It really is... It's incredibly nice of them to do this! Especially since the cherry blossoms will all be gone soon..

[She stumbles back, confused when she hears him speak. That's...definitely Sasuke's voice. But he's not at all how she remembers hearing how he should be. The cherry blossom intoxication coupled with her confusion has her staring at Sasuke, brows furrowed and hand near her mouth without saying a word in response for a long moment.

How does she even begin to say anything? And especially since she doesn't feel that overwhelming urge to not say his name like she had with Neji.

Curiosity finally wins out and the intoxication makes her a little more blunt than normal.]

How would I know that's the truth... Sasuke-san?

How would you know that it's not?

[ At least now he has confirmation that she recognizes him... though, the answer to that question is a hard one to put into words. She's one of Naruto's friends, not his, and the two of them hadn't exactly been on the best of terms. Hyuuga... Hyuuga . . . ah! Hinata! That was it.

He doesn't make any move toward her, his stance a little wider than usual, but it's helping him stay upright. Has he ever actually interacted with her before? Probably not much, if he can't recall it. ]

Which are you? [ The only overwhelming thing he'd felt when trying to come up with her name was his own inability to think too clearly, so does that means she's the same as he is? ]

[Hinata tries to narrow her eyes, but it's a funny feeling on top of everything else and she only succeeds in making herself laugh.]

So you really are Sasuke-san. And you're right, I wouldn't. But you're different, from what I heard.

[She gestures toward his missing arm, in case her words aren't obvious enough. Which they likely aren't.

She stops giggling with a sigh before sitting down. It feels like she hasn't sat down all throughout this viewing.]

And I'm a god. The same as you, I'd guess.

[ He doesn't miss that gesture, mind racing to decide on an explanation. There's really no telling the truth here, because saying the two of them blew their arms off is kind of-- not quite what he wants to do. ]

That was... [ The result of stupidity. The aftereffects of stubbornness. The worst possible way to give someone a hand. ] ...an accident.

[ If she's a god, then that explains a lot. Though, she isn't attempting to make a move at him, so that's a good thing. Right now, fighting just feels like it would be a really bad idea, but talking is okay and so talking it is. ]

If someone asks your name, what do you tell them? [ Most important question ever. ]

[She nods, one too many times. He's right, again.]

Right.. Right, you're right. I...I really shouldn't overthink it that much. [Easier said than done in her case.] And... he's probably overthinking it as well. When we really shouldn't think too much on it, but just let it happen.

[He's a chronic overthinker, himself, but keeping himself busy has always been his strongest line of defense against that.]

[At least it's easy enough for Souji. He'd have had a rough time keeping his mind off the unknown past, as a shinki, but Souji has always been happy enough to put his faith in him and not question too much, no matter where that faith and loyalty leads him.]

There's something to be said for giving things enough thought, but it's dangerous for a shinki to go too far. For them especially, it's probably best to be able to let it go.

That's true. But wouldn't this be more of a situation of not to think too hard or long, unless you absolutely need to? Such as... right before a fight, or some new dynamic comes up?

[Hijikata pauses. He hadn't really considered it from that angle -- and it's not the way he'd expect a girl with her calm, pleasant temperament to think about things.]

I hadn't thought about it exactly that way, but I do think you're right. It's something similar to that.

[There are a lot of situations that are funny that way -- too much thinking or not enough of it are just about equally dangerous, in moments of truth.]

But... I don't believe that. Not entirely. This entire time we've been talking, you haven't seemed that way at all.

[Granted, she's used to one of her teammates speaking even less and usually in questions he'll then answer, so... She's got weird definitions of normal.]

Right.. Humans [As weird as that still is to say for her] are a different matter entirely. But since it's different with all of us here, that's still no reason to stay in your temple with your god. You can still talk to people..

It's a little more complicated than that, too. [Sometimes she just vanishes and that makes any conversation difficult. Really she's just super bad with people most of the time.]

[She's startled at his question, so focused she had been on thinking up something else to say that she almost drops her chopsticks. But she didn't and recovered from her slip-up aside from the bright blush on her face.]

Oh! Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself, I'm...

[She pauses for a second, debating on whether or not to give her real name or her god name. While she knows she should know something about the person in front of her, she has a good feeling he might be a shinki if only because nothing had been mentioned about her eyes.

She decides to treat this the same way she did with Neji.]

I'm Bast.

Bast. [ He sounded the name on his tongue, before nodding to her. ] ...It's good to meet you, Bast.

My name is Itachi.

[She freezes with her chopsticks halfway to her mouth. Itachi...

She glances over at him, taking in features she overlooked the first time around. The dark hair, the dark eyes, the pale skin... How did she miss it the first time? Granted, he was older than he appeared in bingo books and she never got a clear look at him when he was fighting Sasuke, but still...

She slowly lowers her chopsticks and tries her best to cover her lapse. Hopefully, he'll just chalk it up to her being awkward, like everyone else did with her.]

Um, it's.. It's nice to meet you too, Itachi-san. Is it... Would it be wrong of me to assume you're a shinki?

You'd be correct, Bast-sama. [ He didn't think anything of the silence, just took it as it was and went on and about his meal. ]

Oh, I just mean that... It seems that things happen every now and then that aren't so nice. Just..last week, I believe, some god tried to take over the Heavens. And, well... [It seemed to have went as well as one could imagine? She's only heard things through the grapevine since she didn't get involved.]

[Her eyes narrow even more at his words. Wasn't what happened to Neji in their world bad enough, but for him to have already run into Madara here as well? She feels some sort of protectiveness toward Neji, almost as if their roles had shifted since he remembered nothing while she did.]
