really are Sasuke-san. And you're right, I wouldn't. But you're different, from what I heard.
[She gestures toward his missing arm, in case her words aren't obvious enough. Which they likely aren't.
She stops giggling with a sigh before sitting down. It feels like she hasn't sat down all throughout this viewing.]
And I'm a god. The same as you, I'd guess.
no subject
That was... [ The result of stupidity. The aftereffects of stubbornness. The worst possible way to give someone a hand. ] ...an accident.
[ If she's a god, then that explains a lot. Though, she isn't attempting to make a move at him, so that's a good thing. Right now, fighting just feels like it would be a really bad idea, but talking is okay and so talking it is. ]
If someone asks your name, what do you tell them? [ Most important question ever. ]
no subject
This may be the first time she's had a civil conversation with Sasuke, if they ever even talked before, and she doesn't feel like pressing her luck despite how easily the words may come to her at the moment.
But the question about names has her raised eyebrows squinting together as she continues to stare.]
Names..? What do you--
[And then she remembers. She met Itachi earlier and with how intelligent everyone said he was, she knows he should've known immediately that she's a Hyuuga. But...nothing.
Just like with Neji.]
Oh... Um, I--well, it depends. With...others I give both names, letting them choose. But... Neji is here, too. And he doesn't remember. So I...I could only bear to give my god name to him.
no subject
He'd run into Itachi... and although he'd initially given his god name, he couldn't stick with it and had told him both (though he'd kept quiet about his family name and only used his given). Despite being unable to say anything to him about their connection, he couldn't bring himself to lie to him about his name. It just felt too strange to have his brother calling him 'Kali'.]
Was he formal with you? [ Wait... ] You're not 'Ixtab', are you?
no subject
[She stops herself. While she knows it might actually be Neji's god, she's also not too sure she really wants to know. Perhaps Neji's afterlife would be better if she didn't meddle in it, no matter how much she wants to try and start over with him. Without everything that ended up happening between them.]
Um, anyway... Yes, he was. Even though I said not to be.
[And that works for both Itachi and Neji. What is it with formal older brothers?]
no subject
[ But she got the formal treatment, just like he had, and although neither of them have ever really spoken much at all at home, he did sort of agree to working with Naruto instead of against him, and actual human interaction is part of that. The blond may not be here, but a promise is a promise. ]
...How do you make them stop?
[ Because he really doesn't like the idea of Itachi calling him anything-sama. It's too weird and uncomfortable. ]
no subject
Perhaps that would just be what Neji did to her these days.]
I'm glad, then...
[Even if her tone, while warm, doesn't entirely fit.]
And... I don't think I can be of much help there. I never was able to get nii-san to stop before--ah, that is... I just grew used to it instead of always pressing about it.
no subject
But the mention that she's never been able to make it stop either... Oddly enough, it actually makes him smile. At least he isn't alone in that. ]
I suppose getting used to it will be the only option I ha-- nii-san? [ Wait a minute, here. ] He's your brother?
[ He could've sworn someone had said cousins before, but he never really paid much attention to the Hyuugas, so it's possible he was just mistaken on the relationship. If the Hyuuga were anything like the Uchiha had been about keeping bloodlines pure and abilities exclusive to them alone, it's possible that maybe they really could be siblings. ]
no subject
[She smiles, softly and fondly.]
Our fathers, they were identical twins, so... I've never called him anything other than that.
[Even throughout all those years he hated her. He was still her nii-san. And even those memories are something she looks back somewhat fondly on. Because he had been alive.]
But yes... I don't think either of us will ever get either of them to stop being formal. Not without them remembering, possibly. But that's a bad idea.
